We stayed in Koox Matan Ka'an for 3 nights. Clean, comfortable, good breaky (you pay), friendly staff, great location (20 sec. walk to the Promanade), lovely interior, pool inside the hotel and open to the sky, not covered. There are many options of rooms, 2 beds, 3 beds, king, queen, double, so be specific when you book. If you get...

We stayed at this hotel for 12 days and found it very convenient to the main area, just one block back from the malecon and beach. Stores and restaurants were close by, and the hotel serves breakfast at reasonable prices if you wish to eat onsite. The room we were in was spacious and was kept very clean. The grounds...

We were there for two nights. Staff didnt speak english at first. Then the boss came and helped out. He was very friendly. Room very clean and big. The Wifi was not aviable all the time - and when it was aviable it was very slow. Only 1 minute to the beach.

This is a lovely hotel one block off the beach. The architecture is really interesting and service was excellent. Be sure to view your room before final check-in. Some of the rooms are very small, while others are quite spacious. Great breakfast as well.

The hotel alone is a tourist destination if you are interested in Mexico culture & history. The builder-owners constructed & decorated this hotel with historical and cultural aspects in mind. (there is even a book available on site that tells the story). Impeccably maintained with cleanliness & comfort for travelers is apparent. Within the hotel there is a wonderful restaurant,...

I stayed here with my Mexican wife for 3 nights in December. This traditional style hotel is in a good location in town close to the beach and convenient for restaurants. The rooms are basic but large clean and comfortable. Overall a great value place to stay with lots of character and would definitely stay here again if we return...

We spent 5 comfortable nights here on our third visit to Mahahual. The room was clean and solid, large, nicely decorated, the bed very comfortable, the A/C worked, and the water was hot and plentiful in the shower. If you want a peaceful swim the hotel is wrapped around a freeform swimming pool in the central courtyard (which is partially...

This hotel was short walking distance to the restaurants and beach. The restaurants are very good…especially taken in consideration of the small town. This hotel has large rooms but is very dated. It has typical rustic decor and construction. I found it to be slightly uncomfortable. It was clean but did not feel like it due to its age and...

For me is the best place in Mahahual, with a great decoration, every room is different and magic, a few steps from the sea, the administrator of Matan Ka'an is at the same time Chef, he is a really nice guy and always worries that everything goes well. You will find a nice life quote the first time you enter...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
In the old Mayan language Matan Ka`an means "gift from the sky" and for all of us that we have worked with sacrifice and passion, it was really true. Matan Ka`an Hotel is located in the heart of Mahahual, a small fisherman village which can be a perfect start point to visit the entire surrounding area, rich of unspoiled natural beauties as the bank of Chinchorro, the only Mexican Caribbean atoll, or the biosphere of Sian Ka'an. ... more   less
