The Blue Water hotel garners praise for its serene and welcoming atmosphere, enhanced by live music and striking views, which guests adore. While the pristine condition of the hotel is regularly highlighted, some guests have encountered slow housekeeping services. Opinions on value are divided, with some guests appreciating the discounts against complaints about additional costs. Its prime beachfront location is a hit for ease of access to local attractions. Amenities like the expansive pool and dining options are well-liked, although there's room for improvement. Service is often described as friendly and professional, yet inconsistencies in staff responsiveness and room service have been noted. Room experiences vary, with some guests enjoying the spaciousness and views, but others pointing out maintenance and modernity issues.

Our stay in Sri Lanka was for 5 nights and included the service of a butler but was not all inclusive. Our room was comfortable with a stylish bathroom and separate shower. The room was kept spotless and I was pleased to see that the toiletries were in ceramic dispensers to avoid using single use plastics.
Breakfast was buffet style with plenty of different dishes. The chefs were keen to describe the dishes and encourage you to try something new. There was always plenty of fruit. We dined at the Nautilus one evening and the food and service were good.We had breakfast on our last day in the Nautilus courtesy of our butler. The coffee shop was also a lovely area to relax in the afternoon for afternoon tea. We ventured out onto the beach but were harassed by a local wanting to take us on trips, so we stayed inside the hotel grounds for the rest of the stay. The swimming pools are large and well maintained. We never had any problems finding a sunbed and the staff were quick to bring a mattress and towels for us.
The pool bar had a good menu and the drinks were reasonably priced.
Both butlers who were assigned to us were charming and professional.
We went to Udawalawe National Park during our stay and were driven there by the driver who had collected us from the airport. We also visited Galle on a separate occasion on a trip organised by the hotel's tour desk.
The hotel hosted a law conference during our stay, but the influx of more guests didn't seem to bother any of the staff.
I also had 2 yoga lessons during my stay, these were one to one as I was the only one who turned up. The teacher was excellent and the lesson was tailored specifically to my ability.
The only issue during our stay was the noise from the neighbouring hotel hosting work parties, but the interruption was short-lived.
I would like to return in the future.

We traveled to this lovely Hotel in January for two weeks with Mercury Direct on an all inclusive package. We were picked up from the airport and taken to the Hotel where we were greeted by Kushani from reception who was very friendly and continued to be friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Thank you Kushani.
We have to comment on the exceptional customer service this Hotel gives, we have never stayed in a Hotel where you only have to ask and the staff will do everything in their power to fulfill your request. We filled out a questionnaire and mentioned we had no shaving mirror in the bathroom and the next day there was! And it looked brand new!
We had to move rooms during our stay and would like to send a huge thank you to manager Kumari who turned a negative into a positive.
There is a vast garden where the pool boys will place your sunbeds anywhere you want. Sorry guys for making you walk so far some days but it was so peaceful further along the gardens. If you want to be by the pool you may need to get up a little earlier.
We didn't eat breakfast so we can't comment on it, but we ate in the buffet some evenings and there was a good selection. The beach bar and the Seven Seas coffee shop had a good selection for lunch and sometimes we also ate in the Seven Seas in the evening.
Sangeeth convinced us to eat in the Nautilus in the evening, we had read on Trip Advisor that you had to pay for your drinks in there even if you were on all inclusive but this is not the case. You get 20% discount off the food but your drinks package works in there unless you wish to choose something different from the package.
We had two lovely evening meals in there, two courses for under £20.
You will find Sangeeth working everywhere his English is very good and he understands it very well so any small queries find him and he will find you the right manager to speak to.Thank you Sangeeth and good luck with your roof!
Lakmal, Pradeep and Udaya thank you all for your constant friendly happy service. Also Sujith for cleaning our room and leaving such lovely flowers and towel arrangements.
All of the staff right through from the managers to the bird scarer couldn't have been more friendly and helpful.
We loved watching the beautiful weddings. There was entertainment every night, a visiting elephant and snake charmer on the beach during the day. This Hotel is far from boring!
The locals are so friendly we walked on the beach every day, you just have to tell the sellers you don't need anything and they leave you alone but still say Hi or have a little chat, certainly no reason to stop going on the beach. As dog lovers we also enjoyed the local dogs joining us on our daily walks.
This Hotel is a little slice of heaven, we had a wonderful time and will be returning!!!
Thank you.

