I actually feel quite bad writing this review. The owner is disabled and the upkeep of the property has obviously got too much for him and I know that he is trying to sell the cottage. I do however feel that the price we paid (£85) was far too expensive when you compare the prices and standards or other b&b's... More

The location of the cottage is in the centre of Castleton, which is ideal. But there is a very large BUT! This is the only thing we liked! Where do I start! Upon entry to the property it smelt of stale urine and pets with an attempt to heavily disguised it with frabreeze! After arriving at 5pm the room was... More

We turned up at fern cottage about 4.30pm to find we had to call to be let in. Even though it was late in the afternoon our room wasn't ready. Eventually after a bit of to-ing and fro-ing it was ready. At first everything seemed fine, but then the smell of 'shake and vac' maybe to hide underlying smell?? got... More

Stayed here for one night with my husband, one of the few places in Castleton that will let you book one night at a weekend, most insist on two. Room was clean and spacious and had everything we needed. Right in the heart of Castleton so exactly what we needed. Perfect for a night away.

After arriving I was given my room key by a polite lady, the cottage smells old but seemed to be clean and tidy. The room was nice but got very hot in the night and only had a small window to open. We had a front of the building bedroom and heard a lot of people walking past. The floors... More

Having read some of the previous reviews I was a bit hesitant about coming to stay here but how wrong could I have been! We were greeted by the lovely Joan who looks after the place and her gorgeous little, well behaved dog Tommy. The welcome couldn't have been warmer and the room was absolutely fine. We had the shared... More

My partner and I have just spent an overnight stay in this B&B; we were a little apprehensive having read some of the reviews on trip advisor. However our fears were unfounded, we had booked the largest room as it had an en-suite although the decor and furnishings were dated the room was very clean with tea and coffee making... More

Stayed recently for just one evening. On arrival, we were greeted by the very friendly June, she was so sweet and extremely friendly. Our room was clean and tidy, but was a little dated and could of done with a lick of paint. Bathroom was nice though. Could of done with having heating on , the room was very cold.... More

stayed here Saturday night the 29/11/2014, must admit not the best in castleton. But a friendly easy go place. Got what you need to be comfy. And bang in the centre of castleton. Not had a breakfast here yet, as there is a lovely shop opposite, that does some really nice sandwiches, and a little cheaper. Many pubs to go... More

The cottage is on main road and parking is right on the front and not really secure as its on the pavement. The owners are nice enough and the cottage is very quaint and close to all the shops, pubs and restaurants. The room was ample for 1 night and clean but the bed was old and creaky. The en... More
