We offer well-appointed, self-catering cottages in the wonderous gateway to Chillagoe-Mungana Caves National Park. Escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life and transport yourself into a breathtaking landscape where time appears to have stood still. Chillagoe Cabins are based on the design of old miners’ huts and you'll feel as if you have drifted back in time - there is even an array of historical memorabilia in each cabin to complement the old-fashioned exterior. However, this is where the kinship with the past ends - each cabin is decked out with comfortable beds and luxury linen that lures you even during the daytime, fully equipped bathrooms, kitchen facilities, and digital television. If self-catering is off your bucket list, then join other dinner guests for some real sumptuous home-cooked Aussie Tucker, and don't fret over breakfast either, because that is all part of the package too, with a great continental breakfast poolside every morning that will set you up for the whole day. For those who wish to self-cater, a barbeque near the pool offers another opportunity to engage with the surrounding tropical gardens. Chillagoe is located on the Tableland 2.5 hours west of Cairns and is accessible by normal vehicles while there is the weekly Savannahlander Train just down the road. Chillagoe is a world re-known tourist destination for its above-ground limestone caves formed from the great Coral Reef some 400 million years ago. There are between 600 and 1000 caves located in the area of the Chillagoe – Mungana National Park. The Heritage Listed Refinery / Smelter once produced lead, silver, copper, and gold for the economy. There are many ruins around the town to be researched and investigated as well as native trees for visitors to wander about and they provide a habitat for an abundance of wildlife or take a personally catered tour, where you can explore some of the most interesting sites in Chillagoe.

Chillagoe is a lovely little town on the edge of the savannah in North Queensland. It has a bundle of things to see and experience and there is no better place to rest your head than here.

Hosts Colin and Wendy are just incredible. Colin took us on a wonderful little tour around the sights while Wendy cooked us up a magical dinner. Just two great people who love where they live and sharing it with you.

And their cabins are just so sweet - comfortable and well appointed - even a freshly cooked biscuit to have with your cuppa seals the deal.

Just stay here - you'll be glad you did!

Last weekend we ventured out to Chillagoe and stayed at the Chiilagoe Cabins and what a treat. They look like little miners shacks on the outside, but inside is another world. We had cabin 1 and WOW
You come into a spacious private courtyard and then through the front door into a truly lovely an well styled room. This room encompasses a queen bed with beautiful luxurious linen and a small sitting area with two armchairs and a TV. There is a kitchenette fully equipped with crockery and cutlery a microwave and a fridge. The bathroom is a decent size with a good shower and they provide shampoo conditioner body gel and moisturizer. My Husband was particularly happy with the heated towel racks.
The price also included a continental breakfast or a home cooked breakfast can be purchased at a very reasonable rate. We chose the cooked breakfast and it was really lovely.. I would certainly recommend this. And breakfast is served by the pool a treat for one and all.
Lastly I need to mention the wonderful hospitality that we were shown by the new hosts Wendy and Colin. They went out of their way to ensure we were looked after and they have really made this place quite spectacular. They have creatd a true oasis in the bush and we just loved it.
If you are travelling to Chillagoe I cant image you could find a better place to stay we give it 10/10
Thank you for making our weekend fabulous Regards Jo & John

We stayed two nights. Nice cabins, well set up and the one we had was disabled friendly. Bed extra comfortable and wifi is available. No Optus reception in Chillagoe. Continental breakfast included in price was exceptional. Impeccably set up tables in covered pool BBQ area where you were seated, welcomed, and served your choice of juice, tea & coffee, cereal, fruit, toast and yoghurt. Other very nice welcome touch was the tray bought to your cabin by Wendy when you checked in, of homemade biscuits and a little silver milk churn of milk to have with tea or coffee. Very nice and welcome touch. We were lucky enough to be there on Wednesday night and enjoyed a delicious and very reasonably priced 3 course meal with Savannah lander passengers. Wednesdays are busy! Our cabin was serviced with clean towels and bin emptied while we toured the caves.
Hosts Colin and Wendy made us feel very much at home,

Wendy and Colin were fantastic hosts, serving up a delicious continental breakfast each morning (included in the room rate). For a few dollars extra you can order from a small selection of cooked breakfast options - also delicious! As it was wet season, Wendy also reached out in advance with some information about weather and road conditions. A large urn containing filtered rain water was provided, and served our needs for a 2 night stay. The pool was nice and cool - perfect after a humid day clambering around the caves!

