Set in the heart of the World Heritage-listed Daintree Rainforest, the Daintree Ecolodge combines nature, nurture and culture in a pure rainforest environment. Believed to be over 180 million years old, and the oldest tropical lowland rainforest on Earth, the Daintree Rainforest is a rare and precious botanical treasure. Nestled amongst the foliage, the Daintree Ecolodge showcases 15 eco-friendly bayans (treehouses) immersed in the breathtaking rainforest canopy. Rise to the sound of the birds in the rainforest above, breathe-in the fresh tropical air and discover the lodge's private onsite waterfall on a leisurely stroll through the enchanting rainforest. The Daintree Ecolodge provides the perfect base to explore the treasures of the Daintree region; the only place in the world where two UNESCO World Heritage-listed sites meet (the Daintree Rainforest and Great Barrier Reef)! The Daintree Ecolodge is located 110 kilometres north of Cairns (90 minutes) and 45 kilometres north of Port Douglas (40 minutes) via sealed roads.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Most disappointed in this hotel. The surroundings were beautiful, the room lovely, unfortunately that is all. Reception staff were friendly and efficient, sadly restaurant staff were not trained and chaotic. We were looking forward to the guided rainforest walk but as we arrived on a Saturday we were told no availability until Tuesday when we had left. Food menu was very limited and no lunch option apart from a very expensive picnic. The pool area was not very inviting, no drinks available either. We had room no 1 which overlooked the restaurant and had no privacy. A must for this hotel is a car as there is nowhere to sit and relax apart from the pool area inside reception.

The spa staff (Cathy), and wait staff were excellent. Even the chef (Michele) was very attentive and gracious. The accommodations in bungalow #5 were not good. 1) The water pipes were constantly banging (we assumed that other rooms were connected to the pipes attached to our room because this happened even when we didn't touch the water). We told the front desk staff the day after we arrived and we were never contacted and the situation was not addressed. You couldn't sleep or relax and definitely couldn't hear the birds right outside the window. 2) Shower - the shower would stay warm for only 45 seconds and then go cold. This happened throughout the entire shower 3) Air conditioning - we didn't have a remote for the air conditioning system and we asked several times. Finally received it the night before we checked out. Needless to say, our stay at Daintree Eco Lodge was a huge disappointment.

An immersive experience in the rainforest unlike anything else. The wildlife surrounding the lodges and the main dining room is incomparable and the noises take some getting used to but absolutely brilliant. Rustic accommodation, as you should expect from this kind of location but very clean and EXCELL service from staff. Good in restaurant is extremely high quality!

Everyone at the Lodge was super helpful. The food was excellent, especially the 6 course Dinner under the Trees. We took the picnic lunch to Cape Tribulation which was quite a feast! Overall Highly recommended!

If you are looking for Wi-Fi and tv in your room don’t book here, do your research first. The whole idea is to get away from the fast pace of todays world and enjoy your natural surroundings. The staff were outstanding, the food exquisite especially the smoked focaccia and the ambience was relaxing and chilled, listening to the frog chorus each night. Loved the fact that you could leave all your windows open all night to hear the sounds of nature without fear of an invasion of mosquitoes and other pests. The walk to the waterfall was well worth the climb and photo opportunity. Perfect space on the balcony for early morning pilates and yoga whilst enjoying the dawn chorus of bird songs. We didn’t want to leave, thank you.

Very nice, friendly staff and good food. We enjoyed our stay here. We liked the special dinner we booked, a 6 course dinner. The rooms were large and the beds comfortable. Our room had a bathtub with a view of the forest which we enjoyed a lot.

The place is great and the staff were pleasant but it’s certainly not worth the price when comparing against other hotel’s predominantly in the Port Douglas area. Yes I get it, the hotel is in the rainforest but let’s not forget you can get into the rainforest for free. The hotel is dated and lacks very simple things you would expect at this price point. The menu is very limited (4 choices) which doesn’t change between nights, and the rooms offer no Wifi and no TV, and could resemble a basic motel room like experience on stilts. If sleeping in the rainforest is a must this is your place. If luxury is your target, do a day trip to the rainforest and seek a 5 star resort at the same price point elsewhere.

Dear Camnth Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. The location of the lodge is what attracts our guests from all over the globe as they have the opportunity to unplug from the world and fully immerse themselves in the sights and sounds of the 180-million-year-old Daintree Rainforest. While we don’t have wifi in the banyans (treehouses) we do provide wifi in the main lodge for guests’ convenience. Your feedback helps us identify areas for improvement and we're committed to addressing these issues to enhance our services. We appreciate your patience and understanding. Best regards,

We were staying in accommodation next door and called in without a dinner reservation. Lovely staff who found us a table and looked after us really well. Table d’Hote menu - quite small but everything we had was delicious and good value. Definitely worth a visit for a meal but book if you’re not staying there.
