Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Absolutely loved our stay at the cabins After dusty days of traveling it was fabulous to arrive at a modern well presented cabin. It had everything we needed, comfy beds, kitchen and sitting room, good size bathroom and lovely verandah seating. The washing machine was a godsend to wash the dust from our clothes. Will definitely stay again.

We stayed in a Motel Cabin ok but no table and chairs to sit on inside the cabin to eat, we had to sit on the bed and eat off our laps.. Single bed in room takes up space. No chairs at all inside cabin so we had to sit on the bed the whole time , if we were inside. There was a couple of chairs and outside table to sit outside during the day. Not ideal for a 4 night stay we were dissapointed there were no self contained cabins available for our stay. This particular cabin was a pet friendly cabin which is a bonus if travelling with a dog. These motel cabins also don't have a sink you have to use the bathroom basin to wash the dishes. Microwave toaster fridge and kettle in cabin . Great facilities at this park, very inviting swimming pool , a camp kitchen and BBQ area a fire pit , pool table and laundry .

Thank you Mel, appreciate your review. The motel cabins are typically used by overnighters who eat out, they are at a very reasonable price as they are not self contained. As with most motel rooms they do have a desk/ bench and one chair that can be used for eating at or working. The one you stayed in caters for two friends or a couple and one child, the extra bed offers this choice. The camp kitchen is just a short walk of fifteen metres and offers plenty of tables and prep areas as well as washing up facilities. An outdoor table and chairs also offers a nice area for eating. Lets hope next time you visit we can line up a self contained which would more suit your needs. Thank you again.

We stayed for one night on our way home from Quilpie. This van park was nicely grassed, quiet, with good amenities and a camp kitchen.
We set up our tent on a grassed area not far from the office and a short walk to the amenities. It’s a reasonable walk into town but do-able.
There are also some tracks and Sandhills behind the camp area for something to entertain the kids

We stayed two nights here and the 2 bedroom cabins had everything we needed. Cabin was clean and comfortable. Bbq on property and carport for parking. Karen was especially helpful as we needed to change dates and it was not a problem. Highly recommend.

Well done Karen for your fabulous home from home in the outback . My wife and I and our standard poodle stayed last night and were very surprised on what was offered at a reasonable cost .
Clean ,new and comfortable with all the amenities required in the spacious cabins .
What I noticed especially was everything works . A number of accommodation properties in this area should take particular note of this 5 star property.
Great respite in Cunnamulla .

Have stayed at the Cunnamulla Cabins on numerous occasions when travelling for work. They have a newish feel (they are only a few years old), well appointed, self contained. Highly recommended if visiting Cunamulla especially if you want to be self contained.

Stayed there recently for 2 nights in a cabin. The cabins are spacious and clean. It is a delightful little park and the owners are some of the most friendly you'll ever meet. They maintain the park extremely well. If there is one negative than it is the Wifi. It is done by an outside company (net4). You get 100 mb free. Any more and you pay through the nose. So the term "free wifi" is actually a bit misleading. Anyone who needs to download a decent file needs more than 100 mb. If I was the owners, I would take ownership of the internet and WiFi. It's a must these days.

Those who are used to my reviews will know that I am easy going, blend well into a variety of places and appreciate local variances. I have to say I much prefer if people tell it like it really is, rather than invite expectations that are never going to be achieved.

Who would have thought that stating - "Our reputation for clean, well-presented cottages, cabins and units is matched by our staff’s friendly, helpful service and our ongoing commitment to providing guests with the best hospitality in the town." meant that the cottage (I can't speak for the cabins) was filthy - even though the owner assured us she had cleaned it herself and didn't think that it was. (Included photos taken on entry show otherwise).

It had a broken washing machine that we had been warned about along with the apology for the overgrown garden, and that the front door didn't work properly so entry/exit was by the deadlocked back door (to open or shut you have to balance with no door handle to hold onto while 'jiggling' the key into the lock and hoping it grips), and we had to remember to secure the back sliding doors with the supplied length of wood because that lock didn't work either.

She also bemoaned that she'd lost her staff and had been trying to do everything herself, so the grass may take a while to get mown.

After a nine hour drive and with other family members waiting for us to show them to the 'delightful cottage' they'd all seen photos of online, my partner and I looked at each other just a little bemused as he asked if there was anything else we should know about. No, we were told, that's all.

