Charlotte Plains hotel is often praised for its friendly service and its serene location close to nature, despite some guests finding it lacking in facilities. The cleanliness of the baths and toilets is regularly commended, contributing to the overall lively atmosphere enriched by live music and fire pits, although noise levels have been a concern for some.
While the spacious rooms are appreciated, a few guests deem them not quite up to the mark in terms of value, echoing sentiments about the hotel being overpriced with some amenities in need of upkeep.

We arrived in a un-forecast rain storm, causing havoc for the staff and other guests. The roads became slippery. The people in tents were fine, enjoying the hot artesian springs before retreating to their caravans. For us, as ground tenters, the red muddy ground was not going to be fun to camp in, so the staff managed to find us a room at the Shearers Quarters, on the property, about 8km from the Artesian Springs. The facilities at the Shearer's Quarters were basic, but clean, and I'm guessing, pretty authentic to how the shearers would have stayed whilst shearing at Charlotte Plains in times gone by. The camp kitchen was well equipped and a good meeting place for fellow travellers to share a few stories. The staff appeared to be over-worked, most likely due to the storm, however they did their best to accommodate us and give us a good experience, for which we were grateful. My wife and I think Charlotte Plains has huge potential, a real gold mine in waiting. It is a great location, a little off the beaten track, but not too far, however given it's remoteness, I suspect it will take some time and plenty of capital to really hit maximise it's latent potential. We hope to visit one day when it is a truly remarkable experience!

Amazing outback experience. $40 for a couple camping at the bore camp site. No power, fires allowed, flushing toilets, hot showers, a bar that opens at 4 pm. We were lucky to have live music.
Spend at least 2 nights. Plenty of places to camp. Artesian bore that spills out into the bore drains. Bath tubs also conveniently located to enjoy this great experience. Night skies that have no light pollution.
Don’t drive pass . This is a special experience you will not regret your decision to visit.

Most wonderful place to visit, enjoyed our camping spot with views, the piece and quiet, just being able to stop and unwind i dont think i have seen that many stars in such a long time. The baths dotted further along the camping ground was great so you didnt feel like you had to sit next to strangers. We will be back.

Like many reviews before me, it's an Ok to tick off a bucket list. 2 nights was enough. We came there because of a YouTube show from the Feelgood Family. Grassed area near the Bore Head good. New Toilets/Shower block was good too, bathing experience in the tubs was good when you could get one and much better than bathing in the bore drain with dogs. Very overcrowded when we visited, but it's a windfall in revenue, beats shearing sheep I suppose. Did I say I lost count of how many dog owners let their dogs go swimming in the bore drain.
Suggestion not to allow pets, also suggest capping visitor numbers to reduce stress on the environment.

Hi there, Thank you for your review and feedback. We have rules regarding dogs being on leash and not being able to swim in the main Bore Drain or baths. We are sorry to hear that not all guests abided by this. This is clearly stated on our website and signs onsite, but we will strive to make improvements, where possible. A lot of our guests travel with their dogs so unfortunately, having a 'no dogs" rule at the property would make it quite difficult. As outlined in our emails and FAQs, we inform guests of our peak season and busiest times. Unfortunately, you came at a busy time (September school holidays) and naturally, there are more guests. If there's anything else we can do for you, please let us know by emailing stay@charlotteplains.com.au. Kind regards, CP Team

We thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality and the bore water soak in the twin bath tubs. Very romantic soaking together under the full moon. The campsite was far enough away from others, and the night was quiet. We intend to return and experience the private cool spring baths.

Seems more like a "no frills" caravan park than a station stay. Multiple bore fed baths set up along the water course were a good feature and supplied as part of the package. Make sure you turn up between 3-5pm or they won't be there for check in but we didn't realise that until arrival and read the signage. Good to see station owners diversifying their income stream.

Hi there, Thank you for your feedback! We're glad you enjoyed the baths. As Charlotte Plains is a working station, we do our best to inform guests about what to expect prior to their stay through emails and our FAQs. Since our staff are often attending to other tasks around the campsite, they aren’t always available at check-in, but we aim to make the arrival process as smooth as possible. Over the years, we’ve worked hard to enhance the experience beyond a "no frills" caravan park, adding features like a licensed bar, merchandise hut, a new ablution block and more. We are always looking for ways to provide an even better stay for our guests. Thank you again for your feedback. Kind regards, CP Team

If you are travelling out that way you must stop here for at least one night. There are bath tubs spread along the water way or you can jump in the waterway itself. Tge bar opens at 3pm until 5 and it's a great place to socialise. Flushing toilets are available in a couple of locations at the Bore Camp.

