We spent a week in Patzcuaro with our two teen daughters in July 2013. We drove from San Miguel de Allende to Patzcuaro and the only problems we encountered in Mexico was our fuel pump going out. We live in Texas so driving to Mexico is very doable for us. I would strongly suggest that you don't drive at night....

So, we ignored the warnings and went to Patzcuaro, which we loved. Felt not an ounce of danger there. Saw no military etc. San Antonio is staffed by a gracious family. Off street parking was 30 pesos a day. Our room had a fireplace in which fresh logs were placed daily. Fresh coffee and rolls every day in the main...

We stayed here on a wonderful vacation over holy week. What a find! The hotel is small, with the room arranged around a beautiful courtyard full of flowers. The rooms were large with simple yet lovely decorations (fresh flowers, for example). Though we didn't use the fireplace, it added a nice touch. The room was a little chilly in the...

This might be my favorite hotel in Mexico. It is not fancy, but it's very attrative and clean, great service. It's very authentic and simpy lovely. The owners are very friendly. Breakfast can be rolls and coffee but sometimes they cook a big Mexican breakfast.

As is my norm, I sent an email requesting reservations for four nights and our favorite room and received a very prompt response. Our room was in its normal condition - very clean, fully stocked and firewood laid in the fireplace each day. Since we had just attempted to sleep on a bed we swore had a matress made of...

Great hotel, Beautiful Colonial Mexico, each room has a fireplace and is on a big courtyard with cactus and flowering plants, right down the street from the Basilicia and only a few blocks walk to the center. Under Reno in some rooms but the ones done are wonderful.

Lovely people running the hotel, however we were the only people staying there because most of the rooms were being upgrades, so it was very quiet. Very clean and we would stay there again. Great value and lovely to sit beside a real wood fire in our room

The central location, the super-helpful staff and the charming rooms ( we had one with a fireplace), pretty gardens and decor makes this a very special spot to visit. We received very helpful travel advice and suggestions for tours, dining and special events from front desk staff - it was authentic, honest and given generously. The only improvement I could suggest...

After spending 5 nights in Oaxaca and 3 nights in Puebla, we headed back to Patzcuaro and our favorite hotel. Upon our request, we were once again given room 15 for two nights and everything was exactly what we have come to expect - exceptionally clean, quiet and a very friendly staff. Our rate was once again $770MXN/night.

What a fantastic old roadhouse from days gone by. If the stone walls could talk........ All the positive things that others have already posted are so true of this hotel. We particularly like the wood fire place although it didn't provide much heat during our chilli January visit. We are Canadian so we felt it our obligation to deal with...