But what we hadn't been warned about was -
a hole in the veranda floor,
broken furniture inside and out,
a window with a full length crack in it above a bed,
broken furniture and stored old office equipment all but filling the sleep out,
mould on the walls in the sleep out, and an old door leaning against a wall.
Throughout the property there were doors that either wouldn't open or wouldn't shut - both room and cupboard doors, with the owner suggesting that all houses are like that because they move when it rains.
There was a very suspect wonky element on the stove that meant we weren't game to use it,
the featured bbq had disappeared, although the gas bottle and hose were still there, personal things and renovation equipment had been left in cupboards and drawers, and on benches,
dust covering the inside wardrobe spaces that meant leaving our clothes unpacked, no covering on the East (sunrise) facing French doors in the bedroom - there was a dusty blanket we managed to hang on the curtain rod hooks to stop the rising sun from streaming in;
and, dirt and grime on all but the most obvious surfaces - of the shower and kitchen.

I was able to write 'clean me' in the dust on the base of the television in the main lounge room!

We had initially booked for six people, so the provided three towels left us a little confused.

In the advertising it was mentioned that the cottages have been newly and fully renovated - a stretch at best - but fittings and fixtures can be found laying around the place, in cupboards, on benches, or leaning up against walls in the case of the door.

We were exhausted after our drive but when woken in the middle of the night by my partner noisily trying to open the closed bedroom door and failing miserably, I remembered the other door was secured by a heavy chair on the veranda, and the other room's veranda door was secured by a big heavy pot planter - but it did mean that we couldn't get out that way either. I'm not sure that it would stop anyone getting in.

I also suddenly realised that I hadn't seen any smoke alarms (because there weren't any) and thought through the dodgy exits and it suddenly became important. It's an old wooden building with signs of dodgy workmanship all over it. Fire is the number one destroyer of accommodation in outback Queensland.

That all said, it is Cunnamulla - photos that make any of the accommodations look like they're in Oxford Street in Sydney are depicting best angles, best light and the most of positive optimism. Just a few steps back will allow you to see the wider picture.

It is a lovely outback town, with warm and friendly people.

On the cottage, we raised the no smoke alarms, no fire extinguisher or fire blanket as a breach of safety legislation with the owner and even though she assured us that the fire brigade had been through the building 12 months previously and had approved it, (which I doubt very much or they're not doing their jobs properly), she finally said she appreciated the safety aspects and assured us that she will be getting the above things fixed. If she hasn't, people need to know there are real security and safety risks in this building.

On the level of service, when we rang on the first night to complain about the state of the cottage, the owner's response was to tell us that she had cleaned it herself and there was nothing wrong with it.

At 9.10 pm she sent a text to have our party leave the next morning and she'd let it to another party who were 'desperate to get into it' at the price we had paid. Her attitude focussed on it being a cheaper alternative with a party of five than her other options, or other options in town. What she was missing the point of was that there are safety, security, cleanliness and honesty in advertising issues. I'm not sure that she appreciated that even after we'd discussed it further.

We returned there on one of the days and the back door had been left unlocked. It had been secured when we'd left for the day.

We did stay the three nights we had booked because we had commitments that didn't leave us time to start over finding other accommodation.

Thankfully there were no fires.

I see reviews on the cabins are positive, and from the outside they do look newer and better kept.

OMG ... Seriously? I knew this one was coming and I knew it was going to be harsh. Honestly, you pay for what you get in the cottages, $5.00 for the verandah which is cheaper then camping. Included is a split system a/c and single beds with sheets blankets..Etc.. they are older and doors don't close but they have character. Honestly, you are the first complaint I have ever had, the previous 400 people have loved the large fridge freezer/ evaporative ac. /split system ac/ 2 tvs/ etc all for the cost of $20 something per night per person. They definitely aren't dirty as I spend 2 hours cleaning them after every stay.(Although I know you have 80 photos to prove otherwise lol) I am not going to carry on about all of the above accusations except to say the cabins are safe, I checked them after the above complained and the smoke alarm is still active where it was placed by the Fire Brigade. There are 7 exits in this house. I have read what you have stated and I think there are so many untruths in it.. I offered you money back three times, but you did not want it as you said you were too busy too move, I offered to move your gear to somewhere else but again you refused this option as well. Come on.... if I hated something that much I would jump at the chance of reimbursement without penalties. Anyone reading this .. work it out.
