We staid in the sandpiper at the blue moon cottages. A nice cottages and with 1 bedroom, a kitchen (including oven en microwave), a living room with fireplace and a small bathroom. We staid here for 3 night and it is a great place to experience the area. We went wine tasting, strawberry picking and cheese tasting. All within a 1/2 an hour drive. The house was clean and had a nice first breakfast but cottage could use some painting work.
Thank you Sally for a lovely few days, always as usual great cottage. Thank you for the Pinot and cheese, we love coming to blue moon cottages, great bed, coonara wood heating just love it, thank you your help We will be back again Bill
We stayed at Blue Moon Cottages couple of weekends ago and had a wonderful time - the host shave thought of everything and i especially loved that i could bring my Aussie shepherd. The cottage itself was very well fitted and just super cute! location is fantastic with the beach up the road and all amenities. Thanks Blue Moon -we hope to be back.
I love this place!!!! My personal choice of course. Stayed at the sandpioer this time, they have improved it emensley, new bathroom, dining area, stove. So peaceful and closed off you have your own area if you don't want to be disturbed. Pet friendly as well took my mate with with me. Thank You Sally for the lovely bubbles and chocolate loved it. Will be back!!!!!!
We had our first furry family holiday at the Sandpiper cottage - it was a lovely, clean and very 4 paws friendly! We highly recommend for anyone wanting a getaway with their fur kids. Our dogs were cozy in their beds in front of the fireplace (as were we on the couch). It is located close to Rye, Sorrento, Portsea and Blairgowrie as well as the wine region. High paws for dog friendly! It was exciting to have a holiday with the dogs, and we had many enjoyable stops at the beaches, dog friendly cafes, the nearby wine store and wineries! We will visit again
A great place to relax & get away, you never have to leave your cottage if you like to cook..with everything inside that you need.... a great little place. The weather was cool enough for us to enjoy the log fire & made the cottage toasty warm in no time.
These cottagses are just superb, i have stayed in the sandpiper and anyone who gives these cottages a negative feedback are well may I say just plain fussy and looking for attention. I have stayed in the shell croft as well and staying i the shearwater next month. You have your own private courtyard and you can take your pet as well. Please try you want be disappointed.
We stayed in the Sand Piper for nearly a week early in 2016. We chose the cottage as it accommodated our dog, which is a necessity for us. The cottage is the smallest of three structures on the site, with a contained courtyard which is a big plus as we love to eat outside. I would have rated it 3.5 stars had I the option, 4 is just a bit too generous considering the negatives. But first... The positives: - Great communication, and easy access via a key safe - On arrival the AC had been pre-set to cool the place down and there was nice jazz playing through the TV - The cottage is well equipped (e.g. linen, plates, blender, coffee percolator, etc) no need to bring anything! - Totally self contained, there is an oven, cook top, BBQ, fridge, microwave, the works. - Small TV in bedroom is a luxury for us - DVD (although last gen) was nice, with a small collection of ex-rental DVDs - The cottage is a short stroll from the beach ("250m" is as the crow flies, about 400 to walk) and not far from the local strip - There's a great running track just a few hundred meters away. - The shower was great; plenty of pressure, and space for two - The cottage comes equipped with both an AC and a small fireplace - Ample off-street parking The negatives: - 'Free WiFi' was basically useless. When we could connect, the speed was limited to 75KB/s, barely fast enough to load modern HTML emails. - Advertised as a 'wood cabin', the cottage is actually quite ramshackle; the bathroom is annexed on, and the building is made of weatherboard. Several windows were missing fly screens or would no open properly, and there was a very active family of possums in the roof. - Although well equipped, most was poor quality (e.g. thin towels, 1-ply toilet paper, cheap chux) - Advertised as 'latest flat screen TV', the 32 inch Hisense was not the latest or greatest. In the bed there is a very small mounted TV (maybe 22 inch), too far from the bed to read the EPG/channel info - We were instructed to not let the dog on any furniture, but the bed we bought for her was better quality! The couch is old and had-it, and the bed sinks in the middle. - There was little hot water, enough for two quick showers perhaps. We ran out several times after ~10 minute showers. - not super dog friendly; no dogs on any furniture, no dogs left by themselves inside, and the whole courtyard is filled with small rocks that my dog really struggled with. - Taken together, these factors reduce the value below what we paid (minimum of a week - The traffic was just abysmal to get anywhere locally, and at peak season the whole area is just teeming with tourists (in a very bad way). This didn't contribute to my rating as it is out of their control, but I left it in as a warning. The fires in Lorne might have contributed some holiday-refugees too.…
I head to Rye at least once a year, always at Blue Moon Cottages, this time we stayed at Sandpiper, what a lovely, quaint beachside cottage, it suited myself, niece and little dog Daisy, we had a wonderful time on the Melbourne Cup Weekend. Weather good, and lots of cafe and beach walks. Thanks again. Deb
Had a great time at 'The Sandpiper', cute little cottage right in the heart of Rye precinct and easy 5 minute less walk to the beach. Very private property with its own outdoor BBQ area. Love the fact that it was pet friendly.
