Detailed Reviews
Both the inside and outside of this venue is beautiful, stylish and very appealing, we couldn’t wait to have a special family dinner here.....
Our table was booked for 7pm and we were greeted and seated promptly by a polite and enthusiastic waiter and the menu looked great.
All down hill from here unfortunately. Within 10 mins of ordering our meals arrived (to me that’s far too fast to cook, present and serve good quality food). My kids fish & chips and snitzel & chips consisted of just that.... dry unattractive bog standard food on a plate with a teeny tiny serve of sauce on the side. It was almost impossible to cut the fish and chicken. My husband’s $45 porterhouse steak (ordered medium rare) was medium well done and thrown on a plate with little to no attention to detail. My salmon was really tasty but presentation was really poor. Both my salmon and my husbands steak had a lump of frozen garlic butter popped on top.... so frozen it didn’t even melt on the warm meat.
All in all we were really disappointed, we didn’t even wait to order dessert so we ordered a taxi home at 7.50pm instead. Was Frangos having a bad night?? Maybe!

We stayed here 3 nights. Our room was lovely. Lighting in the room at night was somewhat an issue even though it had plantation shutters. With a lot of luggage hiking up all the stairs wasn't pleasant as there is no lifts. As its an old building just need to be careful with luggage as some stairs are narrow and some parts a bit uneven. The walk up the stairs is dark with all black decor.
Breakfast was nice but you are limited to one meal and one hot or cold drink. Any extra add ons in breakfast are charged.
Free limited parking available at hotel but entrance is quite narrow and need care driving in and out as it also has a dip in the driveway.
If you don't want to walk up a lot of stairs I suggest you find out which rooms are on the lower floors.
Location of this hotel is great, close to shops, restaurants and cafes.

I tried contacting the hotel directly to try resolve this issue privately... Unfortunately no response.
To The Manager,
My Fiancee and I we're eagerly researching venues for larger wedding parties when one of our friends suggests your establishment.
We then booked a room ASAP to ascertain the suitability of the venue.
Upon arrival we were stoked at how beautiful the venue was, the gentleman that served us at the bar gave the most excellent customer service aswell as the lady on reception.
We decided to have a few drinks on the Sunday in the courtyard out the back, we discussed how beautiful the venue was and were close to agreeing on locking in Hotel Frangos as our venue.
Upon going back up to our room that afternoon for a few drinks and intimacy, our door was swung open by a stranger who seemed equally as shocked to see the room occupied.
When calling reception we were told they would investigate this immediately.
Both working in customer service previously we knew that unfortunately sometimes mistakes do happen... We waited for a call back, we heard nothing.
Unfortunately we had to seek out ourselves why this had happened, calling a second time we had next to no explanation why this had occurred.
The keys were re-cut but the feeling of breached privacy had already set in, thus keeping our luggage in the car.
Around 6pm on Sunday night we decided it would be lovely to head back down to the stunning courtyard for a coffee and dessert, we were rudely met with wait staff who told us the coffee machine was off when clearly 5 minutes after deciding we would only have dessert , TWO sets of tables were served coffee.
Reapproaching this waiter he grudgingly took our order, served us the coffee and did not say a word.
Hotel Frangos, we were ready to host our special day with you if it weren't for the lack of management and rude staff.
I feel given the amount of money we spent and the advertised services and reputation this has been a total let down. We spent $600 on accommodation and additional in the dining and bar facilities over two days and feel this was a let down given the service we expected and the service we ended up receiving.
Please don't hesitate to reach out if you need anymore information.
Looking forward to your response.
Kind Regards.

Over the years i have visited the Daylesford / Hepburn Springs area many times. This LE Deal appeared to be a good choice at a place which apparently of recent times has an excellent reputation. Maybe we were just unlucky ( Suite 13 ) which was an upgrade - new carpet we were told - it took 2 people to open or close the door due to a shoddy job of laying the carpet or not bothering to rehang the door - not a good start! We have stayed in may hotels but this room was no better than what you would get at your average motel.....and no bigger. Not sure who selected furniture items for the room, i hear the area is quite 'bohemian' but in our view it seemed someone had shopped at an Op Shop! None of the decor matched.
The only saving grace here was the breakfast and service provided, as the evening meals were some of the worst we have encountered, and maybe we are getting old, but the loud music screaming from the speakers made it hard for conversation.

Hi Leigh, thank you for taking the time to review your stay at Hotel Frangos. It's disappointing to read that you were dissatisfied with your room. It's always helpful to know this throughout your stay in case we are able to offer you an alternate room. Each of our guest rooms vary in size, style and fit out, however I assure you that we don't shop at the op shop to fit out our rooms. I hope you otherwise enjoyed your time in Daylesford. Best, Louise

We (a party of three) arrived in Daylesford on a Tuesday evening which presented few dining options for dinner. Hotel Frangos is located in the main street and offered an attractive option. The restaurant, with covid restrictions did not appear to be busy- reservations were limited to 6pm or 7pm. The wait staff were friendly and efficient and our orders were promptly taken. The pumpkin soup was hot and tasty, the rocket salad which we hadn't ordered was quickly replaced with the Macn'Cheese croquettes-3 crunchy morsels which were would have had more flavour had they been hotter.
Our major disappointment came with a wait of about 45 minutes for our main courses which all came to the table cold. We were assured the meals had not been sitting in the kitchen awaiting delivery to the table. We immediately complained and there was an offer to re-cook the meals , but by this stage we reluctant to continue the experience and another long wait.
We received an apology and offer of a drink but after such an unpleasant experience decided to hastily retreat. There are far better places to eat in Daylesford, where the chefs take pride in their meals and far superior communication occurs between the front of house and kitchen. We did not enjoy the experience and nor did we feel that our complaint was dealt with professionally.

Excellent stay at hotel Frangos. Very nice staff and very comfortable bedroom. My wife and I have spent a lovely week end at this hotel. We already have rented several different accommodations in Daylesford during previous stays but we were looking for a nice location in the very center of Daylesford this time, to walk around and to do some shopping without worrying of driving our car and it was perfect.

We stayed here for three nights recently on our first trip to Daylesford. What an absolute treat!
Our room was incredibly spacious and decorated very well. We loved the paintings by Bromley and the chandelier in particular. Our room did face the roundabout and was a little noisy in the mornings, but nothing too disrupting. It was quiet enough for me to hold an important meeting in the room on Zoom.
The staff were all really lovely throughout the hotel and restaurant - special mentions to Abdel and Claudio who's playful banter had us in absolute stitches on more than one occasion. The atmosphere is lovely also and we loved the lights in the courtyard, the grapevines everywhere and the deep red roses throughout.
We booked directly with the hotel and as such got breakfast included in the Frangos cafe downstairs. Having a cafe style breakfast each morning (and being able to choose from the cafe menu) was very appealing to us and made our stay more cost effective.
Thank you, Frangos team for our blissful little getaway! We hope to see you again soon.

Hotel Francos is a fabulous place to stay. Located in the Main Street it has all the local cafes restaurants and local artist stores at hand. Each room has a different style and colour theme. Loads of wonderful art line the walls from local artist Bromley.

Frango’s is always open, but it’s not a good reason to eat there. Given the price point, the food should arrive at a correct temperature, e.g. not cold, and be made up of what is promised on the menu. The staff seem lackadaisical about the standards and took absolutely no notice of the concerns raised. This was not our first visit, but it confirmed that the research had come to an end.
