I was looking for a hotel for a colleague of mine to stay in whilst he was on a 2 day course nearby. This place fitted the bill and my colleague would highly recommend this as a place to stay. My colleague also likes a photo of Joey Essex on his bedside and the hotel were happy to oblige this... More

My girlfriend and I stayed at the George Hotel as my present to her for her birthday. We were impressed with our room, and we had a bottle of prosecco in the room whilst chilling out in the afternoon. The restaurant's food was an excellent standard; each of the courses was delicious and they also brought us small pallet-cleansers between... More

Spent the weekend here for a wedding. It was delightful. Old world charm with all the comforts of today. The bathrooms have all been renovated, most importantly the plumbing, wonderful water pressure for showering. Those of you traveling in Europe from the USA will know this is not a given anywhere. Room price included breakfast which comprised of a buffet... More

Returning from a few days away with friends. We booked into the Waltzing Weasel B&B. The owner recomended the George Hotel which is just down the road in the village for a evening meal. All four of us enjoyed the meal and the selection of ales on offer, the staff were friendly and the place was warm. what more can... More

Stopped here for 2 nights with 2 young children (11 & 5) for a family wedding. The location is fantastic, take a stroll up to the church to find Little John's grave and admire the views. The staff were welcoming and friendly, food was delicious and the family room was large and comfortable. Really good shower!

I visited the George Hotel with my family for drinks whilst we were holidaying in the local area. The drinks were top notch and we really enjoyed the scones which were large and tasted very fresh. Freshly whipped cream and top quality fruit jam was of course a winner! The service was fantastic; staff were attentive yet friendly and not... More

Stopped by for lunch on our drive through the Peak District. In spite of the chilly breeze, the outside seating in the sun was welcome. Warm and friendly staff who took our orders promptly. We ordered baked pasta and soup both of which were excellent so were the appetizers that we had with the lunch. Being right on the main... More

After a great visit in 2015. 40 Walkers returned and we were not disappointed. James and all the team did everything possible to ensure we had a brilliant break. Love the newly refurbished rooms. Comfy beds, constant hot water and great food what more could a group of Walkers want.

I booked this hotel whilst travelling through the Peak District. It is ideally situated for touring the area. The hotel is very well run. I mentioned that I would arrive late when booking and they took the trouble to call me at 8.30 pm, to see if I would like a late meal kept for my arrival (which I did).... More

OK room in a traditional peak district building, but I just can't see that it's worth £180 / night. It's nothing special. It just happens to be in a village in the Peak district with little competition.
