We camped here at the ends of the summer holiday so it wasn't too busy. The kids would have been happy to just spend all day clambering over the grassy hills/climbing rocks, and playing in the pond and adventure playground. It was perfect for our nearly 7 year old, though I think our 4 year old will enjoy it more... More

This campsite is in a most beautiful place and is so nice to visit its heaven - there are lovely places around that you can pitch and it once got voted as one of the top 20 places to camp in the UK - the lovely steam railway runs by all day and eskdale is a beautiful place - but... More

I'll begin with the positives. There are some, not least the aspect with a stream and narrow gauge steam railway on the periphery, all set in lovely Eskdale. Additionally, some of the camp workers were very pleasant and very helpful. Now for the negatives. Has this campsite been inundated with unruly people from sink housing estates, hell-bent on destroying everything... More

Stayed 1 night so can't really give a full on review, but the ppl I met on arrival in reception were pleasant enough. I was shown the tent camping area by a decent bloke and told to pick any fire pit and pitch my tent (and not in any perticular direction) there. Would have given a better rating if i`d... More

This site will make you say “wow!”, but not always for positive reasons. Our stay left contradictory memories of what could easily have been a 5 star experience. We arrived on a beautiful, hot summer afternoon (yes, really!) and were quickly escorted to our pitch. We had asked to be located next to a relative who had arrived earlier and... More

Had we not paid a non refundable deposit with an additional 'booking fee??!' we would have left before being interrogated for our details then instructed where exactly to pitch our tent facing in a specified direction. A highly regimented unfriendly approach by the majority of the wardens (a couple of them were lovely though). When you hear the frequent purr... More

Whilst the campsite itself is undoubtedly set in a very picturesque valley the staff are unfriendly and unhelpful and are more concerned about charging you for everything rather than helping you have a good time. The price list at the reception hut lists a price for everything from dogs to cars but omits the price of a gazebo. We assumed... More

This is the best campsite for children I have ever been to. The setting is beautiful and the children could play in a lovely natural setting instead of being surrounded by plastic toys and slides for a change.

We have been coming to Fisherground every year for over a dozen years now and the site is in the best position in Eskdale with beautiful views, easy access to the L'al Ratty railway and a pub within easy walking distance. The facilities are fine and generally kept clean although you do need 50ps or the showers.

Fisherground delivers again, the campsite was busy but not overcrowded and as usual the pond was brilliant for the kids. As always the fire pits were a triumph with the wood sales being great again, and the walking, railway and pubs around being a delight. We'll be back in August 2017
