Such a hidden gem. This place was amazing. Rooms were spotless and so quiet. Well appointed and the nicest views. The lady who checked m in was so lovely and helpful. Very close to town but far enough out you can just enjoy the peace and quiet. Couldn’t recommend it enough
If you’re looking for a tropical retreat, this is the place. We stayed for a long weekend and really wanted to extend our time there. The American style wood pole cabins blend into the rainforest perfectly, each with a cosy balcony that just is perfect for a quiet read, while listening to the birds. The inside of the cabin was spotless and extremely well appointed with the living/sleeping areas in a stylish split level configuration. The couch, which could easily double up as a bed, was the most comfortable I’d experienced in decades of travel. The owners and staff were all friendly, and helpful. They always had a moment for a chat, no matter how busy they were. There are only a small number of cabins, so the resort is very peaceful. The pool is quite small, but big enough for the small number of guests, and was very well maintained. The grounds were immaculate, while staying natural and blending in with the bushy surrounds. This will be the only place we’ll stay while visiting Cooktown.…
The cabins are clean, very comfortable and well equiped. It’s in a very quiet location just outside of town, perfect for a weekend escape. The large shady balcony is a perfect relaxing space for a long drink and a good book. The staff/owners were all lovely, helpful and very friendly. We didn’t use it but the barbecue next to the pool (which we used extensively) looked spotless and well maintained. We stayed for three nights and will definitely stay there again.
We had 2 glorious nights at Milkwood Lodge, Cooktown. Beautiful pole cabins, fully equiped with everything one would need for a touch of luxury in such a remote part of Australia. Great aircon, perfectly located in the rainforest just minutes out of Cooktown. Spotlessly clean & smelt divine, good quality linen. Great pool for cooling off. Quality accommodation at an affordable price.
We weren’t really sure what to expect when we arrived but received a lovely surprise. Initially we missed the turn off & had reroute to find it. Driving up a steep driveway into the rainforest. Milkwood is only 5mins (drive) from the Main Street of Cooktown. We were greeted by 2 lovely ladies and welcomed warmly. A few bush steps down and we were shown to a lovely bungalow on poles. Everything we needed was there - kitchenette, air con, a VERY comfy bed! Just delightful! Right up in the rainforest & a beautiful pool to cool down in. Highly recommend!
Well we just checked in today and to say that we are SUPER-impressed is an understatement! This is a a wonderful eco-friendly resort with the most incredibly friendly folks running it! Thank you so much Sharyn and Melissa for a memorable welcome platter complete with Prosecco! This dad feels extremely spoiled on Dads Day!! Looking forward to a lovely stay! And we love all the wildlife including your beautiful fur babies!
We stayed 4 nights, the cabin was clean and well appointed. The bed was very comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. There are 3 sets of double cabins, unfortunately smoking is allowed and makes it unenjoyable to sit on your deck when your neighbour smokes on his. This was the only downside otherwise it’s a great place just outside of Cooktown.
Restful and relaxing cabin only a couple of minutes from town with a very comfortable bed with lovely linen. A pleasant shared BBQ and pool area is adjacent with access to a washing machine. Tariffs was good value. Pleasant and helpful staff
My husband and I stayed at Milkwood Lodge as part of our recent North Queensland honeymoon. We had a wonderful stay. The lodge is positioned well, only a few minutes from the heart of town. The cabins were positioned a little closer together than we expected but we still found it to be private enough. I guess the only thing I would recommend to be added to the cabins is a curtain at the front of the room, though I appreciate that would somewhat hamper the rainforest aesthetic. We loved the relaxed atmosphere and even saw a peacock on our balcony one morning. The cabin was clean and tidy and we found the staff to be warm and friendly. Thank you.
Beautiful clean accommodation located in an amazing country setting listening to the birds and seeing the lovely butterflies. The kids enjoyed the pool and the Pre ordered toasties and coffee to go on our leaving morning was so convenient to start our road trip. The staff were friendly and helpful was the perfect place to stay in Cooktown. Five stars from us!
