Had a lovely little nights stay here, the staff couldn’t do any more for us! The rooms were lovely. Clean & cozy! Even an electric heater in there too keep you warm! We had our evening meal in there (soup of the day) potato and leek which was to die for my partner had the prawns & said they were the nicest he’s ever had!! And we had the hunters chicken burger and steak for our mains which were both delicious! I honestly couldn’t recommend this place anymore! Scafel pike mountain and wasdale head is about an 18 min drive away! Which is lovely for a walk around even in the cold weather!! Thank you again to all the staff for a lovely stay, nothing was too much to ask of them. I would definitely stay here again, or even if I don’t stay I would definitely dine here food is amazing! Cheap cozy and cheerful! 💜

Girlfriend and I stayed here for a base to explore the local area. For this it is perfect as it has a lot of beautiful scenery right on its doorstep. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted and shown to our room, which was very clean. So clean in fact that the strong smell of bleach was quite overpowering. Reassuring perhaps but it did make your eyes itch after a while. The room we stayed in was dated and in need of refurbishment. Details such as a damaged shower hose, marked roller blind and tired furniture are all small but nevertheless disappointing. It wasn’t representative of other rooms shown on here which seem to have been recently refurbished. We had a comfortable stay overall. The breakfast was great and you couldn’t fault the service.

We stayed in a nearby cottage for a week and visited the Bower House Inn several times. On each occasion we were looked after brilliantly by the Manager and staff. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the food is excellent. Between us we tried most of the menu over the course of our stay and it was all delicious. The surroundings are pretty breathtaking, too! I would recommend this place without hesitation.

Fantastic meal for a family. My kids aged ten and six said that they preferred it to McDonald’s ! Food was beautiful and not usual same old pub grub. This was home made to unique recipes. I would recommend the vegetarian two bean chilli. Thai Fish cakes two were to die for. Lovely setting and service. Highly recommended

Four of us went for an evening meal. I had the Moroccan Lamb Pie with vegetable tagine and mint yogurt. Nice to see something different on a pub menu. Tastiest meal I have had out for a while. Everyone was happy with their mains and desserts. A selection of four local beers were on offer. I had the Hawkshead Pale - very nice. All in all a great experience.
