Detailed Reviews
Spent about $400 a night due to weekend pricing and staying as a family of 5, and stayed for 3 nights. This totaled to under $1,200.
The hotel itself is placed in a very convenient location from restaurants, shops, and the beach. We got the one-king bedroom suite with a kitchen, and the amenities were nice i.e. the pots, pans, utensils were helpful. The room itself was pretty, though we found blood stains and odor on the king bed, and could tell many of the bathroom utilities like towels, toilet paper, lotion had not been cleaned or updated thoroughly or for quite some time. The room was not that clean and the front desk staff was not too helpful either.
We had called the front desk multiple times to ask for cleaner/fresh items, and only one man was receptive to our needs who was walking around the halls with a walkie-talkie. The front desk staff generally was not attentive. The breakfast bar was decent and clean, however, and the hostess we had from Saturday and Sunday was a friendly and attentive lady. Would give the breakfast bar overall an 8.5/10.
Overall, the cleaning and management was not up to par, and felt that for the amount we paid exceeded the quality of service. While the breakfast and the hostess were great, it did not make up for the amount we felt we had lost as a result of the management.

Great visit from start to finish. We were upgraded to a kitchen suite prior to arrival. Room was spacious and sparkling clean with a view of the pool. Nice hot shower and plenty of fresh towels. Hot breakfast capped off our stay. Every member of the staff was gracious and welcoming. It was a short visit but we’ll be back.

I have stayed at this hotel several times over the last 20 years.
The hotel provides what you expect from a Hampton Inn.
Bed quality: peaceful sleep, quiet, I did not experience any disturbances from other rooms or outside noise. clean bedding. Bedroom is a separate room which is nice.
TV: basic service +HBO not extensive premium channels enough for our viewing needs for a beach trip
Furnishings : functional, outdated nothing spectacular comfortable living and kitchen area
Kitchen: a small fridge the shelving had an odd arrangement that was difficult to adjust without moving the Fridge. 2 eye cooktop, microwave, dishwasher, utensils, no oven
Cleanliness general cleanliness more attention to details needed. Minor item crumb on TV tray and in Frig. Otherwise spotless
Carpet updated, shower updated
Good shower water pressure clean shower head
Breakfast: standard Hampton Inn service, area clean
Lobby pleasant and clean
Staff: very warm, friendly and helpful

We are Hilton Honors members and always try to find a Hilton property to stay in when traveling. We stayed in Wilmington NC for a wedding weekend at the Hampton Inn Wrightsville. Our commode was slow flushing when we checked in and within an hour was not flushing at all. We called the front desk and they brought us a plunger and told us to try to unclog the commode! For a room that is over $250/night we really felt that was a poor customer service response from an upscale property. We stayed 2 nights and the a/c unit woke us every time it cycled on since it sounded like a 727 taking off. Worse Hilton property experience EVER!

I stayed at this hotel for work a trip. Prior to me arriving, my manager booked my stay and at the time of the booking he stated that the stay should be completely charged on his credit card. The Hampton Inn employee stated because we are with a group, the security deposit would be $15 per day and I was aware that a charge would be on my personal credit card, which was fine . When I checked in, the lady at the desk said she would charge for the security deposit. I was staying for 3 nights , so there should have been a charge of $45. Once I got to my room, I checked my account and saw there was a $500 charge on my account . I went back down to the front desk and calmly said to the lady, I am just looking for clarity on why my card was charge this amount when that’s not the agreement that was told by phone. I was immediately met with hostility and was told “I’m not going to argue with you, you can talk to the manger.” The manager Sheeri Hightower came out and she was just as rude. She was very dismissive and told me no credit card was on file for my reservation and that’s why I was charge. That was a complete lie , because you can’t even book a reservation without a credit card and if that was the case, why wasn’t that mentioned when I checked in??! So, I went back to my room. As I walked away, I heard Sheeri Hightower and her employee laughing at me as I walked away(Nice way to make your guest feel welcomed.)To make a long story short, I had my manager email over his credit card info so he could cover the reservation. My manager called me and told me he talked to the front desk and it should be handled. Instead of the hotel manager calling me to tell me the issue was resolved and my credit card would be refunded, I heard nothing from them. So I stopped by the front desk again, Just to confirm they received my managers credit card and that it would be refunded . Again, I was met with an attitude and was talked to In a condescending tone. The following day, I was at the bar by the pool and the manager Sheeri Hightower walked behind the bar, looked dead at me and didn’t speak . She turned her back to me and ate a hamburger behind the bar and never acknowledged me. Once she was done, she walked away. The Hampton Inn needs to take a better look at the type of people they are hiring . I have been a customer service manager for 15 years and I would never be this rude to a customer. When my company has another convention, I will recommend they find another hotel. I will never stay here again.

