After a really difficult day walking from Grasmere in dreadful wet weather, we limped into Patterdale and fell in the front door of the Old Water View Inn. Joyce was the most delightful host and was so apologetic that there was a power cut. We didn't care, we were out of the weather. The power was restored eventually, and remained...

Perfect location for accessing Striding Edge routes, breakfast choices were excellent, accommodation facilities with an 'honesty' bar and other thoughtful touches were very welcome and a couple of minutes walk to the local pub

A late booking on our part for New Year, arriving New Years Eve and leaving on the 3rd January. We had an excellent room upstairs, plenty of space and facilities. We also had a great skylight view of the stars during the night and this turned into a tremendous vision of Place Fell with snow on in the mornings. Breakfasts...

Fantastic breakfast with lots of choice. Loved the honesty bar and plenty of things in the room/bathroom e.g toiletries and refreshments. Friendly staff and comfortable room. Great place to stay and easy to get to places nearby.

My Wife and I stayed here a week ago and were very impressed with this Bed and Breakfast. Ian was a very nice gentleman and we thank him for his hospitality. Upon his advice we visited Aira Force and very much enjoyed the scenery, although we didn't make it all the way round because my Wife didn't feel very well,...

Good for walkers. Joyce has a great drying room and muddy boots and kit are no problem. Comfortable room with an old fashioned bathtub to soak weary feet. Breakfast comes quickly and was all very tasty. Good coffee. Lots of homemade preserves to try on your toast, and they're for sale at £3.75 a jar. It'll set you up for...

We stayed here in October as we were attending the Hodgson Brothers Mountain Relay Fellrace. The hotel is within easy reach of the village (2 minutes walk) with its shops and pubs. The room was tastefully decorated, bed comfortable, and the "honesty" bar downstairs in the dining room where you pay for what you drink when you check out at...

This place was a great surprise, we were received by Joyce, she is fantastic. We slept in a room with 2 beds and one bathroom, the room has a nice size and pretty decoration. The breakfast is cooked at the moment and is English breakfast plus some yogurts and cereal, the food is very nice Thanks for everything
