Having no idea what to expect we were very happy we stayed - both in the village [Shelter Cove - where the only restaurant was closed] and the Tides Inn (with no catering facilities whatsoever). But there is an excellent pizza shop 2 minutes away (car) in the village which served us just as well (which we consumed in our...

Four of us shared a one-bedroom suite. Plenty of space, a big kitchen, and a balcony directly on the water. Easy walk to the fishing dock, and a pleasant walk to the other inns and restaurants. Very helpful managers and staff. Minor nit-picks: The room wifi was out during our visit, so we used their office; but we're assured they...

You come here for the views, the ocean, the beach and the rocks and if you wish to hike inland, forest. The hotel is in a perfect location, a child could throw a stone into the surfline from the balcony. The surf rages, crashes, and an otter makes its presence known passing through. We stayed in minisuite 4B, upstairs with...

Traveling solo, I was delighted to find the perfect place to stay on the "Lost Coast." In my opinion, this inn has the best views in Shelter Cove. From my balcony I had the breathtaking vista of the waves crashing in when it was windy. On a calm day, I could walk the beach right in front of the inn....

We stayed as a family of 4, and the Tides Inn was perfect. We stayed in room 3S, which was a suite with a separate bedroom and full kitchen. It's on the 2nd floor and on the corner. The views were stunning, you are right on the water, and there was a balcony to enjoy the vistas. The place was...

My husband surprised me with a three day trip to the coast to watch the winter storms! The Tides Inn was a spectacular place with front row seats to watch the ocean! We had a full suite, with full kitchen and fireplace. Because we went during the off season, many of the restaurants are closed, so the managers let my...

As described by others, the Tides Inn has a magnificent setting. On our last night, we had a fantastic sunset view from the balcony. We stayed in a 3rd floor mini king suite. The living and sleeping areas are quite nice - comfy bed, lots of room. The managers, Julie & Bill are very helpful with suggestions of places to...

Everything is within walking distance, easy access to the beach, helpful managers, and did I mention CLEAN? We loved having a full kitchen and falling asleep to the ocean tide. The location of this Inn is just fantastic. You can leave your window open at night and fall asleep to the sound of waves and have yourself the best night's sleep ever. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Tides Inn of Shelter Cove is Northern California's own little piece of paradise. We are on the ocean; every room with an unbelievably beautiful ocean view. You can sit outside, watch the whales go by and catch a glimpse of the moms and their babies. We have a family of sea otters right outside your door; sometimes they appear to be playing just for you. The tide pools below are choke-full of sea life. Everywhere you look, there is the framing of a beautiful photograph. Bring your camera, binoculars, and a good book and relax with the surf pounding on the beach below you. We have deluxe standard rooms and one bedroom suites, some with fully appointed kitchens. All of our beds are triple-sheeted with plenty of pillows. ... more   less
