Welcome to luxury, to wellbeing, to exclusivity. Welcome to Clifftop at Hepburn. From the moment you step into Clifftop at Hepburn, you're in another world. A world where flickering flames and floor-to-ceiling windows frame breathtaking panoramic views that plunge from the site of an old pine forest down a sheer cliff face, unrolling onto native bushland below. Clifftop at Hepburn, designed by local Daylesford architect Robin Larsen, is a spectacular getaway of uncommon design and unparalleled luxury...a retreat where daybeds sit suspended in thin air and private spas for two really exist. A place where you feel both at home and in awe of your spa villa surroundings, which include luxuries like an imported French fireplace, Italian Washplane sinks, Apaiser stone baths, decadent wooden floors, high beamed ceilings and wraparound windows that showcase nature from every room. Bespoke architecture and opulent amenities are common to our three retreats, but each also offers something special...a one-of-a-kind treat. In Serenity, pamper your body in the Japanese-engineered Inada Sogno, a heavenly seat that melds to your body and delivers the world's best shiatsu massage. Tranquility trades sensual indulgence for platinum entertainment with the Ultra Platinum Pro arcade game console, boasting a 26" inch screen for up to 4 player simultaneous game play. Evoke rewards your inner geek with the STERN Lord of the Rings pinball machine, where you're challenged to create, then destroy The One Ring. These quirky amenities are completely unique to Clifftop at Hepburn...you won't find them at any other retreat in the world. Perfectly tailored to romantic getaways and exclusive group escapes, Clifftop at Hepburn was created for sophisticated travellers who value high design, natural beauty and wellness with an indulgent twist. We specialise in honeymoons, romantic weekends, girlfriends' getaways and luxury family travel in our lavish two-bedroom, self-contained retreats. Book a private retreat, or share the space (and the cost) with friends. No other luxury Hepburn retreat is as spacious or as flexible as Clifftop. So just imagine. Imagine a leisurely evening in your private spa, sipping champagne to the backdrop of surround sound and a crackling fireplace. Imagine each night falling asleep to a towering wall of stars and waking each morning to sunbeams welcoming dramatic views. Imagine a retreat where you leave real life at the door, choosing instead to lounge in the lap of luxury...a moment in time dedicated to wellness and healthy living. A moment in time dedicated to you.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Property was nothing special, very basic and hardly the ‘luxury’ accommodation it’s billed as. Photos make it look a lot nicer than it is in person. Not worth the price they charge at all. Wouldn’t recommend staying here.

Just ok. Bit expensive and better options out there locally for the price. Host is difficult and would not bother returning. Nothing special and have been to much nicer places with better facilities, better views, and better service.

This proprietor is an absolute mad man. We were treated like children and the accommodations were less than 2 star to begin with. Just miss it and do yourself a favor and book something that is comfortable and not harrassed and overcharged.

Booked directly. Big mistake. Absolute nightmare of a host to deal with. Didn't even make it through the front door. After navigating a shocking website and then submitting a 'successful' payment, I received a 'booking confirmation', that actually wasn't a confirmation at all. Said confirmation came through a third/third party (that's right, another third-party that sits behind a third party). Despite this detailing a booking number, and a zero-balance owing, the merchant failed to submit a successful debit. We showed up at the office, closed. Got a call back from the most rude and combative host I have ever met in my life. He obviously knew something went wrong on his end and proceeded to pathetically try and bully us with a diatribe of how amazing his legal and banking expertise is ("I'm not a lawyer, but I have a law degree"), blaming our bank (our bank's IT team has confirmed the error was not the bank's) and attack us with loose allegations of being con-artists, failing to adhere to T&C's (that conveniently absolve his responsibility in this exact case) and going so far as to say, "why did you bother driving all the way here if you didn't receive check-in details?". Long story short, his merchant failed him, and the blame was on us 'apparently'. Instead of showing even a modicum of professionalism, his response was to be way too defensive, way too combative and transparently too quick to throw the blame on us and our bank. Thankfully, his aggregate booking agent saved the day, getting us into a different place (adding $300 to our budget).

Without doubt the worst accommodation experience I’ve ever had. I left within 2 hours of arriving after my water turned off as I was drawing a relaxing bath, then an hour later my power went off as I’d sat down to read my book, and I was left in the dark. It’s a tale of woe and, frankly, anger that one of the property managers gave a master class on how not to deal with a guest issue that is ruining their much earned stay. After tracking 20 minutes of trying to get help and find the property managers, David somehow managed to admonish me suggesting I was drawing too much power - sitting in a chair quietly reading - then became aggressive saying the look of annoyance on my face at his accusation made HIM feel anxious, followed by a raft of other aggressive statements that saw me go from trying to relax in a beautiful environment to packing my bars, ending my stay, and driving 2 hours home in the dark. Horrible. Horrible. Horrible.

Amazing accomodation , while it maybe in the center of town and other villas close by this accomodation feels like you are secluded and the serenity is as amazing as the outdoor bath (I need one at home ).. Owners really made check in a breeze and check out . Loved everything about our stay at the samurai villas can’t wait to try all you other venues. Thanks for making our wedding anniversary special and one to remember

We stayed in the Zulu Chalet, this was amazing, we had a couple of hiccups but was resolved straight away. Manny was very helpful. This property is amazing, views, chalet, and surrounds great. Very quiet place to relax, will go again and next time try a different chalet.

My partner and I only spent 1 night in the serenity villa and it was absolutely amazing the views are breath taking and the quite serenity is much appreciated, yes it is on a rd but you barely have any traffic passing by and you do not hear a single sound whilst at the villa, the complimentary champagne was great whilst we shared it sitting on the swinging daybed over looking the gully, the added bonus of an amazing massage chair was exactly what I needed before going on o bed, we did not want to leave and we will definitely be back again, we called the owner for directions and he was more than pleasant and happy to help out thank you for letting us enjoy this experience and very highly recommended

Disappointing in every way. Slick marketing suggests a luxury experience but it's anything but. Hanging their hat on the sustainable use of re-purposed materials, they could have at least used materials of some quality. Instead the "timbers" looked like they'd been sourced from CHEP pallets. Worse still, the workmanship was shoddy with cupboard doors not even being square. The blinds were cheap, the crockery was cheap, the electrical items were cheap. Don't waste your money.

The accommodation is well decorated with lots of light; however, my partner and I couldn't get past the noise. They are marketed as getaway retreats; however, they are located on a busy main road which destroys any sense of tranquility. They are also packed pretty close together so there is very little privacy as some of the big windows look directly into the neighbouring villas. If they were a bit cheaper and not marketed as retreats then it might be worth staying. Also, the owner is not at all approachable and is super aggressive/threatening to guests when they don’t leave 5 star reviews.
