Over night stay provided us with an attitude from the park management of well they can be shoved in this corner in the sun.
There were plenty of shaded sites however they placed us in full sun.
We asked for an ensuite site and were informed they were not available for overnight stays.
Our camper was less than a normal slab site to the next camper.
The amenities were clean however they supplied material bathmats which I found strange as how many people use the showers.
At least it is quite so you can sleep well.

Was disappointed with the furniture in the combined lounge / dining room. The couch was very worn and damaged which had tried to be repaired with black tape, however the tape had come off and left a sticky residue. There was also a hole in the floor in the small bathroom. Apart from that the 2 bedroom unit was well stocked with everything you needed to prepare your own meals, and the area we were in, despite backing on to the road, was quiet and private. We were arriving late and the owners arranged for the key and instructions to be left in their letterbox. I got to chat briefly to the owners in the morning when I was checking out and they were friendly and helpful. If I found myself in Charters Towers again, I would likely try to find somewhere else to stay - however if you are looking for a self-contained unit for a family at a reasonable place, the Charters Towers Tourist Park should be considered.

HI Kate, Very sorry unfortunately all our guests do not look after our room. We have had a new couch on order for over 6 months which have now arrived. We are waiting on insurance to repair the the floor in the bathroom which is caused from dripping water from the shower screen over a period of time. We are on a waiting list for insurance as we are not classed in the high category due to recent flood repairs down south. I hate to see our cabins damaged also as it breaks our heart that other people treat our rooms like this . The sofa couch that you are referring to was not even a year old. Thanks for your review . Certainly not the way we want our rooms to look and not want we want to supply our guests.

Good things: Balcony to sit on and have cuppa with view over next door park, fresh modern decor, clean smell, ceramic double hot plate, shower size good. Car park right next to unit. Comfortable queen size bed.
Not so good: Wifi wouldn’t work at all, tiny tiny en-suite, shower door couldn’t fully open as it hit the washbasin. TV on wall well-positioned for bedroom but only partially visible from sofa. No bedside lamps. No frypan for hotplate, had to drag out the big electric frypan just to cook eggs (pain to clean up).
But overall, good for the price for one night. If there longer would have had to sort out the Wifi.

The park was nice enough except the lady on the reception was a bit grumpy. Our family was travelling in 2 groups and although we requested to be beside each other, this did not happen. The park was not full. The camp kitchen was disappointing as the BBQs were dirty so we decided to cook on our own facilities. Whilst not entirely the fault of the park (maybe the people cooking before us), it looked like it had been dirty a while. Suggest the park mtce include a regular check of these facilities. Kitchen also operates with a number of power boards with multiple attachments which kept shorting out. A bit risky. Suggest an electrician call to update the wiring. Toilet and shower amenities were clean. Park is in a good location but we would stay elsewhere next time as we did not feel welcome.

Sorry to hear your comments I’m and not sure why you why not side by side as I don’t know when your where in the Park ,we do our best to fill guests request but we can not guarantee you get exactly what you want as things change and people stay longer than planned which than makes it hard and unless your sitting in the seat with the booking chart you would not know of the day to day movement we need to do as circumstances change for each guest . As for the BBQ yes they are cleaned everyday around 10 am but we cannot be there after every person uses them to clean them. We have signs asking people to please be respectful of the next person wanting to use the bbq but as you can see this does not work. In March 2016 50 thousand dollars was spent upgrading the power on that side of the park so and upgrade is not needed. The power board at the camp kitchen is brand new and so are the appliances which were recently all tagged and tested by a electrician . The camp kitchen is there for guests to use but you also said you have your own appliances to use which you did do so it’s not like your were disadvantaged by our complimentary kitchen not being up to your standards . We have a security camera in the camp kitchen to watch what takes place in there as people mess with power and play with switches that they shouldn’t be touching at all and yes two out of five people walk away and do not clean the bbq . I have been in customer service for over 35 years and not once have I ever been told I was grumpy and in no way would I ever go out of my way to make a customer feel unwanted . I normally see guests on check in and after not I do not get out of the office to make you feel u welcome. I would love to have a conversation with you regarding your stay with us so I can see how you were made to feel uncomfortable . Thanks RayLea

The park itself is pretty ordinary and the amenities are fine but we had a very bad experience being guided into a drive through by one of the staff. He didn’t do a very good job and the result was damage to our van from the corner of the metal roof of the camp kitchen. He immediately blamed us although it was clearly his fault, with very poor signals, but even worse he shot off without even a backward glance. Had we not arranged to meet up with friends we would have left and requested a refund. This incident was witnessed by others and one couple immediately offered to support us with our claim. I have backed and guided us into 50 + sites and never had a problem so beware and do it yourself

We booked 3 nights in a powered site. Were given a great grassed site. We were lucky enough to be there on Saturday night when there was a camp oven roast dinner and dessert available. Cost $25 per head. The roast meat (pork & beef) was so tender with lots of vegetables and gravy. Dessert was the most scrumptious apple crumble. I just wish it was on again the next night. It was extremely popular you must book early.

Would certainly recommend this park.

We were on a road trip which included a night in a cabin in Charters Towers.
The check-in was good and the cabin had been refurbished but littered around the room were draconic notices - ïf you do this, we will charge you $220 , for something else, another $220 etc,
One notice is enough and we won't be going back. The wifi didn't work

The cabin’s bed light didn’t work and the shower dripped such that we had to engineer a towel to absorb the noise. Reported it and were assured it would be looked into. Returned later in the day and couldn’t get in as the door lock was dodgy. Took 5 minutes of manipulation to get the lock open. Discovered neither light nor shower had been repaired. Had to silence the drip again to go to sleep.

Woken at 12:30 on the second night by the smoke alarm in full scream. Waved a towel at it and it stopped. No evidence of smoke or dust. Got to sleep eventually when the adrenaline subsided. The alarm went off again at 6:25 am again no apparent reason.

Took the staff through our experience and their response was:

Light needs a new ballast, don’t have one!
Shower tap needs reseating. Haven’t got time!
Smoke alarm - well it could be the battery but they have been checked lately!
Lock - we use a master key and didn’t notice anything.
I remained polite throughout as I have owned and run holiday accommodation and understand the challenges. I was amazed at the absolute lack of concern or apology for our poor experience. I didn’t mention the fluff blowing around on the floor. The grit underfoot or the missing architrave and mould in the bathroom. I didn’t feel they were interested.
We have stayed in hundreds of cabins across Australia and this park had the most disinterested management we have ever experienced.

We stayed in a 1BR superior cabin. It was a comfortable size for the 2 of us. It was well equipped for independent travellers. The cabin was clean and tidy. The bed was comfortable. The shower had good flow of hot water. The bedroom aircon was effective but the aircon in the living area was slow to cool the room after a hot day. There was a small swimming pool that was clean, not too cold and had a spa. Wi-Fi was ok. The manager was very friendly and helpful.

Our family of 4 including 2 teenagers are staying tonight in a 2 room cabin. Rooms are at each end of the cabin which is great. Kitchen/lounge in middle offer basic comforts including good sized fridge & microwave. 3 air conditioners make for a comfortable temperature within room. There is a pool next to cabin, a verandah at front of cabin and all far enough from the road so as the not be too noisy. Everything you need for a quick stop over while on a roadtrip.
