The resort was quite basic with very little amenities for the price of the accommodation. We had booked and paid for an ensuite cabin. (no.18) It was clean and comfortable but the air conditioner was VERY old and inadequate. The ceiling fan turned itself off when on low setting. There was a fridge in the room, but no kettle so there was literally nowhere to make or purchase a hot drink when to restaurant was closed after 9.30pm. It was advertised as being open for breakfast but that was not accurate. We checked out earlier than intended to look for coffee/tea and breakfast as there was no self catering facilities either for those who had booked accommodation. The shower was hot and there was one towel each, a single hand towel to share and very basic toiletries. The room had no storage or place for clothes, not even a chair inside! We were woken int the morning by the resident peacock who had taken up a roost on our verandah rail. That was fine as we were up to see the sunrise on the beautiful Myall beach. Sunrise and sunsets on the beach are stunning. The pool area is quite untidy and needs some TLC, but the pool was a welcome place to relax with friends. There is a shop on site that sells basics when open (Friendly Grocer) open from 8.30am until 6pm. Local tours can be booked at reception or the shop. The restaurant/bar was quiet when we were there but the pub grub was good and fairly priced. there was a good selection of beers and wines and lots of space , a dance floor and pool tables for entertainment.

Very very basic which is OK, but it's fairly unclean including toilets and showers. The communal kitchen is terrible, really dirty, there are no supplies there, a few old frypans and pots, a filthy black kettle, fridge is OK, but nothing else, no crockey, utensils or cutlery. You have to byo everything but nothing tells you that before you get here. The little shop has some plastic & paper bowls etc but will cost you $20+ for a knife, folk spoon and a few plastic bowls. Rainforest is beautiful and food at Cafe is fine. Overall poor.

I stayed in a 6 bed mixed dorm. Very basic accommodation. 2 fans and aircon (didn’t need to use the aircon). 6 power points but not next to beds. Bed was comfy enough, however thin mattresses.
Receptionist was kind when I arrived however wasn’t always open during “reception” hours.
Poor lighting in bathroom with showers, and some doors damaged. Hand dryer damaged and needs to be removed. Shower pressure and temperature was good.
Kitchen… was in poor form. Two electric stove tops, both with hard to read controls. No storage boxes for food available, no labels to identify your belongings either. Only a few fry pans available, and one chopping board. Microwave usable. Friends tried to use toaster but it didn’t work. No sharp knives, no cutlery, no can opener, no drying towels. Thankfully I had a few supplies which meant I could cook but I know others staying in the dorms couldn’t. This sort of kitchen is fine for the campground side of the property, as campers are prepared with all they need. For backpackers, it is a real let down. Food at the pub was hit and miss. Staff in general store were kind.
A decent enough place to stay if you are looking for a nights rest, but be prepared to buy your meals if you don’t have a mini kitchen with you!

$100 a night for a tiny hole, tiny counter space, no hanger in the closet, no trash can, no chair, no table. The pillows had mold spots and paint stains all over the floor. You couldn't cancel the expensive booking on your own site, but 10 minutes later you found the same room on booking.com for $90 including breakfast (worth $10). The lady at the reception was very unfriendly and tried to talk her way out. Even $80 would have been a lot, but my rating would have been better if they had tried. The cleanliness in the toilets and showers was poor, paper towels and soap dispensers were empty for a long time. There are no dishes or cutlery in the kitchen. The bar staff was very nice, the location was great. Don't go here! Some of the friendliest staff I have ever met! The area was beautiful, and the rooms were pretty clean. Basic amenities that get the job done. On a beautiful beach, you are not advised to swim in the water. They even have a peacock that walks around in the morning!
Wifi was not included, and breakfast was not free for people staying in dorms. However, the food was delicious and reasonably priced. I recommend the Chicken Rosso!

Too bad for the price, $100 for a tiny room that wasn't even clean. The best water from the pipe, because directly without chlorine you were not allowed to drink, you should pay for the bottles at the bar. Food was fine. Drink selection good. The cleanliness unfortunately left much to be desired. No canopy up to the room, it rained 2 days at a time, you always got wet when you left the room for the toilet or into the shared kitchen, this was not even stocked with dishes or cutlery. Don't recommend this house!

Hell disguised as resort is all I can say we where there on the 15th of June visiting north Queensland for the first time, And thanks to the lack of good service we experienced here, We suffered, First they lost our booking at $150 for a cabin room, charged a extra $100.00 on the original quote & put her in a extremely basic double bed backpacker room that had a toilet & bathroom & fridge but so tiny with no room to put anything or hang anything. Also could not breathe because their was no security fly screens so door had to be closed. The neighboring room had security & fly screen so she quickly asked to swap rooms, they declined saying a media crew where staying there that night. Nobody used the room that night. I'm completely disgusted this was all at a cost of $250.00 a night. Be warned of this nightmare resort.

The 4 of us arrived after 6pm but the nice young lady checked us in before she went home. We decided to dine at the bar. There was only one beer on tap as the rest of the beers had run out. Only Italian food was available. The ATM did not work. We were shocked to see our room it was the size of a box. Bunk beds, a small double bed and an old fridge that had dirt on top of it. The room was different from those advertised on the PK’s Village website. The sheets were dirty, the room had not been cleaned and there was mildew on a pillow and my daughter who slept on the top bunk was being sprayed from water from the a/c. The bathroom door could not close. We tried to sleep but we were kept awake by the loud old air conditioner and by the man snoring in the next room (the walls were paper thin) but then the whole complex went into darkness as the generator broke down. It was a nightmare. As there were mosquitoes outside we had to keep the front door shut so we were in complete darkness it was being in a coffin. The generator broke down repeatedly throughout the night. The 4 of us had no sleep. In its hey day I think PK’s Jungle Village was a thriving backpackers resort but it’s completely run down. I met the staff and they all appeared to be British backpackers. I paid $230 per night for 2 nights for this so we left after one night and we stayed the second night at Cape Tribulation Beach House which is much much much much better for $300 for the night,

I wouldn’t stay here again. this was one of the worst nights sleep in fact we were supposed to stay 2 nights but we left after the first. There was dust everywhere, the floor was extremely dirty, there was water dripping from the aircon and the bed sheets were also dirty with dirt and mud marks. Not to mention there was a piece of rust on the pillow. the walls had dirt marks all over them. there was no tea and coffee making facilities. The room was a small cold (box) if that’s a way you could explain it. And to top it all off the power went of 6 times just in the one night we were left without power for up to an hour when it would go out. The bistro only consisted of 3 pastas and 4 pizzas, the pasta was $26 and was the size about a small heat up microwave meal, the pizza was very nice. Pks is a run down backpackers hostel and families should not be put in our position. One thing to say is that the receptionist was very lovely.

Booked in Oct 2021 for 4 nights in a family room for early July. We were totally devastated when we received an email from PK’s 3 weeks before our trip - cancelling our booking! No explanation. I rang the next day to be informed by a girl that all accommodation is cancelled for 6 weeks due to maintenance. Found out from another company near by that this was a LIE! PK’s had signed a contract with a film crew - they booked out the entire complex. No help was offered to me to find new accommodation. We did visit PK’s and were so glad we didn’t stay…it was dead, no atmosphere, the most unhappy bartender we have ever seen. Couldn’t get food. The whole place looks nothing like their photos! Run down and tired staff, very few customers. What a waste of a beautiful space - Hope the film (GWTF) payed you enough!