I've been traveling for a month now , and have experienced many variations of motorhome accommodation, and staff management, a d I rate both highly, here. I am self-sufficient so do not need to really on amenities, but did use the showers here and they were large with pretty good pressure from the artesian spring. However , I have to agree with another about the toilet availability. There were only 3 toilets working with something like 100-200 guests! Admittedly, they just had a extraordinarily busy week with the Bash and school holidays, but and extra amenities block would be welcome on the south west side from the bar, for those guests. Having said that, I loved my little camp site, the bar, fabulous live music and wonderful staff, Loz, Pete and the girls, who made you feel so welcome. I also met the owners Rob & Claire who were lovely. I only experienced the spring creek which was rustic but very soothing. Just remember, you are in the outback on a working station, not glamping in some echo retreat! And, for the record, there are two clear signs marked with Charlotte Plains and whether it is the Shearer's Shed entrance of the Bore unpowered camping section. They also give you a map to download when you book online so you can't go wrong with directions. You just have to keep an eye out! Thanks for the fabulous experience!

When I booked Charlotte Plains I knew nothing of what was at bush camp ..chose powered site so was directed to Shearer's....so untidy, no innovation, noone to meet us, no signs explaining the fun/music, baths, bar and merch hut to be had AT THE BORE...because I chose powered...So disappointed at scruffy, unattended, unclear..If it weren't for visitors who knew we wd still be in the dark! We were shown power points on buildings as 2 powered sights were taken....(where were the power points, 2 in park, and all over buildings shown to us by the visitor...If he hadnt known we wd hav had to leave..🤷♀️....Staff went through and never stopped..We tried several times to register on radio. Cd someone hav greeted us, come and start a fire..offered us pizza or treats..where was our bar...thought all signage rough and poor on the way.....Someone cd have thanked us for visiting your property and explained tours...... and payed $90 to sit under a gum tree..had we wanted to participate at the Bore it entailed an 18k turn around in pitch dark. We forfeited $45 as thought the whole thing simply shoddy and neglectful. Try the above for ideas and perhaps create rustic setting, with logs to the share the fire, bbq offered or a farm breakfast round the fire. Everyone does not need the smelly bore with their farm experience, it cd b a choice but include Shearer's campers in the rest. The famous Charlotte Plains let us down......Sylvia

Hi Sylvia, Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. We’re very sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. We make it clear on our website that the Bore Campsite is our main site, offering the full range of activities and amenities. We state, “If you do not require power, we STRONGLY recommend camping at the Bore Campsite.” We regret that this distinction wasn’t clear to you prior to arrival. Unfortunately, due to some last-minute cancellations of our camp hosts and the remoteness of where we are and the main homestead in relation to the campgrounds, we’ve been understaffed recently, and our team has been focused on the Bore Campsite. We unfortunately cannot just move the power to where the bore is and therefore cannot have staff and musicians and a bar etc in all sites. We are sorry you did not take note of the website before booking in order to set your expectations. We try very hard to set expectations before people book. We have taken your feedback on board and will work on better communication and signage to ensure future guests have a clearer understanding of our facilities and options. Again, we apologise for the inconvenience and hope you’ll consider visiting us again under better circumstances. Kind regards, CP Team

The road into Charlotte Plains is dirt, but is grades, so you don't have to have a 4X4. The road is around four kilometres. The camping area is just a large bush area, and you can camp anywhere. There are two main toilet/shower blocks, so you would probably need to camp close to one of those. There are groups of bathtubs, and the artesian water is accessible from many points. It is not fenced off. If it has been raining there is an alternative road, or they will cancell / postpone your booking.
Tim, road into the station is very good dirt, any vehicle will get in no problems & with trailer/ vans, only thing is if it rains they ask people to hold off travelling on the road for couple of days as it will get very boggy, then they have to tow people out…if you are in there when rains u will get stuck in there for extra day or 2 but camping at bore is great.
There are more places to choose from in the Cunnamulla area.
