Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Good and bad with this accommodation. Very affordable price with big room, great big comfy bed, big flat screen tv and 2 fantastic recliner chairs. Refurbishment had been started in the bathroom but tiles still the same old tired 70's style. Painting needs to be completed where built-in furniture had been replaced. Dining room had an old fashioned look to it with old fashioned meals. Huge. We had the steak and chicken schnitzel and definitely the best we've had in a long time. Great value for money, would definitely stay again and certainly would recommend.

Budget motel, staff are so friendly and having daily house keeping is so nice.
The beds are comfy, Shower is really nice and it was great to have cold bottled water in the fridge.
We couldn’t believe how quiet it was and convenient to restaurants and the shopping area.
Plenty of parking.
It’s nice having the doors on both sides to can over look the beautiful park across the road as well.
It’s just small country motel nothing fancy but it’s comfy.

Don’t judge a book by its cover.
From the outside the place doesn’t look that flash, but the rooms are renovated and clean and tidy.
The best bit though is the restaurant, my steak was cooked perfectly. There’s a good whiskey and wine selection considering the location.

Unfortunately the photographs do not tell the whole story. Be prepared to be disappointed as the accommodation we were given bordered on disgusting e.g. carpet totally stained and dirty, queen bed had a bad smell, cups stained, fridge door handle dirty, bathroom floor tiling stained and dirty, shower cubicle rusty and floor stained, toilet bowl stained with black yes! black ring at water level, behind toilet floor was stained and dirty. My suggestion is look before handing over your money as we did not and we were caught. On the up side Woolworth got to sell us sanitised wipes and disinfectant spray.

Do not stay in this absolute dump of a "motel" and I use the term "motel" very loosely here.

I cannot convey strongly enough how disgusting this place is, carpet completley covered in stains, enormous holes in the ceiling and broken furniture stacked up all over the hotel grounds. Disgusting meals which would be great if you’re a fan of medium rare chicken.

The owners and staff are rude, arrogant, unhelpful and completely incompetent. Management seem to think that they are running a 5 star hotel in downtown New York and are seemingly unaware that “motel” fails to meet the most basic standards expected of accommodation in a first world country.

We came in late on a Monday afternoon after a long trip. We were told that there was a room for the night and that it cost $120 - he said 'is that OK?' I should have looked at the room before paying it!! He told us that it was right around the back away from the traffic noise. It is actually in a renovation site with broken concrete rubble on the door step, a ladder beside it to get to the window above us, some broken old chairs and a long pipe going up to the window. So that is what "welcomed" us. Inside is very small, the fridge was off and had stale water in the bottom of it, there is falling off silver foil on the window to keep the sun off. The good news is that the air con works, there is fan and the bathroom looks as though it has been done up. Is it worth $120? Definitely not!

When I called to confirm a room that was booked 12 months in advance I was hung up on by Julie who was extremely unprofessional who spoke over me saying "yup, nothing available thanks bye". I was not given a chance to speak. I will never book at this facility again which is quite disappointing as I have booked there 6 years in a row. Disgusted to say the least. Rooms are also well over priced Australia day weekend for the service and rooms that are available.

Don't waste your money on this facility.

I always stop somewhere in charters towers, for a dinner meal on the way to work. I never tried the food at the park before, but I seen a sign saying new chef. So I thought I would try it, and I am glad I did. Out of everywhere I have had a meal in this town, it had to be the best. I had a word with the chef he is very friendly and polite. He is very young but don't let that change your mind on the place he know what he is doing and a unbelievable chef. I will defiantly be stoping again

I think people have too many high expectations of accommodation in the country towns reading through the reviews.
I booked a block of rooms as i was travelling with colleagues from Brisbane and we travel alot. We had a mixed amount of old and started to be renovated rooms.
I had the most out dated room however in saying that, the bed was comfy, shower hot, clean towels with hygiene supplies, fridge cold, great service by Julie and the restaurant staff and chef, location a good 5min walk from town and a decent place to stay overall.
Other rooms the bathrooms had been done up and were much better looking but still just as functional as mine. They are slowly getting there with renovations so will be great in the future when returning to Charters.
I didnt have a hair dryer but Julie had one for me at reception so problem solved.
Yes its right near the flying fox park where the colony lives but it didnt bother me and not motels fault they set up camp there.
5 star review for my experience and expectations of a Charters Towers Motel.
