From the moment we arrived to be greeted by Julie and Steven with tea and delicious Bakewell Tarts in the lovely colourful garden, until we sadly said goodbye five days later, we felt really "at home" in this lovely old B&B which has been so skilfully renovated and modernised. The bedroom & bathroom were comfortable and spacious and we even...

You certainly made the best of your stay - there is so much to do in the Peak District. We hope you get the chance to return and take a tour in the old Ford - the only vintage car in the UK to be licensed for Private Hire.

We had a really enjoyable stay. Lovely breakfast and the room was fabulous. One thing I would say though and this is nothing to do with this first class B&B is we visited mon-wed and there is limited choice of eating out in the village.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of your stay - we really appreciate it. It's great to hear that you enjoyed your stay. It is possibly the finest compliment when people return to the Old Shoulder of Mutton - especially when you bring friends and family as well - and it was great to see you again. We always try to exceed our guests expectations and this is always a challenge for repeat bookings. So this year we have new garden furniture, bathrobes...

Steven and Julie offer the warmest welcome to their beautiful home, and they blew us away with their hospitality, wonderful breakfasts and thoughtful little extras. We stayed for three nights and made the most of the cycling and walking opportunities on the doorstep, as well as the many decent pubs nearby. We've travelled a lot and always research thoroughly where...

It's always good to read reviews from regular travellers who have a wide experience of the accommodation market - especially when it is so complimentary! Thank you so much. I do hope that we get the chance to demonstrate that we can also be consistent. You would be most welcome.

Steven and Julie have made the perfect touches to create the most relaxing and welcoming inn ever. Attention to little things, like programming room thermostats to cool down at night for better sleeping and warm up in the morning so as not to rise rise to a chilly bedroom and selections of tea and biscuits in the room. They are...

It's great to hear that our efforts and ideas are appreciated. The individual programmable room stats are a great way to control the heating bill with the benefit of comfort. They are particularly useful in the approaching colder weather where the heating doesn't just go off overnight but maintains a cooler temperature. Thanks for the recommendation too - we love...

Just home from a 4 day stay at the Old Shoulder of Mutton. Steve and Julie were the most welcoming and helpful hosts, and the B&B is a delight. The amount of thought this couple have put into their guests' requirements is very evident, and the level of decor and comfort was excellent. We stayed in the garden room, which...

A four night stay gives you so much more time to relax and enjoy the beautiful area - and the Old Shoulder of Mutton. The eggs benedict with smoked salmon (it should probably be called Eggs Royale) is my meal of choice - wonderful - especially with the eggs that have travelled all of 100 yards. There's so much more...
