We booked this Inn over the internet and as we all know, one really doesn't know what to expect. We were pleasantly thrilled upon our arrival and we had a wonderful visit at the Tides Inn. We stayed in the King Suite on second floor. It was fantastic. We had a full kitchen and this unit is very roomy. Two...

My boyfriend and I found this to be exactly the getaway spot we've been looking for. So beautiful!! The windy road to shelter cove may make your brakes smoke, but it is beyond worth it. I have yet to find another place where you can stay right on the water for such a reasonable price. We savored every minute. The...

The hotel is fine. Expensive but fine. The room was clean and the location on the ocean was beautiful. Getting there and finding something to eat and do is a totally different story. First, plan on almost an hour of travel time just to get down the treacherous road that leads to the cove. It is quite an experience and...

We are sorry that you had such a negative feeling about your trip to Shelter Cove. We were surprised at your review of our inn, though, as you did say that the "room was clean and the location beautiful." We are the least expensive inn on the ocean front in Shelter Cove, but I understand that an ocean front room...

We were so impressed with this place! From the detailed email sent before our trip to make sure we didn't have any surprises to the touring tips from Bill on our drive in to the extra touches in our condo. You could tell a lot of effort had been put into having our stay be as comfortable as possible. The...

We arrived at the Tides Inn at around dinner time after an entire day's worth of driving down from McMinnville, OR. As we pulled up, we saw that the hotel staff had put up a sign welcoming us specifically - by name! - and letting us know where we could find check-in information (given that they had left for the...

We stayed at the Tides Inn in early May, 2015. It was our first trip to Shelter Cove. The location was perfect, the room was wonderful, and Bill, our host, couldn't have been friendlier. The location, right on the beach, allowed us to see orcas, gray whales, harbor seals, and sea lions. It was a vey short drive to the...

We didn't know where we were heading, or how we even chose this place, but we are sure glad we found the Tides Inn! The road to the village was twisty, winding, and totally worth it in the end! We liked how the hotel was literally overlooking the ocean, and our room was the king suite with kitchen and balcony....

Our group of three couples spent 10 days in California, and the Tides Inn was our home for three nights. First, let me address the few negative reviews. The only thing we found on the down side was the drive in (after dark) to Shelter Cove from Garberville. Nice drive, but scary as hell after dark. The Inn itself lived...

The Tides Inn is a perfect place to escape the craziness of city life. All of their rooms are facing the ocean and have spectacular views. The ocean is literally just a few yards away! We just returned from a two-night stay at the inn with two other couples. We were able to get rooms that linked together so we...

Four of us stayed in two rooms. A standard 2 queen beds downstairs and a queen suite on the third floor. The rooms have sparkling new bathrooms. The Inn also has garages to park your car and 24 hour access to trash bins and cups, paper plates, etc. The gift basket is a thoughtful touch in each room. There is...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Tides Inn of Shelter Cove is Northern California's own little piece of paradise. We are on the ocean; every room with an unbelievably beautiful ocean view. You can sit outside, watch the whales go by and catch a glimpse of the moms and their babies. We have a family of sea otters right outside your door; sometimes they appear to be playing just for you. The tide pools below are choke-full of sea life. Everywhere you look, there is the framing of a beautiful photograph. Bring your camera, binoculars, and a good book and relax with the surf pounding on the beach below you. We have deluxe standard rooms and one bedroom suites, some with fully appointed kitchens. All of our beds are triple-sheeted with plenty of pillows. ... more   less
