We went to the mortal man inn expecting a cosy well maintained country pub but were very disappointed. Our room was tired and dated but a reasonable size with a comfy bed. Unfortunately the bathroom was very small, freezing cold and poorly maintaned (nothing like the pictures we had seen on the internet). The continental breakfast was acceptable but basic....

Warm welcome. Lovely spacious room. Nice surroundings. Good location. Fantastic views down the valley. Good, traditional bar serving good choice of beers, cider and typical pub fare. All staff very friendly. Plus dog friendly 👍🏼

Not been here since NYE 2015. Came back with friends and the welcome and the food is still superb. On a rainy night, great to see a traditional log fire burning. Beer is superb, and the food is very good. Staff are very attentive and I would recommend this place to anyone.

While stopping for a lunch break during a walk over Wansfell from Ambleside on a beautiful sunny spring day on the 8th March, we sat in the beer garden and ordered sandwiches which came sides of salad leaves and coleslaw. Having eaten the lovely sandwich, I was tucking in the to rest of the salad, but found that I was...

Just a one night stay with family passing through the Lake District on-route to Manchester. Very helpful staff had us in our rooms very early, as we had a business visit elsewhere and didn't want our luggage with us. Also wanted our family to have a night at a traditional pub, to which we had an excellent meal and a...

Visited here while staying in cottage nearby. Nice old pub with big extension at back giving stunning views from conservatory. Nice food reasonably priced, good friendly service. Welcoming pub to sit in after lunch and chat with the locals and the fell walkers.

We were staying in the village so decided to call in for a couple of drinks. We found the outside of the building to be dirty, overflowing bins, rubbish on the ground and generally uncared for. Not a great start. The bar area is small and traditional but we were disappointed at the rather limited choice of beers as my...

After a soggy walk, completing the kentmere round in cold, wet and windy conditions, my prayers were answered when we arrived at this warm and cosy pub. Our room was just right - I could really feel the underfloor heating in the bathroom and I began to recover in the gorgeous hot bath. We stayed for 2 nights with friends...

This was a much looked forward to weekend catching up with old friends. The highlight of this place is the girls who work here! They are lovely, really friendly and so helpful, however the male members of staff seem to be very indifferent to the fact that you are a paying guest in this establishment. The decor is a bit...
