I was booked here on a business trip for 3 nights. On arrival i went to reception to get the key to what can only be described as a prison cell. The smell in the place was like wet dog and the communal fridge smelt of fish. The room was very basic not clean at all and there was mould and dead flys on the walls. It’s was that bad that me and 3 of my colleagues decided to find alternative accommodation that we paid for out of our own pockets. When I told the host she was very rude and refused the company a refund and said there was nothing wrong with it. I wouldn’t let my dog stay here and I don’t have one.... WOULD NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL!!!!!

This was our first stay here after admiring it and its log fires & bar from the nearby campsite many times! Firstly the setting is stunning and the welcome from the owners is fabulous. They obviously love where they live and have filled the bar area with photographs of their families enjoying the Lake District through the years. They also had great advice about walks and climbs. There are only 3 or 4 rooms so it is a really personal touch and our standard double was huge with a massive radiator that got all our walking gear dry in no time. Breakfast was lovely and we had evening meal which was delicious and you could taste the quality and freshness. Special mention to the Thai green curry, I have had plenty in Thailand and this was even tastier! We also paid extra for a packed lunch which was great value and delicious, the cake was lovely! Really recommend this hotel and hope to be back very soon.

Just returned home from our little getaway. Most amazing place with amazing views. Customer service was 10/10!! We stayed in room number 6, very clean. Breakfast every morning was included in our price and we had dinner at the hotel every night along with a couple of alcoholic drinks. Food was impeccable everyday with majority of it being home made. Owners were fantastic giving us tips and ideas on what to do whilst we were there! We will definitely be returning😊 the best getaway we have been on in the uk! X

Super friendly owners, great location for active people - walking from the door! Rooms spacious & comfortable but could do with a bit of a make-over. Cooked breakfast was good and set us up for a day of activity. Bottled beer from the micro-brewery down the road sold at the bar! Overall, really nice, but could still be better.
