This was our fourth visit to oldwater view and the welcome , service and quality of accomodation were as excellent as ever. Ian is incredibly knowledgable about the C2C and with the next day to Shap being a long haul ( especially from kidsty pike) can offer great advice on alternative options. The room was very comfortable and the breakfast... More

This is a lovely old B&B, situated along a beautiful river. Our spacious, comfortable room overlooked the river. We were on a hiking trip across the north of England and accidentally left a hiking pole here. We are grateful to the proprietor, Ian, for arranging to have the pole promptly delivered to our next stop. In evaluating our B&B rooms... More

Ian was a gracious host at the Old Water View. We arrived totally soaked and were immediately able to dry all our gear in a well equipped drying room right inside the front door. Ian had a well stocked supply of everything walkers could need and ran an honesty system on payment. Loved our quiet room and yummy breakfast.

Located just next to the river, it's a charming spot in Patterdale. It is really good spot if you are walking through the Lakes District. The Honesty Bar system also creates a very friendly and cosy environment, it almost feels like home.

Stayed last week when on the C2C. Excellent drying facilities which we needed as the weather was very wet. A warm welcome from Ian and Joyce. Good bar facilities, good rooms and interesting history as one of AW's stopping places. Good breakfast and packed lunch and an evening meal available at local pub. Ian very knowledgeable about the C2C.

This is the second time I have stayed at the hotel and on both occasions the welcome has been fantastic. Both times we arrived ripping wet from the walk but Ian had all the wet clothes and boots straight into his drying room and everything was dry the next morning. The bar was extremely welcome! Ian's knowledge and advice on... More

B&B right on the C2C route out of Patterdale. Set up for walkers with a drying room for wet clothes. Boots welcome. Ian and Joyce have walked the trail several times and both are storehouses of knowledge. Ensuite rooms, proper breakfast, lunch items and more available at the honor store downstairs. Dinner available at the nearby While Lion.

Stopped here 4 years ago when Ian was serving terrific food and although he has had to temporarily stop this due to an accident overseas it didn't detract from the visit. The outside has some lovely seating areas to view the wildlife on the river and the self service bar including 3 real ales is fantastic with Ian always around... More

stayed here during our recent coast to coast walk. The owner Ian was very friendly and helpful. Very much geared to walkers, lots of useful advice, a proper drying room for all the wet gear. An honesty bar was much appreciated at the end of a day's walking.

We recently stayed her for two nights while we were on the coast to coast walk. Patterdale was a great place to take a rest day from walking, and the accommodation was excellent. The rooms were comfortable and extremely clean, the bar downstairs was a welcome addition, and the outdoor area down by the river was wonderful. Ian was extremely... More
