Under New Management Since Jan 2019 The Pub made famous in the Slim Dusty song - Pub with No Beer, is situation in the heart of Ingham as the Bruce Hwy curves through the town. Now with a wide range of drinks besides beer. Soft Drink and Coffee always available. Open 7 days a week from 10 am until late with pool tables and gaming room. The pub is built on the site of the original Day Dawn Hotel about which the poem "Pub with No Beer" was written in 1943 by Dan Sheahan who rode into the Pub one morning in 1943 to have a nice cold beer and discovered that a convoy of American serviceman had come through the previous day and drunk the Pub dry! The servicemen were on their way north to fight in Papua New Guinea in WW2. Later SLim Dusty recorded the poem in 1957 and it became a number 1 hit around the world. Above the hotel is the pub style motel, where a warm welcome awaits you with clean comfortable budget accommodation. From Single King rooms to Family style accommodation, all with tiled art Deco styleensuire bathrooms, TV, 32" A/C, coffee and tea making facilities, hair dry and iron. All of our beds are Sealy ensembles for absolute comfort with pillow top mattresses. Parking for cars and larger vehicles - semi's and RV trailers - can be found behind the pub in Johnstone St. Attached to the pub, is the recently opened Herbert Valley Steakhouse open for lunch every day and dinners Monday to Saturday. We pride ourselves in using the best local produce from around the Hinchinbrook Shire - beef, chicken, seafood and vegetables. In 2014 the hotel received the Australian Good Food Guide Readers Award for accommodation in the greater Townsville area. Not because it is a five-star high-rise, which it isn't, it received the award for the memorabilia, the artwork, the history and the warm welcome from the staff. 2012 North Queensland Tourism Awards , Lees received the Finalist Award for "Unique Accommodation". The Motel accommodation Is built over the site of the "Day Dawn Hotel' made famous by Slim Dusty . The Hotel is in an excellent location in the middle of the CBD, directly across from Hinchinbrook Shire Council Hall, just 60m to Coles supermarket as well as the Post Office.

Detailed Reviews
We eat here at least twice a week. The lunch menu is affordable and very large servings, sometimes too much.
The food is always fresh, well cooked and well presented.
Glenn the landlord is a great bloke and his staff are fun and friendly.
If you are passing through it is a must to stop at the original "pub with no beer".

If you are looking for a traditional country pub vibe, this is it. Staff are friendly and welcoming.
The room we were given was upstairs and small. The queen bed was comfortable with fresh linen and comfortable pillows but there was no room to walk around it as one side was up against the wall.
The windows looked out to some sort of courtyard so if you wanted privacy you needed to keep the curtains closed. The ensuite was clean and the shower was good.
Basic accommodation fit for the traveller who just needs a comfy bed and somewhere to get a feed and a drink.

After long day on the road from Malanda and surrounding areas. Looking for a good feed we stopped here for a feed. Wow the steak was cooked correctly, tender and vegetables were just right. Service was great as well. If you want a great feed stop and support local.

Stayed in The Lees Hotel for 2 nights. As the festival was so crowded with wait line for food beyond belief we sampled food and drink at most of the hotels and eateries around Ingham instead. Really great place to stay, very nice old world style room with a very comfortable bed. The meals here were delicious with great choices and reasonable prices.

We stayed here on a Saturday night. The hotel has a lovely old world feel, and our room and ensuite were spotless. We had dinner in the restaurant. The food and the service were excellent. It is also only a short drive to Forrest Beach.

Prior to this review I had had a very unpleasant experience here. With the new owners things seem to have changed for the best. My dinner was delicious and there was plenty of it. The manger is very nice and easy to speak too and importantly interacts with the patrons. I urge everyone to give the new owners a chance and wish them all thebest with their new venture. Welcome to Ingham.
