Apparently, this is under new management; we never went there before it changed hands so can only comment on what it is like now. We are staying in a holiday cottage and went there for a drink and a meal. The new owner (Jonathan) is welcoming and helpful and the pub itself is warm and characterful, with an open log...

We were warmlywelcomed by the barmaid into a freezing cold pub that gave absolutely no incentive to stay. The place has potential but it is not being exploited. No one we saw stayed for more than one drink - a real shame

We were staying at a nearby caravan site and decided to visit the Engine Inn for a meal on our last night. Wish we had found it earlier on in our holidays! First impressions – I was dubious, I must admit. However, the staff were friendly and the menu extensive. Pages of food plus a specials board. My two year...

I arrived early afternoon to a pleasant reception. I had prebooked a single room and was shown to an immaculately clean room with double bed and spotless en suite. Usual hot drinks plus biscuits and TV. I had a very filling evening meal and went out with friends returning late after closing time and using my back door key provided....

We went to the engine 6years ago and the food was fantastic but when we went last week they must of changed hands because the food was average. The place smelt of wet dogs and toilets were below per. We did not return as we were so disappointed and let down from what was a great pub when we last...

Food was lovely , not to long to wait , good portions and the staff were very friendly and helpful . Car parking awful if your disabled be prepared for a walk across the road as there is limited parking . The pub seems tired in appearance it lacks curb appeal but food was worth a visit

We visited with friends to celebrate my birthday. Absolutely appalling rooms, dirty toilets, bedcovers seen better days and pillows were without any substance. Bottle tops still on the floor. Our room also mentioned in earlier review here and was the worst of the two, although the other one had paper falling from the walls, dirty window sills and toilets. We...
