Old style hotel with character, but run down, needs money spent on upgrading, dilapidated buildings at front, worn carpets dowdy dated decorations. Now the good bits, the staff are all very keen efficient and friendly and work hard, Andy the barman is a character and witty with it, shame he supports Reading!. The bar is well stocked and is reasonably...

The room was very old fashioned, peeling wall paper, old scruffy bathroom, with a corner bath and wooden toilet seat. The carpets are frayed and the bed was extremely uncomfortable. the room was also extremely warm as the heating was on, yet it was a warm day. Not very pleasant. We were there for a wedding which was lovely, however...

I have never stayed in such a grotty room in my life. An Ibis or Travelodge is far superior for half the price. Dirty walls, ancient ugly furniture, holes in the walls, picture hooks with no pictures, fraying curtains, chipped paintwork and the most feeble dribble of a shower that took ages to rinse the soap off. Breakfast was ok,...

Last minute booking rather than drive home for 2 hours at 1.00am. A little tired with urgent need to replace the bedroom carpets. Breakfast ok but extra cost for full English. Overall ok and very handy for the airport - 3.5 miles

A family members wedding was held here over the weekend so we booked in for the night. On a arrival we were greeted by a very friendly young lady who checked us in. On entering the room (24) we were disappointed at the interior and decorations. The carpets look like they had been down for years and non of the...

The staff were all very nice and helpful but the hotel it's self was in a bit of a state Our room was tatty, wallpaper hanging off walls, 2 thin tiny pillows, the strangest door that led to another guests room?.. All in all not worth £70 If it wasn't for the pleasant staff ide have rated it 1. Avoid!...

The second-worst hotel I've ever stayed in - Pro : v close where I needed to be. On arrival was given courtyard room (No. 30) - on entry greeted by a musty smell, carpet that seemingly had more stain than pattern, a bedspread with so many snags that it resembled a '70s shag-pile carpet and no full length mirror. Also,...

Special mention to the chef(s) who produced lovely evening meals and breakfasts which I cannot fault. Cons - with good staff and great food this hotel should be on s winner but sadly the actual accommodation...

Sadly the neglected accommodation and lack of investment lets the hotel down. Staff are very friendly, professional and welcoming and the food is also of a high quality with generous breakfasts being particularly good. I stayed for three nights, ate in the restaurant every night and had breakfast each morning so tried many different dishes, all of which were enjoyable....

We were quite shocked at the standard when we were shown to our courtyard room here, it was damp, dark and dismal. However, on asking to see another room, we realised that this is the general standard of this hotel. The room we settled for on the first floor of the main hotel, with a bit more light, was only...
