Joanne and James were helpful and kind. I stayed here after y first day of walking The Pennine Way; the facilities were great, comfy bed, the breakfast was delicious and they were able to provide a packed lunch for the next day. James also gave myself and the other residents (other walkers) a lift to and from the local pub as isn't anywhere within a close walking distance. Would definitely recommend!

A group of friends, 7 people, on a cycling trip had a great stop here. Warm and spacious. They were flexible with the rooms eg meaning that 2 people sharing were put in a 4 bed room but only charged as 2.. We had the whole outbuildings to ourselves which included a good sized kitchen so we could socialise together over our meal. They have thought of your needs with a separate washroom where you could wash muddy stuff and a brilliant large drying cupboard where we could hang out wet clothing. They gave us details for a pizza delivery which came pretty quickly so we had a good evening. A lovely breakfast in the morning too. It's a lovely place, amazing views and lovely friendly hosts. All great!

After a long days walk around the reservoirs the house was a welcome sight, we were offered refreshment on arrival and given a great suggestion about the pub down the road which had some amazing food. The room was a wonderful rest from all the walking and the breakfast in the morning hit the spot to get back on the track, even offered a packed lunch if needed for the day ahead. Definitely recommend will be visiting again.

Great all round, very professional and friendly. We booked a tailor-made version of their Pennine Way package staying here on night one with a lift to Edale, then staying at the Snake Inn before walking onto The Old House the next day - 2 nicely manageable days of walking which didn't exhaust us. We are doing the PW in chunks, so we walked up to Wessenden Head on our day 3 and they collected us and took us back to The Old House where we had left our car (free) for the three days - nice and easy. They were so kind and flexible. Cant fault them. Nice room, shower, breakfast. They would have picked us up from Snake and taken us back to the Old House, but we wanted a bit of variety in our accommodation so chose to walk the extra mile or so to go via the Snake Inn. NB: There's no need to walk along the road for half a mile from the PW to The Old House, you can walk up the public footpath in the direction of the B&B and where the path cuts up to the road, carry on through the field, copse and field to the house - easier when leaving the B&B as it is obvious and they can point it out, perhaps a bit confusing when you arrive unless you know.
