We stayed overnight recently and the host Cathy was very helpful on our arrival. The Queen room was very clean, tidy and spacious. The wifi was good and reliable. We appreciated the use of the complimentary laundry facilities. An excellent stay, highly recommended.

We stayed three nights. The welcome was excellent and the room had everything and was clean. The pool was sparkling clean and cold. Just what we needed. Everything was close. Food here was excellent. I had both breakfast and dinner. Great stay.

Room okay but nothing special. We had 2 rooms booked and on arrival one of the rooms had a very wet towel inside the fridge and the fridge wqs defrosting. Contacted the owner/manager and he did arrive to fix the problem or so we thought. On arrival he forcefully took towel from fridge and spoke very rudely saying you people come out from the city and turn the fridges up to 10 which causes the problems. We had only just arrived a few minutes previously so had only opened the fridge to find the mess. The only thing we expected was an apology, the fridge to be cleaned and turned back on but definitely not abuse as though it was our fault. After spending 45 years working in Hotels until my retirement 3 years ago I realise mistakes do happen but an apology goes a long way to fixing problems. I did complain on check out the next morning about the way we were treated but no apology just telling me that I would not understand how hard it is to get cleaners to work in the Covid situation and they as owner/managers have had to get in and do some of the cleaning themselves. When it is your business at times it is required that you step in and get things done. In most industries you just cant sit and count the money but sometimes have to be willing to work very hard and definitely do not abuse your guests. An apologetic email after check out would have solved the problem but have not heard a word. Will not be back. Think it is time Owner/Managers left the Hospitality Industry.

Dear Elaine, Thanks for your review. Naturally, posting a review like the one above tells a lot more about the reviewer than the property that is reviewed. The majority of your representations above are not truthful or indeed helpful. To elucidate what transpired, I restrict myself to the facts. You posted a review on behalf of someone else. You were actually not present when the persons occupying the room called the office or when I attended to the defrosting fridge. Shortly after arrival your friends called the office and complained about the fridge not working. A misrepresentation of the fact that the fridge was indeed defrosting. The staff member cleaning the room failed to note this on the housekeeping sheet. I tried to explain this to the person I spoke to on the phone and also immediately apologised for it having been omitted from the housekeeping sheet. Your friends appeared extremely upset about this small mistake. I then offered to immediately attend to this issue despite having to leave the office unattended due to my wife having gone shopping for kitchen supplies. May this be as it is, I went to the room and removed the drip tray including the towel that we also place in the drip tray to soak up excess water. The fridge was not messy or wet - a further misrepresentation to your above deliberations. Your friends made representations that the fridge was not working. However, the fridge was humming when I entered the room. I made mention of this to your friends. I cannot recall saying any of the comments that you purport in the above review and question its validity. In total, my attendance did not last longer than 30 seconds. The next morning you came in the office and ranted on about this incident for a good 15 minutes abusing my wife who was not present when the above occurred, made racist remarks about me not being Australian and that Australians would not behave like I did and on and on you went. You even invested the time to write a one and a half A4 page letter to me. I take the above rant with a pinch of salt. For someone who purports to have worked in hospitality for 45 years you have shown zero understanding of the situation we find ourselves in as the operators nor any appreciation about my wife's explanations. Let me assure you we certainly do not sit around counting money or appreciate your derogatory and arrogant remarks about how to run a business. We have been here more than five years but have not encountered a more unreasonable person in our time. Nevertheless, I sincerely hope you find some solace and enjoyment somewhere in your life.

We found the Waltzing Matilda Centrally located, cost effective, a good motel for a short stay. Staff very helpful with tips for the town. Clean and well serviced. Food available, but we ate elsewhere so can’t comment on that.
