York Travellers Rest Caravan Park has the facilities to cater for overnight or extended stays for the “Grey Nomads”, couples, families and groups by offering tent sites, powered sites for caravans and motor homes (large and small) and we are pet friendly. Nestled under the shadow of Mt Bakewell, backing onto the Racecourse and shaded by many beautiful Australian Gum Trees with peaceful wide open spaces, in a natural bush setting with an abundance of bird life and a star-filled sky at night. Being just an hour and a half country drive east of Perth in the Avon Valley, York is a relaxing place to unwind while on any trip and makes it a great stopover on the way to or from any destination. New owners are York locals of over 30 years, we love our town and can not wait for you to experience the beauty of our Park. We are in the process of restoring the Park to its former glory, we hope to make many improvements and additions over the next few years that will complement not just the Park but our beautiful town. We love to meet new people, especially travellers who need a place to rest, we all at the Park are ready to make your stopover or holiday relaxing and enjoyable.

Detailed Reviews
Stayed 2 nights in a powered site for $35.00 per night. Ablution block is old and in need a of a re-model. Really think it is overpriced. The barking dogs also make stay unpleasant. No dump point and have to go into York town centre to dump point. I think Beverley offers a much better caravan park at $32.00 per night for powered site, much tidier and cleaner looking park and only 34 kms further from York.

This is the only park in York. The setting is natural and sites are large and flat
The general surrounds and the amenities need some TLC.
The lady who works at the park tries hard but more help is needed
Needs some TLC and the surrounds need cleaning up .
One person cannot do everything
We were told it is slowly being done up lets hope its a success.

Easy drive through powered sites.
Amenities were good. Very casual and quiet. Some distance from the historical town of York where you can stock up on supples easily. The cheapest cost for a powered site we have paid in 2 weeks.

We didn’t have a booking, but when we drove in we could see sites available. On entering the office, the lady behind the counter didn’t bother to look up until I said ‘hello’. When I asked if there were sites available, she said ‘we don’t want vans your size’ and carried on counting coins. No offer of other suggestions - so we headed to the delightful and free RV area in town, right on the river, walking distance to town centre over the suspension bridge and joined 20 other happy campers enjoying this spot.

Response from York Caravan Park, Owner at York Travellers Rest Caravan Park
Responded 5 June 2023
I don't usually respond but I will this time, I indeed was counting coins $20 dollars of $1.00 coins into a bag and I had three to go, 18 ,19,20. as I was doing something before you came in. You said hello I said hello back, I asked do you have a booking you said no, you asked for a site and I said what size is your van, I cant remember what size exactly you said, but I had three bays left and they only fit 18 ft including the draw bar, and your van would not fit in them, as for the vacant bays that you saw before check-in time they were all booked with the people coming in. why would I say we don't want your size van here when clearly we have everything from tents, no sorry swags, to 40 foot buses it was blue you cant miss it. the suggestions I always give because we are often full were given to you and included the place you stayed, as for 20 campers at the RV stop thankyou I can now go to the council with proof that the RV stop that has a total legal capacity of less than ten because there is no toilets showers or electricity was overloaded, I'm glad you had a great time so did the 73 happy campers here. with open fires electricity and ablutions, fun and laughter. I do hope you book with us in the future to guarantee a spot.

An unplanned stop on our travels, and so glad we stopped! Ended up staying 4 days. Very pleasant surrounds, friendly owner & manager are friendly and welcoming, and nothing is too much trouble for them, We chose our own tent site, close to camp kitchen and amenities. Clean ablutions, Ladies being renovated going to look great. Immaculate Shady sites so you have an enjoyable and relaxing stay at their caravan park, we would definitely stay here again.

Our group of Avanners stayed at this park for five nights. Many sites had been levelled & covered with fine blue metal. Some had adjoining artificial grass strips. Our site at the back of the park hadn't been upgraded but was never the less clean with grass. The ablution blocks were old but clean with plenty of hot water. The manager was friendly, very helpful & provided our group one day with scones for morning tea. The younger members of our group were able to walk the approx. 4kms into the townsite.

Just like a bush camp only better. Hot showers and friendly management. Great for a few days getting away from Perth. York and the surrounding area has enough to keep us occupied for a few days time out in this peaceful spot.

This caravan park is a jewel set on the outskirts of York. The new owners are upgrading, so it's not the best as yet, but it was clean and tidy, showers and toilets were clean. the best thing was the price.

Yes you can camp onsite, it's$20-$25 a night. Be very careful of the caravan Parks matinience guy tho, he is a drug addict and sleepy towards females and children, has a past of meddling and getting very very friendly with young girls and teenaged. Nick the owner and Tiny his wife Amanda know of this but still allow him to work and live on the premises
$26 p/n and very good showers
$32 and yes spotless toilet/shower block
