Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

I love this spot & have stayed here on a lease for 9 months. It was great until the place is packed out with seasonal workers, who make a lot of noise, leave rubbish lying around & SPIT all around the complex.
The property manager seems to be mainly concerned with the revenue he gets from the company who brings these workers in.
It's a shame, as it's a beautiful spot, but not very pleasant for the 6+ months a year that the seasonal workers are here.

We had a hard time finding somewhere to stay .
We thought this place looked ok and got a deal with 50% off the 2'nd night.($117 per night for 2 nights) .
The view was very good and overall the gardens and pool area was nice.
The beds hadn't been made up and no towels, this was rectified straight away.
The place was very dusty and had not been cleaned thoroughly for a long time.
Knives , range-hood and cupboards where greasy.
There was a warning on the fridge that it was insect season , so keep the screen doors closed, however the flyscreen was half stuck on with bright yellow tape. Not much point in keeping the door closed.
we had a nice weekend but the place is just not tidy enough to be comfortable in.

Lovely looking room and location but found it very dirty. Wore thongs in shower and slept in clothes on top of bedding. Ants in fridge. No toilet paper (didn't notice until past dark and nothing open) and very dirty toilet, TV didn't work, noisy as sleeping in a tent (which I wouldn't mind if it was clean and we had toilet paper), cupboards full of half washed dishes, no tissues, list could go on really. Pool also was filthy so couldn't allow my kids to swim in it! Thankfully it was just one night. Would never return. Not worth the $150!

Disappointing is unstatement. Booked a room 3 months in advance only to find out that the room I booked is no longer available (apparently a long term tenant). The owner then tried to blame me for their mistake! No mate, it was your booking system I used, not Wotif or any other booking system so it’s only yourself to blame for this situation (not the customer). Also, I don’t think it was (or ever will be) a good idea to blame the customer for your mistakes! And don’t worry, I’ll be posted this review for your “services” everywhere possible 😉

Room we stayed in (above reception) was absolutely disgusting! It was dirty - tried to get a refund and he said "your cleaning standards are different to ours". Everything that I mentioned that was wrong with it - there was always an excuse. Even the reception itself is in a disgusting state. Definitely not recommended - personally I felt dirty and unhygienic staying in this place. Cobwebs, animal poo and dust everywhere! There were even cobwebs in the shower. The floor was flimsy and felt like we were going to fall through! Worst accommodation I've ever stayed in. As a business, they have a responsibility to stick to standards in which their products comply to and this definitely did not.

We stayed for just one night as part of a flying visit to North Queensland in early 2007 and our accommodation was booked several months ahead of our stay. My husband is a fishing fanatic so we tentatively arranged to book one of the tinnies located alongside the Terraces, along with our accommodation, as they were run by the same people. Thank God the weather did not allow us to use it, as the photos of the boats on the website must have been taken about 10 years ago. The tinnies were in appalling condition, they were filthy rustbuckets that look like they like they would either sink or break down.On arrival at the terraces, the man in the office would not let us near our room until we had paid IN FULL for our accommodation. He then led us to our room which was located straight above reception. My initial thoughts were that it was quite daggy and fitted out with mismatched garage sale finds. This would have been fine had the room been clean but on entering we saw a large ant nest on the doona and an ant trail leading up into the bed and in the sheets. We went straight downstairs and asked that we be allowed to change rooms or have a refund. The man grudgingly agreed and led us to what he said was a deluxe room. One thing in his favour - he did not charge us extra for this room. This room was on initial inspection heaps better than the first but we were to later discover to our horror: a used cake of soap in the shower stall (complete with hair stuck to it), a massive hairball in the bathroom bin, the floor of the room was sticky and dirty, the coffee and tea satchels supplied looked like they had been in the room for MONTHS as they looked old and faded, the cooktop (which was actually just 2 hotplates with a power lead), was shoved under the bench on the floor and looked as if it had NEVER been cleaned. There was badly discoloured water in the fridge (my husband reckoned it looked like urine), the crockery and cutlery were mismatched and dirty looking and generally the place looked as if it had not been cleaned after the previous occupants. We appeared to be the only occupants of the whole "resort" so not sure why they had to give us this room. We did notice another room had the sliding glass door leading onto the verandah open the whole time we were there but nobody appeared to be staying in it - strange. My husband and I are not particularly fussy (in fact he has spent a lot of time in outback camping areas and cabins) but we did not feel at all comfortable staying here, it was just too dirty (in fact it was the worst place we have ever stayed at in terms of cleanliness). The genearal appearance of the outside of the place was not much better - it looked totally rundown and unmaintained. My husband insisted on showering with his thongs on and he slept fully clothed as he did not trust that the bedsheets were clean. I would have preferred to sleep in the hire car had it been bigger and had I not already paid $100 for the "priveledge" of staying in this so called resort. We could not wait for sunrise the next morning and our chance to escape. Only one good thing about our stay - the owner suggested we go to the pub in the main part of Atherton for dinner - he was right - the steaks were massive and delicious! Maybe Tinaroo Terraces has been cleaned up since our stay as the previous reviewer stayed recently and liked it, but I for one, won't ever go back and if my husband returns to Tinaroo he will stay elsewhere. Yungaburra on the other side of the lake looked to have MUCH nicer accommodation if you feel the need to stay at Tinaroo.

Worst place I have every stayed if u want a miserable holiday then stay here.
I have never meet a more horrible business owner in my life.
Accommodation absolutely disgusting filthy and we booked a unit for 6 people and where only given 4 pillows and 4 sets of sheets. Owner didn't care at all.
Ended up leaving the next day even though we had booked for 5 days... Thankfully much better accommodation up the road.

Good views from the 2 bedroom villa but everything needs updating. Small TV's, supposed to have Foxtel but I couldn't make it work - no guide/compendium in room to assist. Very basic self catering facilities - OK for two of us I used one hotplate and one frypan but I wouldn't want to try and cook a family meal.

We stayed in winter there was no heating it was 4c and FREEZING in the room

In general everything needs updating and/or replacing.

No nearby restaurants or take away - bring food with you (pre-cooked may be easier just heat up?) or use the BBQs onsite

I don't give 1 star often but this was one of kind. We wanted to stay at the resort, but there was a wedding on the weekend so we decided to stay this place. Upon arrival, we got bed linen at the reception due to we have an extra person, they could have put in the room but they just gave them to me. The room is enough space but not clean. Bath room was dusty and mouldy...But we tried to make a best out of it.

They have very basic kitchen equipment. They know will have 5 people yet, they only kept 4 sets of plates and cutlery. There was no extra toilet paper do each tune we had to go to the reception to get one. No paid/non paid wifi. Our room can't even get mobile network.

I don't think I will stay again.

We have stayed at this property many times before (this would be our fifth or sixth stay) and we intend to come back again.....why? The self contained cabins are perfect for our family. They provide a hot shower, comfy bed and full cooking facilities. The view from the balcony is great and it is the only accommodation that allows us to moor our boat in front of our cabin. There is a fire pit near the lake which gives the 'camping' feel. A newly erected volleyball court is a bonus for families.

As for the negative reviews on this site.... I think these people need to realise that you get what you pay for. This property is not a five star resort, but it provides the basics and a great location to have a family holiday!
