Detailed Reviews

We tried this “resort” after friends had visited the area. The bay and surrounds are beautiful with a couple of other bays to visit close by.
The resort caters for camping and caravans. It has several cabins and a small bank of motel type units and a pool. There is a sizeable cafe on site between the accommodation and the bay. This is where it went pear shaped.
We booked a “bay view” cabin, at extra cost. On arrival we were taken to the accommodation, which was a few feet from the cafe. It was 2.30 on a Sunday. There was live music blasting from the outside (only) seating area. I was not happy but was reassured by the young lady it stopped at 4pm. It went till just before 6pm, closing time and apparently this happens every weekend.
The cafe opens around 7am till 5pm weekdays and until 6pm weekends.
The cabin was more glimpses of the bay rather than bay view and I certainly do not believe it warrants the extra paid. As per photos, when sat on the patio, we are almost outside the back doorway of the kitchen, which is open, with staff coming and going, for 10hrs per day. Other cabins, within a few meters away, are cheaper and no different to “bay view”. Some cabins are fully equipped with 2 burner electric stove, full size fridge, microwave, cutlery and cooking equipment, others not self contained.
Our cabin (blue) was well appointed, very clean with air conditioning. The lady on reception was very nice and I handed over a list of a few things that I felt were needed to be added to the cabin when we were leaving. We left something behind and they were gracious enough to call and forward this to us.
I do not have a problem with the staff, area or cabin itself, but absolutely do not believe this particular cabin (and the one next door) should have an extra charge for a really bad outlook. A warning of this would be good so you can make a decision where to stay within the park.
We would certainly visit the area again but definitely not book the “bay view” cabins.

Love the fact this caravan park is a very short walk to the beach. There’s a privately run cafe at the beach providing a good selection of food for breakfast, lunch and weekend dinners. I stayed in the self contained pink cabin and my only complaint would be the tiny ants that made an appearance every now and then. The RAID spray the proprietor used when I told him didn’t work. The pool is tired looking but still refreshing if you don’t want to swim at the beach. If relaxation is what you want then this may be the place for you though best to avoid school holidays if you don’t have kids.

We stayed a couple of nights on a powered van site. Not cement, but roomy. Good location & a nice little Cafe by the Beach. The pool was dirty & not cleaned whilst we were there. The shower was full of dirt & leaves, however a big sign saying "Always shower before entering the pool or Spa'. No sun lounges or sade. Very old & cracked tiles & cement. Better Caravan Parks in Bowen 🙏👍🤔

I booked and paid a deposit of $145.00 and was not told until I broached the subject of a live band playing at the cafe attached to the resort on friday and saturday nights .When we arrived on a thursday we find our chalet was 5 metres from the cafe which is an open area and music blaring away on the music system , when I confronted the resorts receptionist , she merely shrugged and said even though they owned the property they had no control over the operation of the cafe . When asked if we could move to a quieter chalet she said they were booked out !
We decided to try and book into a different establishment which we did .
In the meantime I was told by a previous guest that only was there live music at the cafe on friday and saturday but also sunday and the cafe also had a special night on tuesdays were once again the music system would be blaring . I approached the receptionist again and was told we would forfeit our deposit .
I would never recomend Horseshoe Bay Resort to anyone from this unpleasent experience

We are sorry however the Cafe is a separate business and the operation of the Cafe is determined by them.

If you are planning a trip to the Whitsundays, make sure you visit Bowen and this beautiful hidden gem in Bowen, Horseshoe Bay Resort. Janelle was very friendly throughout our stay and made us feel very welcome. We stayed in one of the caravan sites with ocean view, site was perfect and my Mother in law's cabin was also immaculate and great value for the price we paid with an enormous bathroom. The views were spectacular across the bay and just across the road from the beach near walking trails, great snorkelling and swimming and the restaurants nearby were perfect as we did not feel like cooking. Bathrooms at the resort were very clean and great water pressure. I could not fault this place at all. Such a great family holiday and we will look forward to coming back again and again.

This is a lovely out of the way spot in Bowen we have now unexpectedly stayed at twice. The facilities are very clean, tidy and the kitchen extremely well stocked with everything. It's quiet and very close to the water if you are a boaty and or fishing enthusiast. The only disappointment was the wifi, which for some of us is an important part of our camping adventures, especially looking for the next place to stop and explore, I could not get any good reception to use even though I was told there were 'boosters ' everywhere. Lovely people running the place too !!!

Vans are squashed in, the welcome brigade of pensioners will tell you how to park your van, even if you can do it on your own. They are extremely clicky and do their best to act like they own the place. 🤣 Kids are not welcome here as I noted from observing, won’t bring the grandkids. As s matter of fact we won’t be back. 😡

Hi, Thank you for your review. We do welcome children as we have lots of families visit. We encourage guests to come to Reception should there be an issue in the park from other guests. Very busy here for the Nomad season. Hoping to see you again in the near future.

A lovely bay where this campground is sited. The pool area is very disappointing and uninviting, consequently, no one uses it. Communal areas are cleanish! The reception and office staff are pleasant enough.
The sites at the front overlooking the beach are beautiful but can be windy.
The best part of this camping ground is definitely the people- the other guests. Many of them are grey nomads who come every year to this park and they are the ones that make it so welcoming and friendly.

We decided that 4 of us would go to Bowen for one night and of course nobody wanted us for only one night.
The last place I called was Horseshoe Bay Resort and to my surprise they said 'yes'.
We arrived early and again were surprised that we could get the cabin.
Also I was told that they had already made up the sofa bed.
The Cabin is definitely one of the cleanest we have stayed in.
Just perfect.

A large group of us all booked different rooms on a weekend getaway. We arrived a little early and were pleasantly surprised that our room was ready and could check-in. Staff were very friendly and acted swiftly when our portable cot request wasn’t documented; after we were originally told they didn’t have one, but they did, but didn’t put it on our booking, confusing. We opted for the (Blue) Studio with a Pool View... not really a pool view - More of a wooden fence/building view (see picture). The room was cosy and could do with a bit of modernisation. The BBQ facilities/area was great. Our friends had a few garden view rooms - That’s what we’ll book next time. Great garden area for the kids, nice grassed area for the adults and close to the café/beach. Overall, it wasn’t flash but it was enjoyable.
