Travellers' Choice
Situated at the foot of Muncaster Fell amidst five and a half acres of natural fellside and gardens, Forest How enjoys spectacular views across the Eskdale valley. Set at the end of a quiet lane that crosses the famous Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, you can leave the car and walk straight from the house or take the steam train up the valley to Boot or down to the coast at Ravenglass. For the outdoor enthusiast, the area is a haven for walkers, cyclists and nature lovers. If you head out for the hills and are unfortunate enough to get caught in a shower, we have a spacious drying room so that all your gear will be dry and ready for the next day’s adventures. We also have secure cycle storage. Frequent visitors to the gardens and surrounding fields include roe deer and red squirrels and you may spot a barn owl at dusk, circling the field for food.

With Deb and Pete away on holiday, family members Jackie and Philip were running the guest house. The expected high standards were maintained on each day of my visit, which was slightly shortened by the Covid-19 lockdown. Despite the very wet and windy weather, the guest house provided a warm and welcoming refuge when I was not outside monitoring the red squirrels. Great news, I saw twelve different squirrels during my visit!

We only stayed at Forest How for the weekend but would live to have stayed longer. Our hosts did an excellent job in spite of all the Covid regulations. Very comfortable room with a lovely view. We enjoyed watching the red squirrels and the deer. Breakfast was scrumptious. We would recommend ForestHow

This was my second Visit to this lovely Guest house, Can't wait for my Third..Hopefully next year!! Greeted by Deb with a lovely warm Welcome, home from Home, Spotlessly clean cosy and Comfortable Room, with fresh home made Biscuits provided..including Gluten Free. Nothing is too much Trouble, and Deb provides a really superb fresh cooked breakfast. The house is tucked away, by a wood, with a fabulous garden, and surroundings, with a mini Steam railway at the bottom of the Garden. MY Favourite part of the stay there is the Red Squirrels, running free around the grounds, a fabulous treat to watch them, plus the birds whilst having breakfast!!..One night just isnt enough!!

Everything you could want from a B&B - cosy, comfortable room/bed, delicious breakfast and friendly, helpful hosts. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. In addition, Forest How is in a beautiful rural setting, with views of the surrounding fells and a garden full of wildlife (including red squirrels).