If you are looking for a relaxing holiday with plenty of space to soak the sun, or sit in a quiet corner away from the crowd and listen to the sound of flowing water,or walk about holding hands of your beloved partner, this is the place to go.The breathtaking product of one of Sri Lanka's best known architects, The Blue Water has a character and style of its own and second to none.
Though there was a delay in getting our room ready, the quality of the service offered from then onward was amazing and seamless. Our room had a beautiful view of the sea and all the comforts and amenities we could ask for. It was neat, clean and the balcony gave us a breathtaking view of the Indian ocean and the setting sun.
We would have preferred a bigger and better choice of food in the buffets, and in the New Year eve special dinner with the large number of guests present, and with foreign tourists outnumbering the locals by a huge margin.
To sum-up, it was a great stay and one to remember.

We have stayed at this hotel many times and always feel at home as soon as we are greeted by the excellent Concierge team. We hire a car and a concierge team member always parks the car in a safe and shady area for us and then they deliver the luggage to the room. We usually book a Club Suite room which is more spacious, although all the rooms are of a generous size. Club site rooms come with extra benefits such as set menu in Nautilus restaurant , rather than the buffet and tea, coffee and juice available during the daytime. We were served very well by Ajith and Sumit in the Nautilus restaurant who could not do enough to help us. As always we were greeted warmly by Kumari from Front Office on arrival. The swimming pool at Blue water is wonderful - very large and always very clean and welcoming. The only criticism is a lack of sun umbrellas. As we have visited frequently we recall when the palm trees were less tall the shade from them was very good but now the trees are taller they do not offer the same amount of shade and there are crows! Those are minor issues though and we will continue to return to this lovely hotel.

We stayed for 11 nights over Easter, we had arranged to upgrade our room to a club suite prior to our arrival. Unfortunately this was not passed on to the staff and we had to resolve this the day after we arrived, this was very disappointing after a 24 journey from UK.

The hotel is in a wonderful location right on the beach with a wide lawned area with lots of palm trees, sunsets are fantastic. The club room was lovely with a great view out to sea, large and well furnished but the electrics in the room were erratic and the air con noise was very obtrusive.

The food at the buffet was pretty good but we are not really fans of buffet at dinner which is the major reason we upgraded to the club suite as this included dining in the Nautilus a la carte restaurant. Food in the Nautilus was excellent and the head chef and his team really went out of their way to produce truly wonderful meals. Unfortunately we were usually the only guests using the restaurant which meant dining alone.

All hotel staff go out of their way to help, they are happy in their work and guests are very well looked after. Hiran on the front desk was extremely helpful and he went out of his way to resolve issues with our room upgrade.

My only criticism of the hotel is the 'All inclusive' drinks and food set up, it is not at all easy to understand with numerous caveats and time limitations. This was highlighted on our check out at 5 am when I was presented with a bill for the pool bar, we had no idea what the bill was for (we only had a beer and a soft drink at the pool bar). It is petty and irritating to have to continually check the time and location when ordering drinks and snacks. It must also be very difficult for the staff!

All in all we had a great stay in the hotel, it is clear that they are still finding there feet after covid but the staff are excellent and welcoming.

Sri Lanka was wonderful and we will be returning.

We had our wedding at Blue Waters in February 2022 and are completely satisfied with our location choice! We are most grateful to Ruvini (Wedding/ Banquet Coordinator) and Kumara (Banquet Operations Manager). Ruvini for working with us in less than 2 months to make sure that the venue, food and drinks were all that we wanted; and Kumara and his team for making sure that the day went as perfectly as we wanted it to.
Given the current pandemic situation as well as import restrictions in Sri Lanka, we are grateful to your team for still giving us a great location, excellent food (all the guests raved about the food), and friendly service.
Us, along with around 40 of our guests also booked rooms at the hotel overnight and we are happy with the cleanliness of the rooms as well as the service that comes with it. Everyone from the valets to room service went out of their way to make sure that our stay was pleasant.
We'd happily recommend the Blue Water as a wedding destination for any couple considering it!

I visited this hotel buffet on 19 th November with my family to have a dinner out . That was the worst dinner out experience in my life out of all the places I’ve visited so far for my 39 years . Food was totally a mess . It wasn’t tasty at all . If you need a chef to cook such horrible or tasteless food , whats the point ? Lack of every tasty ingredients , I don’t know how people eat them , surely it was only few people were in restaurant explain the situation . Half fried cuttle fish I don’t know you call it a name but I’m sure that wasn’t Korean or Japanese dish that chef was trying to make . All my family members are surprised with tasteless food and we surely have enjoyed the way better taste from simple place than this . When I went to the hotel it was about 6.50 pm . All the lights in pool area were switched off , even my little one wanted to have a walk in the garden it wasn’t possible . No stewards was available to contact easily in the restaurant area . This place seems have gone very low in its standards than it used to be few years ago when I last visited . I would never visit the place again to taste that sort of dinner buffet nor recommend any of my friends .

