After a long wait of over an hour we eventually got served with soup and Welsh rarebit ,one wonders where the chef had been as the premises were not over busy, what a pity as the pub had quite a nice atmosphere but a little gloomy. Not recommended plenty more eating places nearby .

Thank you for your reply, I am sorry you had to wait for so long for your food on your recent visit and waiting for over an hour for your bowl of soup. This is totally unacceptable and I can offer no reason as to why you had to wait for so long. had you made me aware of this...

Called in here whilst waiting for our accommodation to be ready, had a drink and ordered from the lunch menu. Very nice welcoming traditional pub and the food was very very good. Only wished we had stayed longer than a weekend to have chance to have revisited!

What a beautifully festive pre - Christmas get away spot. If you're looking for a quaint typically English village Cartmel is the Place. It is the home of Sticky Toffee Pudding (best one I've ever tried to date) and is Located just a 30minute drive away from the famous Windermere in the Lakes. This little village is just far enough...

Lovely hotel with great friendly staff set in a beautiful village, comfortable room with nice decor and was a bonus to have a small balcony. Only one minor negative point was the bath towels are very small.

The log fires in the Restaurant, cosy atmosphere, good wine list, brilliant staff are all you need. Unfortunately the whole place needs a make-over. As there isn't a guest lounge we read the paper in the bedroom which was alright but not very comfortable. New Year's Eve meal was fine although the choices were limited. Richard is the reason we...

As a regular visitor to Cartmel during the summer we have stayed at The Cavendish several times, and have never been disappointed. Richard and his team give a warm welcome, and their customer service is excellent. Foodies will love the dining experience, great food and great value for money, with a good wine list to indulge! Christmas in Cartmel is magical,...

Stayed here on a Living Social 2 night break. Lovely, atmospheric pub and great food. However, we were let down on our room. The room, Room 1, was no more than 2*. All room amenities were very poor. Only one bedside light, no dressing table, the only mirror was on the wardrobe with no electrical socket within reach if you...

A group of us went to The Cavendish today for lunch and is was fabulous. We had various meals off the main menu, the lamb dish was delicious and I had a steak and ale pie which was probably the best I have ever had in a pub. This was all accompanied by a really lovely selection of vegetables. Cartmel...
