We were in Ashbourne for just 1 night and stayed at Compton House . Have no problem recommending it . Bed was lovely and comfortable with fresh clean bedding. Free parking .Helpful landlady. Breakfast was okay. It's location is a bonus as its only a couple of minutes walk into the shops and pubs.

A little noisy early morning traffic on front side of property. Good size room, bathroom a little awkward with 2 steps up. Property in need of a little bit of updating otherwise very adequate for our needs. Clean and friendly. Breakfast very enjoyable.

My wife and I stayed for two nights visiting the area. A traditional B&B but with all the nice touches that make your stay more homely. Friendly and chatty hosts, great food and a quaint, and very clean room & en-suite. Enjoyed our stay - thanks.

The B&B is well situated, close to town centre. It has off-street parking. We stayed in a back room which was quiet, not sure about front rooms. Tea and coffee in the rooms, good wi-fi, good shower. Excellent breakfast. The jam and marmalade (homemade) fantastic. Landlady helpful. Only thing to be aware of (if you're tall) is one or two... More

We read a few reviews of a lot of B & B's but this little place stood out from the rest so we booked and arrived about tea time, the landlady showed us straight to our room with en-suite, very clean and tidy, we had some tea at the local takeaway next to the B & B it was also... More

This is how we would like every guest house to be. Well positioned, well equipped, good quality beds, very clean, excellent breakfast and attentive owner. Travelling with an elderly mother, the availability of a nice ground floor double room was essential. To have all of this in the town centre, with wifi and secure parking, makes this guest house very... More

Ashbourne is very hilly but Compton House is on the level and right on the high street. Next door to Sainsbury's and opposite a petrol station, so you can stock up for trips. Also lots of takeaways and cafes in the street. Jane is very knowledgeable about the area and has a good supply of street maps. She also provides... More

My wife and I stayed in Compton House from 13 to 17 July this year. We had a lovely double room at the back of the property on the ground floor, as my wife has a slight walking difficulty. The full English breakfast was " full", with an added "Derbyshire oatcake", which I had never tasted before. Nothing was too... More

We stayed at the Compton House as a last minute decision to go to Derbyshire during the last bank holiday week end in May. The owners were extremely welcoming and the hotel was really comfortable. Breakfast was lovely - freshly cooked. Our only complaint was that our room was on the front of the hotel and with an extremely noisy... More
