We needed to stay overnight somewhere near Milnthorpe, and found the Wheatsheaf on the internet. It is a very old village pub which serves excellent evening meals, and has a number of comfortable bedrooms. We booked at the last minute and the only room available was a twin room with en-suite. There was a large shower cubicle in the en-suite,...

Returning home from a lovely three night stay at a cottage in Ambleside, we were in need of a good lunch. Travelling south on the A6 between Milnthorpe and Carnforth we started scanning for a good pub. As we were about to pass the turn for the village of Beetham we saw a sign for the Wheatsheaf Inn. Unfortunately, we...

We were recommended this restaurant and were so pleased to discover a lovely village and a charming place to eat with tasteful furnishings. There is a large car park opposite. The menu was extensive but we went for the £7.95 two course menu and had the choice of 4 main courses and four puddings. My husband chose well with the...

The hotel is situated in a very quite village good for walkers. The food served is excellent and a good choice is served each night. The sleep quality and rooms are also very good and clean with a very good car park over the road

After driving through dense fog from Lancaster we decided to have a break and pulled into Beetham to have lunch at The Wheatsheaf, a place we had been to several times before. I have strong memories of it from the time I was a student in the 70;s. We used to do some fieldwork on the nearby Fairy Steps. The...

Two of us popped in for lunch yesterday and had a great meal. Staff were very friendly and food came relatively quickly. Couldn't fault it. My husband, as always, wanted a slight amendment to his menu choice - which they sorted willingly. The only downside was a group on a table next to us who had a young child with...

Went here with colleagues from work for a Christmas lunch. We were sat upstairs as there was 15 of us. Lovely friendly service and meal was served quickly considering they hadn't asked us to pre-order. Food was excellent value for money - £7.95 for two course. Would definitely go for lunch deal again.

Our group of thirty friends came here for a Christmas lunch today and enjoyed a great meal. The various choices were all served to everyone's satisfaction and with friendly helpful service. We had a room upstairs to ourselves and nicely decorated for Christmas. I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone in the future

We awoke Sunday morning to a golden frosty morning _ so decided to treat ourselves to lunch out _ and in todays austerity climate it is a treat,!!! but also a dilemma, we have paid in the past between eight pound and thirteen, with a mix of satisfaction and disappointment _ (The wheatsheaf we chose for its pleasant village location)...
