Driving through the industrial suburbs of Ulverston, you emerge at the estuary where the views are breathtaking and the Bay Horse stands at the entrance to the long - abandoned Ulverston canal. The pub is a little dated and down at heel in parts and could do with some refurbishment. The rooms are well equipped and the ones overlooking the...

Love coming here ! Always go for the same room, try to avoid eating the same meals, but it is all good and the food is of a consistently high standard. Friendly staff, wonderful views and we even got a glimpse of the sun/moon during the eclipse - well about 40 seconds !

I stayed at the Bay Horse on business, Admittedly, the weather was good, but the views from your balcony, right next to the waters edge, were great to come back to, after a hard day. I ate there at night and the food is great value for money with some nice touches like the homemade filled bread at no extra...

Thoroughly enjoyed our first visit so we were really looking forward to this one. Just got back from a weekend Friday to Sunday break on a two night dinner, bed and breakfast offer. Cannot rate this high enough. Staff very friendly and helpful. Room with a view of the estuary was great. The food....... Brilliant, can't fault it. With the...

I recently spent nights on two separate occasions at this very friendly and welcoming inn. The location is stunning, the food and drink superb and the rooms are cosy and comfortable. The staff are keen to help and the whole experience is very enjoyable.

My wife, Caron, and I stayed overnight to celebrated her birthday on 27th December 2014 following a gorgeous meal from the main menu. The food was as good as we have always known it. We were also blessed with a beautiful sunrise the following morning. The view over the estuary is outstanding. We would recommend The Bay Horse to anyone.

We stayed here with our dog. The staff were exceptionally welcoming and helpful. The room had a magnificent view across the bay and the balcony meant we could take the dog in and out easily with no inconvenience to other guests. It is in a lovely area. Our meals were superb. The food was cooked to perfection, the menus were...

We stopped by and had a lovely lunch in the conservatory overlooking the estuary. Fabulous views distracted by a great steak and kidney pie and fishcakes for my partner. Service was friendly, prompt and the wine decent and inexpensive. Above all it was relaxing, unpretentious, welcomed and welcoming. Recommended.

We stayed here over Christmas 2014 whilst visiting family in the area. Good things first: the staff are lovely and generally attentive. The bar area is lovely and cosy (especially on a cold winters night) and, of course, the location is priceless. Unfortunately the rooms are incredibly dated. Single glazed patio-doors that would run with water unless they were open...
