Good for walkers. Joyce has a great drying room and muddy boots and kit are no problem. Comfortable room with an old fashioned bathtub to soak weary feet. Breakfast comes quickly and was all very tasty. Good coffee. Lots of homemade preserves to try on your toast, and they're for sale at £3.75 a jar. It'll set you up for... More

We stayed here in October as we were attending the Hodgson Brothers Mountain Relay Fellrace. The hotel is within easy reach of the village (2 minutes walk) with its shops and pubs. The room was tastefully decorated, bed comfortable, and the "honesty" bar downstairs in the dining room where you pay for what you drink when you check out at... More

This place was a great surprise, we were received by Joyce, she is fantastic. We slept in a room with 2 beds and one bathroom, the room has a nice size and pretty decoration. The breakfast is cooked at the moment and is English breakfast plus some yogurts and cereal, the food is very nice Thanks for everything

We stayed here 3 nights and spent more time here than the average visitor. Ian, the owner was very personable, knowledgeable and helpful. For folks doing the Coast to Coast walk he has huge maps & much personal experience of the route. He is a wealth of information about the area & the history of the hotel. Each room has... More

Excellent location on the route of coast to coast. Ian could not be more helpful, his knowledge of the walk having completed by himself and his young daughter is great. Well stocked bar and other items including everything you need for pack ups and blisters all done with an honesty box. Breakfast excellent, lovely smoked salmon and fresh fruit, would... More

Well established b&b for Coast to Coast walkers with all the atmosphere that you might expect. Clean and comfortable en-suite room with a good view of the ascent we would be making the next morning. Used to have a restaurant and a bar but is now just doing b&b. Although there is an honesty bar there. Very good cooked breakfast... More

Great location just close to the White Horse (recommended). Pleasant B&B with nice extra touches such as the honesty bar. Joyce could not have been more helpful in helping us plan the next day walking route on the C2C. Good breakfast. Note. The B&B is closed this season for evening food. AW stayed here and Julia Bradbury bought shortbread in... More

We walked into Patterdale through the grounds of the Patterdale Hotel and then it's a fair walk to the hotel along the main road in Patterdale. We were advised (by our courier company Coast2Coast Packhorse) that dinner was available at the local pub, The White Lion (more of which later!!) so were a bit concerned when we arrived quite late...