Location:
This property is situated at Wadduwa facing a long beach front from one side and the railway track from the other side. Easy access is from Colombo via the highway and from Horana Panadura road and Galle Road. This place has ample parking.

Facilities:
This hotel has a spacious lobby area and a restaurant, a spa, etc. There are a lot of area covered in ponds in the lobby area that make it nice. There is a volleyball court and a nice lawn where one could relax.

Rooms:
The rooms are a bit old but very clean. Has a very good ambiance in the rooms. The bed is comfortable. The room has tea and coffee making facilities, shower caps, etc that are very handy. We requested two adjacent rooms in the 1st floor and the reservation made sure that it was delivered.

Garden:
There is a big lawn area with places to just sit back and relax. The is also a big pool where a lot of persons could take a dip.

Food:
Food was ample and tasty. There was a sizable crowd on the day that we went there, and the restaurant staff did a good job in servicing them.

Service:
The service provided by the hotel was good. I mean there was not any out of the way stuff, but they did their job keenly and to the satisfaction of the clients.

Overall:
I could recommend this hotel to any person wants to have a relaxing time, a swim and good food.

Ours was a family holiday for a weekend out. The Hotel Blue Water has been a very special place for my family as we have been patronizing this place over the past few years on many occasions. The food is very good and the Port Hole bar offers a wide array of good quality drinks. The Executive Suit we stayed was quite spacious and very comfortable. We used to know most of the staff from our previous visits and they were very happy to see us back and did everything possible to keep us happy and comfortable. The reservations office staff was very helpful in advising me to choose the correct type of room configuration and the front office staff was fabulous with their hospitality. Met the energetic new GM who took the trouble to have a leisurely chat with us despite his busy schedule.
However, in comparison with previous staff, the new recruits need bit more training which was highlighted and gracefully acknowledged by the management.
The Blue Waters is a very special 5 star property with a personalized touch and as always, would like to highly recommend to be patronized be it a family vacation or with friends.

We travelled to the Blue Water as a TUI all inclusive package which was very good value for money for 15 nights. Whilst the hotel is rated as 5 star it’s fair to say that some areas are a little tired but through our stay here it was clear renovations are ongoing but these were not disruptive. Rooms are well serviced and the bed incredibly comfortable. Food from the buffet is good quality and varied and a mix of local and European dishes. Most meat is served on the bone which I believe to be local custom - it just means you need to be selective when picking from the buffet dishes. Service can at times be slow for drinks and the all inclusive selection a little limited but all staff are very friendly… a good deal are trainees and try hard but could do with a little more experienced direction at times, particularly the drinks service. We used the spa and this again always excellent value and very very good. The pool here is huge and very warm and it was rare to find more than half a dozen people using it.
The grounds are very well maintained, lots of birds and wildlife and lead straight to the beach which is amazing. At times it can be very choppy so you have to pick the best time to take a dip, but it is excellent, again at times we found ourselves practically alone.
On the beach we met Tapro Tours and had a chat with
Sumi and his nephew Thara who organised a custom tour for us which took us on an incredibly scenic train ride through the tea plantations, we stopped in “little England” for lunch and visited a Tea factory before returning. The guys took care of everything even seeing us onto the train ensuring we were in the right spot and collected us at the other end. Terrific service from very friendly, trustworthy and honest people. Very good value and have no hesitation recommending them - they will be able to tailor tours to suit whatever you wish to see and do and whatever duration and budget you have….They will advise you without pressure or hard sell which is just what you need when relaxing on holiday.
Overall The Blue Water offered excellent value for money and a relaxing holiday. Wadduwa is a little distant from the majority of the primary visitor attractions but the Tours offered are well planned , just be prepared for a fair amount of time travelling but it’s worth it as there is so much to see.

Hi Trudie, we travelled with TUI and they have a rep onsite most days at 10 am through who we booked our trips. They were all amazing and I'm sure irrespective of who you booked your holiday with Asoka who is the TUI rep and super helpful would be more than willing to help organise a tour for you guys. We were well impressed both with price and itinerary however there are a bunch of guys hanging around on the beach side of the hotel who can also help. We didn't use them but spoke to others who had and I think it's fair to say that they're all much of a muchness. Good luck and hope you have a fab holiday 😎

I’ll answer this myself. Yes it’s still available and it’s in good condition. No air conditioning so it’s as hot as hell. You won’t need long to war a ball up. Decent racquets and balls available for free but bring your oil you’re serious.
