Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It was my mothers 80th birthday, and this hotel went above and beyond to make her and her husband feel special. The staff were so friendly and helpful and their customer service was outstanding. When they checked into their room they had been gifted chocolates and champagne by the hotel. The room was clean, comfy, large and modern and had great view of the beach. Walking distance to restaurants and bars as well as the water. Food in the bistro was delicious with a good seniors menu and drinks were reasonably priced. They had a wonderful stay thanks to the hospitality of this hotel.

Great location. Large rooms but tired and worn. Stained carpet. old TV with dodgy remote. Poor Wi Fi ( 1- 2 mb per second). Strange bathroom set up - opaque glass doors that slam loud, are difficult to use and offer no privacy. Very disappointing given the price and marketing. Nothing a good modernisation wouldn't fix. Not sure about pub meals as I walked out after being confronted by sour manager of lounge. Glad I checked it as we were planning to book for a week in March Also a strange policy of holding an extra $100 for a week AFTER you have paid and gone. Seriously - these days?

we booked in to One Four Nelson for 2 nights. It is attached to the Rye Hotel which is very handy for meals/drinks. The 1st floor room (lift available) was of a high standard with a lovely bathroom attached (great shower) & included a balcony with a beach view. The only grievance was the lack of chairs (one only) which meant you had only the bed as a second seat. Staff were excellent & friendly, would definitely stay again.

Booked a King Deluxe Suite and called the property to ensure it is at ground level with a walk in shower, instead of a spa bath due to a disability and a kid. All was confirmed along with late check out at 11 am. We arrive at the property and low and behold, the room allocated was an upstair room, and was told there are no notes there on the booking and we cannot be allocated a room downstairs.  The receptionist said she might know who we spoke to, but unfortunately they are no longer attached to the hotel. How convenient. More over, we were told there is an issue they are having with bookings with booking.com.   The worst part was she was now trying to put us up in a tiny cooped up room above the reception/pub, which was across the main hotel and smaller, saying there was an elevator, which I refused. Ended up staying in the room originally allocated upstairs, with unwashed sticky cutlery, because I could manage the stairs on the day and didn't want to ruin the much awaited holiday after the long lock down.  The situation was handled poorly and the receptionist never once was empathetic or apologetic about the mistake occured from their side and just kept blaming the lack of notes. Unprofessional, rude and sneaky! Didn't even bother to ask about the late check out, coz we were sure there would be no notes.  Tip: Get any special requests via email so you have it in writing, coz they are going to blatantly deny every word confirmed over the phone

An overnight stay to celebrate our wedding anniversary was delightful. The staff were lovely, and sent us up a gift to help celebrate. Room was big and beautiful. Was glad the carnival across the road was closed! A stroll to everywhere and across the road from the beach. Lovely night. Food downstairs was good too!

Stayed for 3 nights last weekend. Disabled parks were narrow. Staff were helpful but on arrival reception wasn’t manned and not accessible as couldn’t open door without help. Also access to reception was past overgrown plants blocking path. Rooms were behind a security gate. Room door difficult to open from outside and impossible from inside for this independent wheelchair user. Receptionists were very helpful coming to open door. Door needs to be altered so a wheelchair user can fully keep door open to exit room especially in an emergency. Shower curtain wouldn’t travel around the track. On last shower, water spurted from wall part of hose and also from shower head spraying water over half the bathroom. Reported this to receptionist so hopefully this has been fixed. Microwave and crockery was up high over a sink, not accessible for many in a wheelchair. Poolside room was ok but tv was too low. Discounts for meals in hotel were welcome.

Stayed here for two nights in February and we really enjoyed this hotel. Location is perfect, very close to Rye beach and just off the main strip. The room was huge, very clean and with a nice patio facing the beautiful pool area. I felt like we were somewhere tropical, loved sitting outside at night with a glass of wine. The staff at check in was lovely and very helpful. She answered all the questions we had and was super friendly. The only minus would be that the blinds on the door to our room did not really cover the window so the room did not get entirely dark at night, and for a light sleeper like myself that was not ideal. Also bathroom door is made of glass (?) and does not have a lock which some may find a bit strange. But, overall this is a really nice and well maintained hotel. Would definitely stay again. Thanks team!

We booked a King view suite when Victorians were encouraged to visit local areas after an intense Covid lockdown. A beach holiday seemed perfect. The room had a balcony as advertised, was quite spacious and was within easy walking distance to the best of Rye’s restaurants. There was a pool but access was not easy as the pool was in a totally different building to our room. There was however no mention on any website information or reviews that the room (301) was directly opposite the Rye carnival and next to the drive through bottle shop. The impact of this was very intrusive on a relaxing ‘luxury appointed’ holiday space. At about 5pm each and every evening until at least 11.20 pm each and every evening our room was blasted by loud music, the adrenal instigating carnival PA system encouraging the carnival goers to ‘get loud’ resulting in ear piercing screams, and flashing colored lights which could not be blocked out by the plantation shutters - a nightmare!! Covid restrictions also resulted in no daily service of the room. Extra towels, toilet paper and bathroom amenities were in the room and we could request more if needed but there was no bed making (we did our own), rubbish removal or cleaning for the 7 days we were there. Not quite what is expected when on holiday!!! The floor of the 2 person communal lift was not cleaned during our stay either. The Rye area has a lot to offer with nearby wineries, golf and wellbeing centers and Dromana/ Sorrento/ Portsea. The Rye hotel may not be the best choice for a relaxing stay during January.

Thank you for writing a review. It's unfortunately, that COVID restrictions have meant that we need to limit contact with our customers so servicing of rooms is off the agenda. However, if you called reception and requested some additional towels etc we would have been only too happy to provide these for you. Unfortunately, we have no control over the carnival and we weren't even sure if they were going ahead this year due to COVID. Rye is perfectly positioned to explore what the wonderful peninsula has to offer. Thanks, Vicki
