We booked the Moorcock Inn for our Anniversary weekend away. Having spent the day at Aysgarth Falls and Hawes we arrived at the Moorcock at about 3.30pm. The landladies were very welcoming and showed us to our room. The room was smaller than I had pictured and had no door on the bathroom, just a string curtain. We unpacked a...

The Moorcock is in the middle of nowhere but delightfully so, it is well placed for walking and cycling the Yorkshire dales and has a view from every window. We stayed and found the rooms clean and comfortable, they are also dog friendly. The breakfast options are varied and the portions huge, this also applies to the evening menu. Chose...

We got to the door of the Moorcock at 5pm to find it locked, but a cyclist appeared and opened it. Once we got inside and met the owner, she was very welcoming and showed us straight to our room. We had two dogs with us and there was enough room for all of us. The Mallerstang beer in the...

Planned our 12 mile walk from Kirby Stephen to arrive at Moorcock 3.30. Arrived cold, hungry, longing for a pint and advertised welcome. Two people were sat outside drinking beer but the door was shut. Knocked on the door and received horrifyingly hostile response from landlady and the door slammed in our face. Won't be planning another walk in the...

Cycling from Settle to Carlisle this was the only place on the route near lunchtime so we had little choice. Didn't look very welcoming and front door was closed, but it was open for business. Land lady didn't welcome us and instead told us off for not closing the door and had zero coversation / interaction with us or the...

I made a reservation with this hotel for a trip and when i needed to cancel, as another member of my party had booked somewhere else, they charged me £50 for the pleasure, as the cancellation policy was unclear. However, i have sent about 4 emails now and not received a response at all. It would appear their attitude is...

We called in at this establishment for luch last week, it was almost half past two in the afternoon the place was empty. We were told we had 2 minuets to choose what we wanted and this we did, I wish we had turned around and left. We ordered sandwiches that came with chips which must have been refried a...

This is a pleasant inn with great character and, apart from the tele in the corner of the bar, it feels like you have travelled back in time. A few cobwebs in the window sills do not really detract from the general cleanliness of the bar area. The ploughman's lunch was ok but what really disappointed me was overhearing a...
