Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A beautiful and relaxing setting and very welcoming. The room had everything we needed and was very comfortable. Delicious and affordable brekky. (And the fluffiest pillows ever!!). Will definitely visit again.

Quite superb! The amenities are generous and high quality, the cottage very clean and well-designed, the outlook to rainforest just delightful, and the hosts couldn't have been more helpful. We felt revivied after a poor Cairns motel experience.

Loved this place and Cooktown generally. Accommodation is very comfortable and well set up, peaceful and with a lovely verandah where you can spend hours listening to birds, reading etc. It is a very short drive out of town. We stayed two nights. Helpful and friendly owners. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

Gorgeous wood cabins. So clean and fresh. Everything you need on hand. The bed was huge and super comfy, and the bathroom clean and fresh. It was just a shame it rained quite hard for our first 2 days, so really didn’t get to take advantage of the lovely little pool., or even to sit on the balcony amongst the trees and bird life. Thank you, we will certainly recommend to anyone we know travelling to Cooktown.

My partner & myself have just returned home after spending 2 nights at Milkwood Lodge. After reading reviews on here prior to our trip I knew we were in for something special & upon arrival we were not disappointed! The staff were extremely friendly, very helpful & even helped escort us to our cabin. The cabin was incredibly clean & tidy! We found ourself not wanting to leave the cabin as it was so quiet & peaceful. Sitting on the deck amongst the birds, butterflies & even got to spot the local peacock ‘Roger’. The king size bed & bedding was lush & comfortable also. Conveniently located in Cooktown, not in amongst the busy areas. We’ll be back Milkwood Lodge, thanks again !

This place is a little slice of heaven. Welcoming, attention to detail right down to a tiny little coaster for the organic toilet spray. Honestly just superb. The hosts are amazing. You are greeted by beautiful Edward the sausage dog and Lina the warrior Princess, there was another gentle old pup hiding under the desk. Everything is taken care of you would think it was just you in the world and no one else.

If you’re looking for a tropical retreat, this is the place. We stayed for a long weekend and really wanted to extend our time there. The American style wood pole cabins blend into the rainforest perfectly, each with a cosy balcony that just is perfect for a quiet read, while listening to the birds. The inside of the cabin was spotless and extremely well appointed with the living/sleeping areas in a stylish split level configuration. The couch, which could easily double up as a bed, was the most comfortable I’d experienced in decades of travel. The owners and staff were all friendly, and helpful. They always had a moment for a chat, no matter how busy they were. There are only a small number of cabins, so the resort is very peaceful. The pool is quite small, but big enough for the small number of guests, and was very well maintained. The grounds were immaculate, while staying natural and blending in with the bushy surrounds. This will be the only place we’ll stay while visiting Cooktown.

The cabins are clean, very comfortable and well equiped. It’s in a very quiet location just outside of town, perfect for a weekend escape. The large shady balcony is a perfect relaxing space for a long drink and a good book. The staff/owners were all lovely, helpful and very friendly. We didn’t use it but the barbecue next to the pool (which we used extensively) looked spotless and well maintained. We stayed for three nights and will definitely stay there again.