I am so sorry to hear that at any time during your visit you felt dismissed by myself or my front desk. Please know guest comfort and satisfaction is always our number 1 goal. With large group reservations such as yours, there are specific instructions that we have to follow, and sometimes these details can be misinterpreted. I do hope you will come back and visit us again, and give us a second chance.

We came for our son's wedding. We helped book up to 40 rooms and had a cocktail event at the hotel.
Warren at the front desk was great, and Sheeri and Lael were helpful.
The property needs some help, the elevators are in poor repair.
The real issue is w/housekeeping.
Mold in the shower (yuk), not fixed.
We asked for daily room service and they did not clean up the room the day of the wedding, even though we asked them to, coming back to a dirty room late at night after the wedding is not good.
It used to be that Hamption/Hilton guaranteed 100% satisfaction, and if not, give a free night(s). This property and management group does not, their idea of "making it right" is to give 5,000 Hilton points, which is only good if you plan to go back to Hilton.
Avoid at all costs, guess I am going back to Marriott properties exclusively.

Dear Mr. Thomashow, Thank you once again for allowing us the privilege of hosting you and your guests during your son’s wedding celebration. It was truly rewarding to receive such positive feedback from your friends and family. However, I am deeply sorry to hear that your personal experience did not meet your expectations. As a Hilton-branded hotel, we are committed to upholding our 100% satisfaction guarantee. I understand that housekeeping during your stay was a concern. Hilton’s policy provides housekeeping services daily upon request or every other day when no request is made. Unfortunately, we do not have a record of any request for additional housekeeping during your stay. That said, we acknowledge your concerns regarding the cleanliness of your bathroom upon check-in. As soon as we were made aware of the issue, our Executive Housekeeper thoroughly cleaned the room, and it was our understanding that this addressed the problem to your satisfaction. Additionally, as a gesture of appreciation for your son’s celebration, we offered several discounts on food and beverage purchases at our lobby bar. When we discussed the possibility of Hilton Honors points, it was under the assumption that you were aware of the other discounts provided and were appreciative of the extra efforts we made to ensure a memorable experience for your family. We genuinely regret any misunderstanding that may have occurred, and we sincerely apologize if any part of your stay did not meet the high standards we strive to provide. Should you decide to visit Wilmington again in the future, we would love the opportunity to welcome you back and ensure a more pleasant experience. Warm regards, Sheeri Hightower Hotel Manager Hampton Inn & Suites Wilmington/Wrightsville Beach

We were only here for one night, a Saturday in August 2023. We are die-hard Hampton Inn lovers and Hilton Honors members. This is not the typical-looking Hampton Inn, probably because it's so near the beach. The only reason we are giving this 4 stars and not 5 is because the room we were in was a bit wonky. It had obviously been renovated. There was no real closet, but a strange thin area/closet which had been added on the window wall and actually took up the space where there had once been a window. This made the existing window very small. Unlike many Hamptons, the pool is located in the middle of the property so many rooms, like ours, looked out onto it. There was a very loud pool crowd on the afternoon/evening we were there. If you want quiet, ask for a room on the other side of the hallway. We only walked through the bar area at night and it was small and really loud. We still love the Hampton Inn's beds and pillows. The room was clean and the bathroom, although really small was very clean.

Good overnight stay. This is one of the few hotels that I have stayed in that is actually trying to follow CDC recommended COVID practices in public areas (face masks, sanitizing stations, cleaning high touch areas). Also, they still have breakfast, and the attendant would not let people got to the bat without. Face mask. The washcloths had hair on them. The room was refreshed but not clean. There were crumbs on the side of the bed, and hair on the bathroom
floor. Luckily, I brought my own disposable sheets and bath linen. I was also equipped with clorox to wipe down surfaces. We didn't step on floor without shoes. I was going to give 3 stars because of room cleanliness, but the exceptional customer service could not be overlooked. The front desk were really nice and efficient.

