I stayed for 2 nights in December 2021 in a Waterfront Pool studio.
We booked a "Gourmet Escape" package which included dinner in the Lake House restaurant one night, and dinner served in our room the other night.

The pool studios are beautifully decorated. I would recommend staying in one on the upper level, as those that are on ground floor directly facing out to the pool are much less private. It was lovely to sit out on the balcony which has an overview of the lake, to read and enjoy a drink.

The bathroom supplies are Elemis and the heated flooring in the bathroom was a bonus.
The minibar is complimentary which was great, they use local beverages which is a nice touch.

The pool itself was heated to a lovely temperature, which was great as on the first day of our arrival the temperature was a brisk 16 degrees (in December!) and yet we could still enjoy a swim. There are limited chairs around the pool, and it was quite a busy area on the next day when the weather warmed up.

Our meal at the Lake House restaurant was superb, and the dinner served in our room on the second night was absolutely plentiful, we were so full.
The breakfast daily was tasty but a little boring - cereals and pastries, toasts and spreads were available to help yourself, and you could order a hot dish off the menu but the options were a bit limited.

I would happily stay again it was very worth the $!!

We were warmly greeted at reception by lovely Lily who showed us to our beautiful accomodation. The room was very elegantly furnished with a charming window seat and a decking area overlooking the garden. Very generous shower area and lovely comfortable bed. Every effort has been made to make guests feel pampered and relaxed. One of the Lake House’s great strengths is the staff, all of whom were very courteous and professional. Lily was a wonderful welcoming concierge who ensured that we had everything we needed. Staying at the Lake House was a special experience we can definitely recommend.

Our original plans to spend our 30th Anniversary overseas were waylaid by covid and a last minute opening came up at the Lake House. We snapped it up and headed on down for a midweek break.

We booked the Spa Villa and it was absolutely lovely. Seperate from the rest of the accomodation, it was very private and tranquil. Bed was extremely comfortable and we slept well. Only downside was the seating. None of it was actually comfortable enough to curl up and read a book, or sit and enjoy a glass of sparkling in the courtyard.

Food in the restaurant was superb, the staff were amazing and their wine cellar is full of hidden gems. As our accomodation included breakfast and dinner both nights, we were able to sample most of the menu. Standouts were the vegetable options for each course. The side dish of harissa carrots were so good, we would have been happy to have them as a course on their own.

Breakfast offers up freshly squeezed orange juice, coffee and perfectly poached eggs on toast with some of the best bacon and sausages we have ever had.

The hotel had a power outage just before dinner on their first night, due to storms, but it didn’t stop the service. The staff just popped battery operated lamps on each table and continued as of nothing had happened. Very well handled and a lot of places would have panicked.

We have just spent Christmas at this beautiful property. We had room 42 Lakeview room which was stunning, extremely spacious for our four night stay. Owners have thought of every little detail to ensure their guests want for nothing, to changing of towels twice a day , turn down service with a special surprise each night not to mention the beautiful lotions, soaps and products in the bathroom. Fully stocked complimentary mini bar, beautiful fresh teas etc , and this was just our room . What can we say about the food throughout our stay which was next level , the saying ‘you eat with your eyes’ compliments to our chef and the team for the incredible dishes presented to us throughout our stay. It is so refreshing to find staff who clearly love what they do, very accommodating, professional, nothing was too much trouble. The grounds are spectacular, it was definitely what we needed to recharge our batteries after such a difficult 2 years. We did not want to leave but we will visit again. We cannot thank you all enough for a Christmas we will cherish and remember!

We stayed in a Lodge Studio which was beautifully decorated and well appointed. Every comfort is anticipated and catered for. On finer days, it has a private verandah for outdoor relaxation. The bed was extremely comfortable and the small sitting area with window seat is great for a bit of down time. The bathroom is modern and spacious with the luxury of a heated floor. Breakfast in the dining room overlooking the lake is a treat and the cooked choices were varied and excellent. The added bonus is the spacious and cosy library/sitting room where coffee and/or drinks can be served beside a cosy fireplace. We had the four course dinner which was delicious and delicate and delicious. All staff are friendly and accommodating and all service, including room maintenance, was exceptional. We can't recommend the Lake House highly enough. One point which we did note that the hedge on either side of the guests' carpark to exit onto the back road is really dangerous. It's impossible to see cars coming from both left and right. There's a mirror opposite but it's of little assistance. The hedge needs to be taken back to widen the exit.

We have been dining here intermittently over the past decade and have always considered it to be one of Australia’s best restaurants.
The prices are not cheap but the attention to detail and the quality of the food and service has always merited the cost.
One of the other services offered is accommodation and we decided to treat ourselves to an overnight stay with dinner and breakfast included in the tariff.
The lakeside unit was comfortable, clean and well appointed. It did, however, also provide a different perspective on The Lakehouse from the impeccable approach associated with the restaurant.
1. There was an ambiguity about the mini bar that made us apprehensive about what was and wasn’t included in the room tariff. Coffee, hot chocolate and water were obvious. There were jars of tea, but tea was listed on the mini bar for $10 per jar, and we didn’t want to inadvertently commit to a $10 cup of tea. One other incongruous touch was a coffee pod machine, a bit cheap and nasty for $700 per night, not to mention disastrous from an environmental waste perspective.
2. Another contradiction in regard to environmental concerns was the amount of time the tap had to be run before it was hot enough for a shower. We calculated that the excess water costs would probably have paid for a dedicated flow through unit for each apartment and reduced water waste.
3. Reception was less than efficient in processing the payment. The receptionist put through the wrong amount initially, then amended the invoice but didn’t reverse the first transaction. A rather basic procedure in the hotel industry. If we hadn’t checked internet banking immediately on our return home it might have gone unnoticed for a while. This was especially galling when I have extensive experience in office administration and cash handling but have been refused work because of being 50+ years old and slightly arthritic.
We had really looked forward to this stay, but found it lacking the complete satisfaction of previous visits. We would patronise the restaurant again but would be apprehensive about the value for money and the enjoyment of the accommodation.

