Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I have been coming to Camp Lakefire for many years now, mainly for fly fishing comps. But recent years have been with the family. With lakeside camping as an option this is a very desirable place to camp. Which is probably why management have decided to increase camping fees significantly. $15 a night per person (I have three kids) is just too much considering the lack of amenities (portable toilets or a long walk up the hill to a couple of dodgy showers. I'll definitely be looking for other options in future. The real kicker was being told to wear a wristband. I can tell you I didn't. I'm not a cow.

We stayed here with our family and our dog. We found it to be a very peaceful place and the view from our rustic cabin, out to the lake and into the tree tops was just amazing.

Unfortunately we brought our dog along (for which we had to pay extra) and she had to stay on a tight lead the whole time (understandably). I would recommend leaving your dog at home for sure.

We also went out on the lake in a boat for the day. We had to buy bait from the shop for $20 so I would recommend you bring your own bait and rod if you intend on fishing.

One of the highlights was just sitting around the camp fire at night. Another was waking up early and watching all of the bird life in the tree tops.

One word of warning - do NOT drink from the water at the tap which is attached to your balcony!!! I drank some at night and felt crook the next day. There was no signage to say it was bore water and not really recommended for drinking!! There are no signs on any balconies. I only realised it was really dirty when I went to fill up a water bottle the next day and noticed all the black bits swirling around in it!!

The staff were friendly and helpful. The cabins are simple and the facilities are clean but very worn out.

Have been going to Camp Lake Fire for a little over a year now. It's one of our favourite places to camp and have had amazing times there. But after the recent long weekend it will be the last time we will be staying there until things change. $140 a night for a family of 3 and otherwise was $120 a night for a couple. We were lied to when making the booking being told the whole campsite was full and that they were the only two sites left for the whole park which we discovered was a total lie when we turned up and there was one other couple camping. Which then leads to no atmosphere and shows that the management are driving customers away. The rules are insane - apparently you can't camp together, can't move the fire pit or camp in front of it, can't have friends visit as day guests are not allowed. And on top of all of that they don't sell bait. We were also locked into the campsite on one of the days. I find this terrible as if you were in an emergency and needed to get out in a hurry you have to wait for someone to walk from the house to the gate to let you out. Down the bottom there are no porta-loo's.The management have ruined an amazing campsite and we won't be back until something has changed!!

Worst management at a camping ground I have ever visited!! The views are amazing but the management leave a lot to be desired. We camped there for two days with the option to camp a third. On the third day at 4pm we were asked to leave by management and were not given a reason other than that we had not been to the office to organise the rest of our stay. They were very rude about it and even accused us of not visiting the office even though we had been to the office at 12pm that day... needless to say the office was unattended and we were not even able to purchase ice on at 40 degree day!!! We were punished because they were not at the office!! We were asked to leave at 4pm on New Year's Eve. We spent the rest of the afternoon packing and driving home. Jan and her offsider were extremely rude.. the portaloo down below was never cleaned! There was literally no one else there because the sites are way over priced. It cost us $280 for two nights for two adults and two small children. $45 half a day of kayak hire and no boat hire!! My advice.. until the management changes hands, save your money and your sanity and go somewhere else!!

This is a beautiful location however recent rate changes are ridiculous. $30 per person per night with a minimum of two nights stay. For this fee you get ..... a portaloo without toilet paper and that is all. For access to the lakeside campground you will definitely need 4WD as a lot of the pathway is eroded. Apparently they don't have caravan sites anymore and it appears they want to discourage campers as well. If you've got cash to burn the upside is that you'll probably have the place to yourself.

Went to Lake Camp Fire for the first time this Easter looking for something a bit different from the beach. We had a group of 16 people.

Wow how disappointing. We paid $32 for 2 adults per night for 4 nights. Where we camped they provided 2 portable toilets. We thought this was ok as we could drive up the hill to have our showers. For the first 2 days all was well. The toilets were ckeaned qnd restocked twice a day. Perfect. By Saturday night there were approximately 150 to 200 people in our camp groung and still only 2 portable toilets. The cleaning dropped down to once per day and the stench was stomac churning. Drove up the hill to the toilets and these were a quagmire. Water and myd everywhere and to add insult to injury no hot water. Definitely not worth the money or effort. Very poor form.

Amazing place, went their last weekend stayed there for two nights. Perfect camping site, calm water, clean toilets one portable toilet near the camping site and few up the hill near the office.
Unfortunately the current management said that the site is stopping operation soon. The last date of operation is around Anzac day 2016. Hopefully someone takes the place over and continues to run it.

This place is so over priced for what you get. Although there are new showers and toilets the hot water runs out. Cant get a level site. People get there and block any good spots for their friends. Wont ever go back. There was no direction given for anybody who may gave a reasonable sized caravan. We paid for 4 nights and only stayed one.

Perfect setting for a relaxing weekend. Beautiful setting. Basic accomodation in a cabin with bunk beds for 8. Short walk to the facilities. BBQ cooking, indoor kitchens, small shop with some basics. Make your own fire and toast the marshmallows. Million dollar views, just don't tell anyone. Very quiet and relaxing.

A nice campsite with basic but clean facilities and friendly staff who welcome you to the park. we stayed at the park for two nights and really enjoyed our visit. Good place for boating and fishing. If you plan to stay at this park, don't forget the Starr gazing at night when sitting around the fire next to the lake.
