We booked two rooms at Safari Lodge on Bookings.com for our four travellers. One twin room was listed as a King cabin, the second was a double. The King room has a toilet and shower, the double does not. This was initially a bit of a shock for our daughters as they had to use the shared facilities - however these were close and *very* clean. We had a great night at the location, so would not hesitate to recommend (the staff at reception and the Turtle Cafe were really helpful and friendly). My only reservation for other travellers is that Cape Tribulation is a remote stop and might be best visited on a day trip from Port Douglas as there isn't much to do there (you cannot swim at the beach due to marine stingers and crocs, and there are only a few public forest walks).

Thank you so much for your thoughtful review! We're glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay and found our team to be helpful and friendly. We strive to provide clear information in our listings, and we are sorry to hear of your daughter’s initial shock at the shared bathroom as it is clearly noted on all of our booking pages. We are however happy to hear they found the shared facilities to be extremely clean and welcoming. While Cape Tribulation is indeed a remote stop, there is much to do here other than National Park walks and it truly warrants an overnight or even an extended stay. In addition to fresh water swimming holes, you can enjoy exciting activities like reef tours, horse riding, ropes courses, guided walks and fruit tasting, to name a few. Plus, various beaches to explore, despite not being able to swim, there’s always something to keep you engaged and entertained. Thanks again for the feedback and for choosing to stay with us! Hope you have some great memories of your time in the rainforest! Team Safari Lodge

Safari lodge is a great place to stay in Cape Tribulation. It’s in a great location with easy access to the Dubuji boardwalk taking you on a tour through the rainforest, as well as to an easy path leading you to the beach. There is a pub and a little shop across the road. Whether you opt for a cabin or a campsite the area is well shaded with the feeling of really being surrounded by nature. The amenities are well taken care of and there is a beautiful open camp kitchen overlooking the pool area. The staff at reception are super helpful and will help you to organize your time in Cape Tribulation. I would highly recommend a half day snorkel tour to the outer reef with Ocean Safari while you are here as well. It was a 10/10

Stayed in one of the 4 bed huts and it was amazing! A week prior to staying at Safari Lodge I was at PK's across the road and for the same price this place is 100x better.
The accomodation was clean and comfortable, everything in the room worked great. The kitchen was well stocked with a decent sized fridge, pots/pans and cutlery etc. The bathrooms were spotless and I love the companies approach to sustainability.
They have cute chairs to sit in the common area and a giant connect 4 game. Not to mention the cafe out the front is delicious and very well priced.
10/10 loved everything here.

We paid $215 a night for a cabin and when we arrived the room was undone. The used towels were still there, and the bed were messy. We shrugged our shoulders saying the staff might be busy and waited for them outside the room to finish cleaning. We also realized that there were no closets for your bags and clothes. They don't clean your room everyday too. You might want to bring a little broom and a dustpan or a mini vacuum if you want to stay for more than 3 days. You can't even borrow from them. They don't take out the trash as well. So don't forget to bring trash bins to replace the one that was provided on your first day. I called the reception and they said, their lodge doesn't work like a hotel. They have a shared kitchen where you can have your coffee. You will use the mugs that were used by hundreds of people perhaps which is not sanitary for me. You have to walk from your cabin to the shared kitchen to get your coffee in the morning and/or order from the Coffee shop. Although, the shared kitchen is huge with complete amenities, I would still suggest having a kettle and mugs for the cabins. The pool is not as big as I expect it to be, and the dogs were swimming in the pool. I love dogs but I am not sure if it is okay for your kids to swim with dogs inside a small pool. The place is near a playground, convenient store and the beach which is really good though. We still made the most of our stay.

We appreciate the feedback and are disappointed to know that your stay wasn’t as you or we had hoped for. We are sorry that there was some confusion upon your arrival and that the room wasn’t ready for you at the time. Once our team realised the mistake they did rectify it as soon as possible for you and you were offered a complimentary coffee from the cafe while you waited. We are an eco lodge, off grid and in a national park so we have to be resource conscious, not your typical hotel. In keeping with this we don’t refresh rooms daily, we do however offer this service to every two days. We apologise as this seems to have been overlooked during your time here. We clean and sanitise all common areas including all kitchenware and utensils daily. We also operate a cafe brewing specialty coffee daily. All images and descriptions on our booking sites are indicative of what you can expect on arrival with regards to room inclusions, furnishings and on site facilities, we are disappointed that there seems to have been some dissatisfaction on your part with regards to the room setup and inclusions as this information was noted on your booking site. Despite the above we are happy you made the most of your time here and we hope you throughly enjoyed your time exploring Cape Tribulation. Team Safari Lodge

I stayed in the cabins at Safari Lodge. They also have camping sites.
They have shared or solo options cabins, with or without bathrooms.
The cabins look new to me - can’t be older than a year. They contain comfortable bed/s, bathroom good (shower, toilet, sink)
The grounds and huts are clean and everything’s well maintained - cabins, kitchen and grounds.
There’s a shared kitchen (well appointed and clean), and a shared bathroom is available.
The accommodation at Safari, whichever option you choose, is inexpensive and nice.
But accommodation isn’t why you come to Cape Tribulation….. the rainforest walk virtually across the road is Beautiful. The beach is also a short walk away but the crocodiles like it too so safer to swim at the on-site pool or waterhole nearby. The rainforest and beach are good for walking/running.
There’s there’s a takeaway place down the road (Masons, good burgers) and cape tribulation’s supermarket is across the road.
If you’re staying on Cape Tribulation Safari Lodge is in a great position and allows cost control. Worth the visit.