We stayed in one of the two room suites. It was perfect for COVID times as the windows open a little, so you can ventilate the room. The kitchen area has a high table which was great for dining as we ordered take out food while staying there. So it was nice to have a designated dining table. The beach is only a few minutes drive away, there is a large well lit parking area and there are many great places to get take out from in the area.
Didn’t get the full 5 stars for two reasons.
1. The WiFi is dreadful and kept dropping. We had to reconnect every few minutes.
2. The breakfast buffet was back in session and unfortunately everything is WAY too close together. They need to spread out the buffet or go back to the grab and go breakfast boxes which are the best idea in COVID times. Even though they had signs saying “masks must be worn at buffet”no one was enforcing that and several people were coming to the buffet unmasked.

I was informed by front desk after i called about what was broken that they depend on their housekeeping and customers to find out about broken issues an that should be fixed before they rent the room. It shouldnt be something the customer has to deal with them coming in to fix things during their stay. And 1 worker talked to my daughter an without her mask over her mouth that she may have been exposed to a covid patient that she had taken to hospital few nights before an put my daughter an her babe at risk when i reported it to front desk i was told that she was called an she told them she didnt tell my daughter that an that they were checked before they came back to work each time when im sure she was supposed to report if she had been in contact with anyone that may have it. which she must not have so she put the customers and her co workers she came in contact with and i was contacted 2 times in 1 day to change out a microwave when that shouldnt be done on customers time that could be done in between cleaning of rooms but i was told they had a deadline which again is not the customers problem and should not have to deal with it during their stay after the money they have pd for their privacy of the room. I will never stay here again. So just fyi beware of who approached u there without the mask over their face because they are not reporting the truth to their employer. She told them she never told my daughter that but she probably didnt think it was important enough that a customer would report her after putting my daughter an babe an me at risk because she was afraid she would lose her job. but if she had ma b been exposed to someone with covid by taking them to the hospital for being sick she shouldnt have been working to chance possibly spreading it more as bad as it is. I hate i waisted my money on this place.

Dear jenniferhM4899XQ, I am deeply sorry for the experience you had at our hotel. I understand your frustration with maintenance having to come in and change the microwave. The front desk had made multiple attempts to call your room ahead of time to make sure it was okay to come in. After the calls went unanswered the maintenance team made the decision to knock on your door. (The microwave was not broken, it was just being updated to a brand new one.) I completely understand your concerns regarding the conversation your daughter had with one of our housekeepers. One of our front desk agents spoke with your daughter about the situation and according to your daughter she was wearing a mask, but had it resting below her nose. (We have since spoken with all of our staff and reiterated the importance of covering the entire face.) We also had discussed on the phone with you that everyday we check our employees temperatures and ensure they are free of illness before letting them get to work. I'm not sure how the conversation started with your daughter and the housekeeper, but I assure you that she did not come into contact with anyone with Covid-19. She was discussing a previous experience with a family member who had the stomach flu. Regardless, this was an inappropriate conversation to have and her direct Manager is handling the situation accordingly. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us as we are always looking for ways to improve. I hope you have a wonderful evening.

Hi BenUNC,
I would be happy to answer your questions! Due to Covid we have made some changes.
As per the state of North Carolina, you must wear a mask if you are within 6 feet of another person. (Outside of your group.)
Breakfast: We are still offering a breakfast buffet but guests are required to wear masks in order to get food.
Pool: We are cleaning and sanitizing the lounge areas more frequently than before. As for swimming in the pool that is up to your discretion and what you feel comfortable with.
Housekeeping: We are sanitizing the rooms after cleaning. Once the housekeeping manager has inspected and sanitized the rooms, a seal is put on the door to confirm with you that no one has entered the room after sanitation. We are also refraining from doing automatic cleanings for multiple night stays however, cleanings are available upon request.
If you have any further questions, I would be happy to answer them. Thank you for your question and I hope you have a wonderful day!
I'd call the hotel.
Hi klbrywry2! Unfortunately, our pool is not heated. However, it will be open and with the pleasant weather we have experienced recently we hope you can enjoy it. The water temperature will still be cool but you should be able to relax by the pool with a cold beverage.
Thank you for your inquiry! Unfortunately we do not have a hot-tub outside with our pool area, however, we do have a select few suites on property with whirlpool tubs in them.
I don't know. My dog is a licensed and registered service dog so I had to show them the state issued license.