Chillagoe Cabins is a great place to stay in the outback, with clean and comfortable rooms with all the amenities you need to enjoy your time with gracious hosts Wendy and Colin. A little dip in the pool and sitting around the attractive pool area with friends is totally relaxing. The landscaping takes the hard edge off the otherwise rough look of the outback. It is close to all the sites and town so no time is wasted driving to where you want to be. Watching the feeding of the galas is great fun. Can't wait to get back.

We spent a night at the Chillagoe cabins as part of our Savannahlander tour. Colin met us off the train & took us on a very interesting tour of the old mining town which included a visit to one of the many amazing caves, with a local guide Dave.

Colin & Wendy are great hosts, the cabins are very well appointed & comfortable, the white fluffy towels were much appreciated after a dusty days travel. The meals which were very tasty were served on a table with white cloth & flowers a nice touch, in the outdoor kitchen/dining area beside the pool. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay & would highly recommend it.

New owners Wendy and Colin have made these cabins so inviting .quality fittings beautiful linen lovely homely touches and they are both the most delightful hosts I think we have ever met on our travels both in Aust and OS.they really care how the place looks and go out of their way to ensure you have a very comfortable stay. Lots of wildlife around .complimentary continental brekky or for a charge a massive cooked Brekky. Lovely relaxing communal area and sparkling pool. For only having been there 6 months you can see all the improvements and that they really care about appearance of the property. We lived the place will be back to see main caves as was a 'll booked when we were there. Plenty of other sites to visit. Be prepared for dirt roads around Chillagoe. Thanks Wendy and Colin can't wait to see the place next time we visit. I hope that you get lots of visitors and they also enjoy your property as we did .Ros and Rob Sellick

We stayed at Chillagoe Cabins in early January. The weather was hot and humid but the welcome we received from Wendy and Colin was wonderful. The service started even before we arrived, with a courtesy call from Wendy to advise on road conditions before we headed out to Chillagoe. The room was lovely - perfect for our family - the pool was inviting and the breakfast was first class. We payed a few dollars more for a cooked breakfast, but even with that our stay was amazing value considering how lovely it was. Chillagoe Cabins is probably one of the nicest little places that we have stayed at anywhere in Australia. Well done to Wendy and Colin for making the move from NZ - we hope you stay for a while yet, because we are sure to come back to Chillagoe Cabins to enjoy your warm and friendly hospitality once more.

Wendy and Colin are wonderful hosts who really made us feel very welcome and at home in their bnb. The private en-suite cabin was very clean and cosy with a well equipped kitchette to prepare meals, excellent hot shower and comfortable bed with quality linen. It felt quite luxurious after our days spelunking through caves. The continental breakfast included in the price was great. From what I observed Chillagoe Cabins is the best accommodation in the area and Colin and Wendy are very helpful with suggestions of places to visit and things to do. Nothing was too much trouble. Definitely highly recommended.

From arrival, both Scott and Wendy were friendly and pleasant to deal with, genuinely enjoying the company of their guests. After showing us to our cabin and explaining how everything works we then started to notice the extra mile that had been taken to make things homely and comfortable. The cabin was impeccably presented and clean, smelt fresh - this was also noted by other groups we spoke to during our stay. We valued the privacy afforded by the clever fenced design around each cabin - great to relax outdoors and watch the stars. The gardens were lovingly maintained and green! Breakfast was outstanding, served by the pool with friendly service. A lovely town, with Wendy providing a range of local guides and tours. Would recommend unreservedly.