I loved the cottages, so comfortable serene in the rainforest. I could not get enough of the sounds of the rainforest the birds the bugs the rain. Having a kitchen was so handy for a solo as well as a for a couple. I was traveling alone and appreciated eating in by myself and arranging my own meals, especially dinner. The only thing i can success to improve the experience, is the bed having coasters to stop it from rolling so easily.
I look forward to staying here again.

For us, Safari Lodge missed the mark. We would have been more happy with our stay had the price not been so steep. We stayed in a private cabin which, upon arrival, was damp and stuffy. We of course expected humidity and rain in the tropical area, but did not expect our bedsheets to be moist or for the room to have an overpowering smell of mould. For $150 a night we expected the bed to be made and the towels to be changed but this did not happen. There was also no clear indication of where we could get safe drinking water and the cafe (that is advertised online as a real bonus) shuts extremely early. The overall atmosphere of this place was uninspiring and impersonal. A real shame considering the beauty and excitement of the location.

Thanks for the feedback on your stay with us. We are disappointed that it didn’t meet your expectations. Our housekeeping team fit new bedding (stored in a climate controlled room) to each cabin, prior to guest arrival. During short stays linen isn’t changed in guest rooms unless requested, this is due to our environmental practices, as we are an eco certified property. We are located in the tropics and things being damp can often be an problem during the wet season however the issues with the bedding in your cabin are highly unusual. Had you notified our office or housekeeping team we would have been only too happy to have new sheets and towels arranged for your room. Water from the taps located in the communal kitchen is safe to drink and is tested at regular intervals throughout the year with reports provided by council. Our onsite cafe is open from 7:30am to 4pm offering delicious breakfast, lunch and coffee options with three nearby restaurants being available to our guests for dinner. We are sorry to hear these times didn’t suit your needs during your stay. We do hope you otherwise enjoyed your time in the region. Team Safari Lodge

Beautiful, tranquil, clean accommodation just as described and as per the pictures. The pool was great I picturesque surrounds near the outdoor kitchen area. The food and smoothies at the cafe were fresh & absolutely delicious, with gorgeous staff & on trend music. I liked the peace & quiet. Walk across the street to PKs if you want some fresh, good value pub dinner & some Aussie old school vibes with free pool tables & rock...ACDC, sport on the TV etc. Best of both worlds set amongst an AMAZING rainforest - worth staying at least a night or 2 & try the locally made ice cream, for a little day out in the car. Love it in Cape Tribulation. Needed the disconnect.

The amenities block is a safety hazard at this place. The floor tiles are not non-slip when wet, and they are wet most of the time as the water from the showers tends to drain out under the door and into the common area. Also people are continually walking into the facility with wet feet. It's a big slipping hazard. No mop or any other device is provided to clean off the water after showering. This is a health hazard especially during this COVID infection period.
When I attempted to use one of the showers at a time when the only 2 other showers were being used either side of me there was NO hot water coming out of the hot tap when I switched it on. Not enough water pressure to supply all the showers.
This campground is inadequately provided with bathroom facilities for the amount of people they jam into the campsites, and the staff are not very interested in responding to feedback.

Thanks for taking the time to provide some feedback about your stay with us at Safari Lodge. The feedback we receive about the cleanliness and convenience of our amenities is usually always great and we are dissapointed to hear that they didn’t meet your expectations during your stay. The health and safety of our guests is paramount and our amenities block is inspected and cleaned in accordance with all current COVID regulations. Our team also regularly inspect and maintain the onsite facilities, there are no ongoing issues with the drainage, hot water or pressure. We are sorry to know that you experienced this during your stay however staff checked on each of these things after you had notified us and all was found to be in working order. Our housekeeping team usually do leave a mop and bucket in the bathrooms for guests to utilise throughout the day however on this occasion it seems it was over looked. We hope you enjoyed otherwise enjoyed your time exploring Cape Tribulation. Team Safari Lodge

A great site with excellent facilities. Nestled in the rainforest, this caravan park has a peaceful vibe and is super comfortable. It’s pricey, but worth it. The on-site restaurant (Turtle Rock Cafe) has free Wifi when you’re sitting at it - which you WILL need because there is absolutely ZERO phone reception out here. The staff are incredibly helpful and offered free use of the phone when we were trying to book things. Rather than a typical caravan park, this place has a bit of a ‘classy backpackers’ vibe due to its friendliness, inclusivity, and coolness. The atmosphere of the cafe at night is kinda rad - Sunday nights they do Momo dumplings and live music, and all the locals show up! The bathrooms are very clean and everything worked well, the kitchen is great, and the pool was nice. We didn’t consider the pool, but it was a godsend on a hot day because you can’t swim in the ocean due to stingers and crocodiles. There’s a small grocery store just over the road, and beach access too (so you’re basically on the beach). The only critique I have is that the caravan / tent sites were quite close together (we had neighbours on one side of us, and behind us too) but it was quiet enough. Also, the walk to the toilets felt quite far in the middle of the night.
