We visited this establishment for the 3rd year running - it meets our needs perfectly for a great location near to Wastwater. You can walk there from the pub - Stuart the owner lent me a map and told me what to look out for/advised on the route etc. All the staff are cheery/ friendly and nothing is too much...

We popped in for lunch on Sunday and sat in a garden with dogs as the weather was amazing. Friendly service, food was served quickly and was very good! Lovely calamari, great halloumi salad with beetroot and olives - decent portions and very tasty. Will be back!

The room is cosy. Walking from the inn is just amazing.the staff are very helpful. It's a great place to take your dog. The only thing that I can say that I was unhappy about is at breakfast time the cup's were sometimes dirty. The breakfasts them self are lovely.

We stayed at The Boot Inn en route back down from Scotland to home. The pub itself is set in gorgeous countryside and is just perfect for walkers. The room we had was huge! Very comfortable bed indeed. Certainly made it difficult to get up in the morning! breakfast was served in the conservatory part of the pub, this was...

Visited here for lunch after our trip on La'al Ratty. Met by a very friendly barmaid who was pleasant and helpful. Sat outside in the beer garden as it was a lovely sunny day. Real ale available and we sampled two great beers. There was a good choice of food on the menu and we opted for a hot steak...

I was made very welcome and the room was nice and comfortable. The food in the restaurant was also excellent with a good choice of menus. The area is also outstanding and there are many good walks to be had. There is a little railway not far from the pub which well worth the journey. All in all a lovely...

My husband and I just stayed here with our dog. We had such a nice stay. Everyone who works at the Boot Inn is really friendly and makes you feel so welcome. Breaksfast was great, good choice and well cooked. If you are adding dinner you won't disappointed. They also have no issues with gluten free diners. Room was clean...

What's an excellent family lunch we had in this pub. Can be a little hard to find, but well worth it when you do. It's in the hamlet of Boot in the Eskdale valley. The food is all prepared fresh and the Sunday roast lunch was to do for. It was the best roast beef and gravy I've had in...

A group of us were staying in one of the cottages in Eskdale for a friends birthday. When we got there we realised we hadn't ordered anything that was vegetarian friendly on our shopping list for the weekend. We told Tom all about it and he sorted us out with vegetarian kebabs for our BBQ! Drinks were reasonably priced, was...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Boot Inn nestles in the tiny hamlet of Boot, deep in the heart of the Eskdale Valley. Within easy walking distance of The English Lake Districts largest and most majestic fells, yet only 7 miles from the sea. We provide first class food, drink and accommodation with nine letting bedrooms, bar, conservatory and snug areas, we also have ample car parking and a large beer garden. The inn itself has been catering for the hungry and thirsty travellers since the 17th century, offering a selection of traditionally kept cask ales, fine wines, sprits, continental beers, soft drinks and excellent food. At the Boot Inn we endeavour to source as many of our ingredients and most of our produce locally including the almost legendary cumberland sausages. Everybody is welcome included our four legged friends. With real log fires for those chilly autumn, winter or even summer days, a warm welcome is always guaranteed. The valley provides a wealth of opportunity for outdoor activity with Scafell, Great Gable, Harter Fell, Bowfelll, Crinkle Crags and many others all within walking distance without having to cross a single road! Cyclists can pitt themselves against the Hardknott and Wrynose passes, the steepest section of road in England leading to the Duddon Valley and Langdale. For those of a more spiritual and historical interest there is to be found the remains of a Roman Fort in the upper reaches of the valley and the beautiful 14th century church of St Catherines only a short stroll away. Slightly further afield attractions such as Muncaster Castle and Eskdale Golf Course are close by. ... more   less
