The C.J. Cafe has three rooms for accommodation upstairs. We were impressed by the French Style accessories in the Cromwell room. The room looked onto the old St Swithuns church which was peaceful. Then we moved into Sackville, the de luxe room with a large bathroom. The furniture matched the old building and everything was spotless. This room is at...

This was a great find! Check-in was in CJ's cafe on the ground floor. Staff were friendly and welcoming and took us up to the room and showed us around. The room was beautiful and the bathroom luxurious. The building as the name suggests is very old and full of character. Have stayed in 'luxury' hotels whose rooms are not...

We arrived at 5.30 and the lady who showed us to our room was very offhand and more interested in making sure we signed a piece of paper that said we were liable for any breakages during our stay! We said about eating in the bistro underneath the b and b but she really tried to put us off saying...

Gothic House's staff welcomed us and made us feel at home, even though we were extremely late to arrive after our flight. We arrived just after midnight due to a rental car hiring ordeal that took 2 hours, but we were greeted warmly by the young man waiting for us. We were relieved to find such a comfortable bed, the...

I was led to this place via a wedding invitation. As my journey from London had been more difficult than expected I was running late, so called ahead to ask if they could book a cab for my eat imaged arrival time. There is no car park, so you need change for a public one a walk away. On arrival...

despite emailing to see if there was online parking we received no reply and ended up having to get up and move the car (mikes away) but that was ok because breakfast didn't start unto Ten! The room had a TV but it was hard to spot and didn't work anyway. The room smelt. The window opposite the bath room...

We had to spend a couple of nights in East Grinstead for family reasons and decided to give Gothic House a try as a change from the more mainstream hotel/lodge options, I'm glad we did it's different. They only have a few rooms but they do have character. We were in the Cromwell Room which overlooks the churchard to the...

My husband and I have just had a two night stay here. We are pleased we chose this hotel and would be more than happy to stay again. You check in at CJ's bar down stairs/next door which is connected and the barman helped us upstairs with our bags. There are only three rooms in this quaint hotel, all different,...

Arrived after a trip on the Bluebell Railway. Booking in was done through CJ's underneath- very efficiently by a young barman who offered ( although very busy) to take our cases upstairs to our room. The room far exceeded what we expected - spotless, comfy and simply beeeeautiful! We had a shower and relaxed for a while and then returned...

Second time I stayed here. Gave it a good review first time but will not be staying again. Nobody turned up to cook my breakfast and had to go to Costa for breakfast. I wrote a letter of complaint and had a letter back saying that as a "gesture of goodwill" they had enclosed a cheque for £10. I always...