The Lakehouse check in was lovely, no queues, no waiting, we were warmly greeted the resort was explained to us and we had a welcome drink. Five minutes later we were in our pool side suite where the room and it’s facilities were also explained.

We had a private deck overlooking the pool and lake. Divine! Plus our luggage was already waiting in our room. Birds are chirping, the sun is shining it’s glorious.

The pool suite is a Compact lovely room with a very comfortable king bed and loads of cushions (which look pretty but take up some of what is already limited space) there is a couch, desk, coffee table and armchair. The outside deck has two wooden chairs which looked amazing, the reality being they were uncomfortable to sit on. The cushions on the bed did come in handy.

The pool is right there so all you have to do is open a little glass gate and you’re at the pool where you can order from a menu and eat poolside, basically it’s like eating on your own private pool deck it’s lovely. We were there mid week and did not see another soul around the pool for our entire stay this was sublime.

There is as a small storage wardrobe for your clothes plus a few big drawers. Coffee, teas and complimentary water, replaced twice daily. All the usual room amenities.

We found the Bathroom to be a slight let down, it’s lovely and clean with a double shower, toilet, heated towel rack great toiletries. BUT there is NO Storage space like none. No shelves, no drawers Nadda! And the ventilation fan is not strong enough the room getting very steamy and foggy. This meant, you had to wait until the steam dispersed before you can see in the mirror and all of our toiletries had to go in one of the drawers in our room, a small inconvenience but never the less still inconvenient. Plus we could hear people above us moving around, next time I think we would perhaps go for the higher room forgoing direct pool access. NAH direct pool side is best:)

We had the two day gourmet package and the food is to die for really excellent quality at all of our meals. Everything stood out even the scrambled eggs. The set dinners were truly memorable, plate up was beautiful. Loads of fresh produce some produced on The Lakehouses own farm.

Spa treatments were first class and the staff at The Lakehouse are all truly divine, exceptional, from all areas of the resort they are committed to excellence and just really lovely people. We could’ve fault the staff in any way and we felt welcomed at every turn.

The Lakehouse is a beautiful resort in a lovely setting, it’s back to nature embedded in five star pair backed luxury which, we, highly recommend.

Being a short drive out of Melbourne it’s a great way to destress and get back to nature whilst having the comforts of a first class establishment at your doorstep, you should definitely go, we can’t wait to go back.

My wife and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary at the Lake House and were astonished with the extraordinary high quality of, well, everything.

We have been to some idyllic locations previously where we have sensed a belief the scenery is sufficient to compensate for those small but important nuances that are the difference between a good and outstanding vacation experience. This is not the case with the Lake House.

Our room quality exceeded some five star venues we have stayed in previously, being spacious, spotlessly clean and with everything imaginable provided. Both the evening meal and wine were outstanding and the restaurant service surpassed anything we have experienced elsewhere. We thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to indulge in pre dinner drinks by the open fire in the library area while the complimentary local recipe tea upon arrival was a delicious surprise to welcome us to this stunning venue.

The location is perfect. Being on the shore of Lake Daylesford invites the stunning 2.8 kilometre walk around the lake while other Daylesford attractions are not far away.

Many thanks to Mitchell, Stephen, Phillip, Lulu and everyone else who made our stay so pleasant. We look forward to visiting the Daylesford Lake House again in the near future.

The only reason I removed rating is if somewhere doesn’t meet expectations as described & this was beyond our expectations in many ways & yet I booked a romantic birthday surprise & keen swimmers, plus I have MS & stay cool in heat by air con or a pool. On arrival were told the pool was not available due the dust & weather the day prior, signs were erected everywhere & so really missed the point of booking a poolside location.
When I informed reception they said I must have been mistaken as it was ok at 230, continued to I insist I must have got it wrong. After the amazing massage & back to our room we were out there on the deck at 530 & signs still up.
I booked a dinner & breakfast package, yet couldn’t find anywhere the details of what was included. We didn’t request greens or cheese, asked would you like it, to avoid asking it should be clear in the menu or checking in or online booking. We had an incredible mouthwatering experience & loved the detail & politeness & couldn’t do enough service yet a few communication errors we paid $ for that let the experience down. At that level of expectation you would hope for perfection. The same at breakfast menu is presented & yet we were unclear what was included etc.
transparency is a key to respect & this is an incredible delectable experience.
We could hear noise from the rooms next door & above which was also a little interrupt to our quiet romantic weekend.
Booked for the pool & never able to use it. Bit disappointing.

Magical. Peaceful. Delicious. The owners and staff seem committed to ensuring you have a wonderful time. I am trying to find the right word to describe it. Beyond hospitality. There’s a warmth and generosity here that makes you feel like someone is looking after you. It’s in the food, the decor and the attitude of the staff. We loved it all. It was hard to leave.
