Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My wife and I have just spent a night in this beautifully decorated and well positioned accommodation and wish we stayed longer.
The hosts Pat and Jimmy provided us with a very warm welcome and they are 2 of the nicest people you will ever meet.It is so quiet and peaceful with beautiful country views from the bedroom and bathroom, extremely comfortable bed and did I mention how quiet and serene it was ! A great expansive living room to relax and unwind in also.
A delicious hearty home cooked breakfast was served along with cereal, yogurt, juice and coffee.
A wonderful stay, highly recommended.
Thanks very much for your kind hospitality Pat and Jimmy.
Kind Regards
Mark and Kerry

We needed somewhere close to jubilee House, the wonderful fireman's charity centre as we took our father to take a rest break. As it was a Sunday night we did not expect to find such a gem open, especially for just 1 night. We arrived at 16.30 to a warm welcome and a warm cosy room that was perfect for the night. Comfortable bed and as good as on suite bathroom, plenty of tea and coffee, TV and excellent views from the large windows. Breakfast was more than enough and a chance to talk to our hosts who are charming people. Will stay again for sure and recommend it.

If you stay here, you need to be aware that there is not enough hot water to sustain a long shower and you will be told off if you spend to long using up the hot water. The owner explained that he wasn't able to tell every guest that they should be conservative with the water. My husband had to have a cold shower which put me in the dog house (obviously).
However, it is a pretty and clean place and the breakfast was very good. The couple offered to drive us to the pub which was very kind of them. Chocolate was provided in the bedrooms.
If you are doing the Coast-to-Coast/Land's End to John O'Groats (as we were) expect to keep your shower short.

This was a one night stay. The hosts were very amenable. We stayed in the ground floor twin room, comfy beds but the room could have done with a spring clean,(dust and cobwebs). Breakfast was served in the cold conservatory rapidly, there were hairs in the tea cups and sugar bowl, Overall we think the room was over priced at £70. It is quite a difficult place to find, don't follow your sat nav.

We made a last minute booking via Laterooms to stay at Keeper's Cottage, Penrith, on Saturday night (24.02.18). As part of the booking I supplied my mobile number and my email address. The booking details were emailed through that evening.

We were fell running in the Lake District during the Saturday afternoon, so we were looking forward to a shower and bed. It was very disappointing to find the door of Keeper's Cottage unanswered when we arrived. Given that I had supplied my mobile number, I assumed that, if there were any issues, the owners would contact using the mobile number. They did not. I checked my emails on my phone while standing outside the unanswered door to find a poorly written email pasted as received below:

"Hello dr Russell. I am sorry the room is unavailable tonight as we are away.it should have been cancelled on the website. But unfortunately it obviously wasent.many apologies."

It was quite frustrating to read such an email, that the owner clearly did not even bother to proof read, while standing outside the property, tired from a day running in the hills. Despite the content of the email, I do not know whether this was Laterooms' fault, or the fault of the owner who perhaps did not sort out the booking issue properly prior to going away, but it was poor service either way.

Stayed here with our dog for 3 nights and had a thoroughly restful time. We were in the twin room downstairs which was spotless with extremely comfortable beds. The cottage is in a lovely quite spot with views over the fields. A walk through the cornfield and woods will take you through to Brougham Hall and Eamont Bridge where the dog friendly Beehive pub does excellent food (and dog beer!) A delicious cooked breakfast is served in the huge and quirky conservatory where I could have sat all day watching the birds and admiring the views across the fields. Pat and Jimmy made us very welcome.

My daughter and I stayed here for just an overnight stay. I thought it was delightful, very clean and the beds were immaculate and extremely comfy. It is very quirky and breakfast which was very good is served in a huge conservatory with lovely views. The Sat nav took us to the wrong place but if you follow the written directions it is not hard to find. The owners were charming. If you are just having a short break in this beautiful part of the country it is a lovely place to stay.

I've stayed here a number of times now and get a warm welcome every visit. The rooms are so comfortable, very homely and extremely clean. The hosts have a lovely sense of humour and provide much entertainment over breakfast - which was delicious, even the veggie option! I would highly recommend staying here and will certainly be returning.

Room Tip: All rooms are ensuite but my personal favourite is the upstairs room away with the larger bathroom.

We arrived late but received a lovely welcome, the room was pretty, Laura Ashley décor. There was plenty of hot water so the problem experienced by the previous reviewer must have been fixed. The location was beautiful. Breakfast was very good and served in the conservatory.
