We have just visited Ingham once again to see some of the amazing local natural attractions. Of course we wanted to recapture the amazing feeling of class and style by staying at Noorla Heritage resort. So lovely to stay there again and feel apart of this tropical paradise. Jennie and Joe, the hosts are so welcoming and understanding for people's desires to capture a unique experience. Beautiful rooms and furnishings and so many little nooks to loose yourself in the romance of yester-year. It is also amazing what there is to do so close by. Challenging hikes with outstanding scenery. What a beautiful winter getaway.

Between Beaches ,we headed inland 10 kms, and found a 1920's renovated Italy meets colonial Australia hotel resort. Low key welcoming grandeur. Entrance palms ,to left dipping pool ,to right greens, and in centre grand renovated double storey fully veranda inviting longings. Out the back ,an enormous banyan tree provided an other prospective to this most engaging locality. Inside we found libraries, games rooms, common rooms, dining room, games room, an old bar, etc;and our room(s) had both choice of fan &/or air conditioning,TV,bar fridge and 2 double beds, Plus all ceilings are 16 foot high plus, paintings and artefacts abound. We amazed at our surrounds. This does not describe its unique attributes-=you must enjoy this .But more,The host and hostess and staff provide the most welcoming stay, not in your face but simply enjoy and find your space in this rambling part of history. To top it off ,we were advised/shown a few local swimming holes that rank with the KIMBERLEYS.

I decided to stop off at Ingham on my way to Airlie Beach. This place is off the main drag and has a huge garden, fountains and birds everywhere. I really liked the old feel to the place. A great place to chill out and relax.

Not for some this hotel - it is heritage but to the extent that basic accommodation standards are forgotten - no bins in the room, no privacy, no seperate toilets, no space. Plus it is creepy at night as everything gets locked up early (about 7:30pm).
However, the floor in the so called dining room are very pretty and so are the gardens. Definately for people who want the experience of living in 1901, not 2010.

Look, I'm sure it's fine for some people, but the way it was set out, didn't suit us. The photos we saw on line are not accurate. It has been renovated, but it seemed run down to us. There were cobwebs in the room, dead flies along the picture rail and everything is closed by 10 PM. There is a 'bar' that's not open for service when we were there, and a dining room that closed at 10 PM, leaving the only place to sit and chat was an upstairs landing. With other guests staying, we didn't want to talk to loud in case we woke them up. It wasn't nice when the owner had a go at my partner for using another toilet.
There are no couches in the room we stayed in, which meant that you couldn't sit and talk in your room. There were no bins either anywhere to be found, not even in the bathroom. The bathroom was small, and when you showered, the water got all over the floor - and this made going to the toilet difficult.
We stayed a night and moved to the Tropixx. We lost money by staying here, it's a long way back from the main street, closes early, the owner was a bit nasty, and for us it was a mistake. We booked on line without contacting them, a mistake. A room that is two rooms side by side using one bathroom in one room is always going to be tricky. ALl the rooms are upstairs, so if you've got mobility problems or are elderly, best to stay somewhere else.
When I'm in Ingham again, I'll be staying at the Tropixx. This was a dirty and not pleasant place for us to stay. I got the feeling that the owners are also acting as cleaners, and that's why it's not as clean as other places we've stayed in.

To begin, we did camp rather than use the hotel, but the neighbourhood is still the same and the night we spent listening to the bass pumping from the neighbours party house would have sounded the same if were from a tent or hotel room at the Noorla.
Noise aside, we were told to pitch up anywhere to the rear of the hotel which happened to be a poorly maintained back garden, only to be told "no, sorry, no not the car". I guessed from this welcome from the landlady that she didn't like the car ruining the view of the adjacent power generator and dumped car that we had pitched next to.
Not to be put off by our welcome we went into the hotel to request a booking for breakfast in the morning to which the reply "no, sorry, no, we have a group in?"
We hadn't been told where the amenities were but managed to find them under a red light next to the hotels labourers cabin. One toilet that also had a shower and laundry in the same room.
We stayed only the one night rather than the 2 we had paid for.
The hotel itself was delapidated and run-down although in fairness, was undergoing some kind of renovation and we didn't get to see what the guest rooms were like.
If we camp in the area again we will go back to the trusty Queensland national park.

I have stayed at the Noorla on a number of occasions now and really enjoy the atmosphere of the heritage Hotel. I love the artwork and historical prints that allow me to look at years past and relish the wonderful history of the hotel. I have found the rooms to be quiet, neat and clean and the service by hosts Jenny and Joe to be wonderful. I look forward to my next stay!

The noorla is beautiful, clean heritage place with beautiful gardens and lot of birdlife .we sat on the upstairs balcony ,enjoying the garden and the peace of the place . It' is unusual to have a hotel off the main road,we found it a real advantage because of the peacefulness here. The hosts were very friendly and we had great time talking to the other guests.

Don't miss the Noorla! Especially if you value vintage accommodation. Wonderful to see such authentic restoration. The bedrooms are so comfortable and inviting. Think Gatsby! A wonderful opportunity to take in the wild Wallaman Falls and come back to such welcoming hosts Joe & Jennie and enjoy a fine wine or just stay and enjoy.

As soon as you drive into the Noorla heritage resort, you can feel the tasteful old world ambiance. Greeted by hosts Jennie and Joe, as a single traveller, I felt very welcome and safe. My room had a beautiful heritage four-poster bed with tasteful furnishings and old world charm. The balcony where I enjoyed a leisurely drink with other guests overlooks the gardens and catches the evening breeze. The dining room, with its unique tiled floor is like walking into an Italian villa. Early morning I walked around the Ingham wetlands and took a day trip to the rain forest. The Noorla and the natural beauty of the surrounding area were a highlight of my trip.
