We decided to have a trip out to the peak district, spur of the moment, with our two 8 month old dogs. It was such a nice crisp sunny day. We ended up at Castleton and the village looked very quaint so we parked up and decided to have an explore and see if we could get some lunch in...

Pate starter was frozen in center, Cajun chicken arrived with no Salsa, rubbish bagged salad and Aunt Betties frozen sweet potatoes French fries. The Burgers are rubbish ... get a better burger at McDonalds. Worst pub meal we've had in a long time ... Could do with getting a proper chef !!

Great pub, there was an Irish band playing at lunch time with great atmosphere, the fire was lit so really cosy. Hubby had burritos said they were really tasty and I had falafel burger too big a portion but both fab! Staff were so friendly couldn't have been better so all round don't hesitate pick this pub when in Castleton!

Came here for lunch half way around a walk in castleton. Great service and food on the day. I would recommend a window view to take in the scenery outside. Good experience and good size portions of food

Was there yesterday. Anywhere with a menu of Gin this good and with the line "if Gin is your religion, we are your church" has to be worth exploring. Great atmosphere, good menu, fantastic beer mats (where we all learned bout "furtling" - you have to find out for yourselves!) good selection of ales and all in all a great...

Twice i've been here now and it's a very friendly pub with a delightful beer garden in the sunshine with shade brollies if you want them. The food is fairly priced and tasty - but my wife's Gin and Tonic was superb - excellent Gin and good tonic drank in the sunny garden relaxing with the grandchildren!! It's so quiet...

Popped in here for breakfast when in the area. Really big portions and really reasonable prices. Great staff too who were friendly and welcoming. Nice and relaxed atmosphere and big car park opposite.

First of all the staff here are exceptionally friendly and efficient. We stayed 3 nights over the August Bank holiday weekend, in room 1. This room is over the pub and we were prewarned there would be some noise until about midnight, In practice of course we were not trying to sleep before then. The rooms are OK without being...

Also booked Peak Hotel as said on line said dog friendly. The hotel is very welcoming to dogs & muddy boots - no segregated areas! Room 3 has its own parking space across the...
